This business is a great place to take your car for service. Craig and his partner and their mechanic are very people oriented and will go above and beyond to help you. My friend has known Craig for years, from when he worked at Mercedes. His partner, a mechanic, had also worked for Mercedes. When the business opened we both decided to start going to Silver Star. They are very familiar with Mercedes and BMW and I really like that I only have to go 20 minutes from my home to get there. Makes drop of and pick ups so much easier. You just drive in, park and give Craig the key. This is a very pleasant service shop to do business with. They also do inspections and have the equipment necessary to maintain these cars. read more

This is a Mercedes and BMW specialist which opened a couple of years ago in a spot previously occupied by a long-time Mercedes expert. Craig and Tyler have many years experience working in the dealer world, but they offer far superior customer interaction in their shop than I EVER received at a dealer. I have now had three Mercedes and a BMW serviced here, and I have been satisfied each time. They took the time to understand the level of repair I needed for cars in different conditions, instead of simply compiling a list of parts to repair. My most recent problem (suspension clunk) was not easily diagnosed, but they successfully found the problem and made repairs for a very reasonable price. When you are out of warranty, a dealer is no longer an option. My '02 530 does not need much but Rex does the specialty items that others do not want to mess with. He repaired my moonroof assembly rather than just replacing the entire part. He offered me the option and said it would take a few more days. I respected him so much for this. That was a few years ago and all is still good. He knows these cars and anytime my car has been there - repair was done during he stated time frame and I have never had to revisit a repair. I recently took my 1974 Mercedes Roadster to Rex Carle Automotive for some engine, brake system and electrical work. In searching for the "right guy" to do the work on my car, I asked around and all signs pointed to Rex -- including that he is a Bosch Authorized Repair Center which is a critically important detail, especially when servicing Mercedes engine & fuel systems. Immediately upon meeting Rex during an initial inspection of the car, it was blatantly evident that he is the real deal. Very knowledgeable, detail oriented, and genuine. I felt instantly comfortable with his ability to do the right job and take care of my classic Mercedes. After working up a list of parts include an entire rebuild of the fuel injection hose system (no small feat when done properly); check valves, replacing all brake lines, rebuilding brake reservoir, belts, oil, ps cleanup, fix a misfire, adjust surging idle, inspection and fix turn signal, we set a date to drop the car. Dropped the car on a Monday morning and told him to take whatever time was needed. Picked the car up on Thursday morning. WOW would be an understatement. The moment I started the car, you could tell it was running "as delivered" from the dealership. This car had been in our family since 1979 and I hadn't heard it sound like this since the 80's. Idle, perfect. Not a drop of movement or shake on the tachometer. Smooth and silky. Took the car out and up the hill -- the tires actually spun! (not that i'm doing that in my 74 -- but it happened). On the highway home, I was smiling at how well the car worked again. Plus, Rex fixed my turn signal switch. These parts are NLA and he just took it apart and fixed it. I can't express enough how professional, honest, genuine and great an experience it is to work with Rex and his team. Cost? How much is it worth to have the right job done to your favorite car... But seriously, very competitive and I haven't thought about the cost after feeling the result. Take your favorite Mercedes to Rex is my advice. read more

Rex makes having a BMW or Mercedes fun again. He is very knowledgeable and fair in pricing. The transmission on my parents' Benz '94 convertible that he rebuilt drives better than it did before (seriously). And when I brought him my Benz ('05 CLK convertible) he fixed a BUNCH of things I had put off (given I lived in Hawaii and there were no maintenance deals to be had) for outstanding prices plus offered very good advice on what to do/not to do. He even saved me money on a new car key (one of mine was broken), which I thought was a set price item from the dealership. So, although you have to work around not having a loaner car and the week workday hours, I think it is worth it!! read more

I have been seeing a lot of Porsches there in the past year so I took my 911 there and they did a Spectacular Job. Top notch mechanic and as honest as they come. Had a recent situation with a known issue on an M3...replacing the part could've easily cost over $1,500 and I'm sure I would've paid it. This was my first time to use this shop. My '05 C-class needed service A performed and although other minor issues were found, I declined the repairs. So it came with absolute shock when i was presented with a $400 bill! For an oil change!! The detailed bill showed services performed as oil change, oil filter change, cabin air filter change and brake fluid, plus "checked whole car over." So all this took 2.5 hours @ $92/hr..?!! Rex may be very knowledgeable and I'm not complaining about the hourly rate but I'm NEVER going back!! read more
