Great tasting food---Fried pickles and armadillo eggs were devoured quickly by all--too good to leave a morsel. Our daughter had spaghetti with meatballs and raved about it--the guys had bbq and really enjoyed the Texas style bbq sauce. I've eaten here many times and most of the time I've enjoyed my food and experience. Today, my experience was great. The staff were wonderful, the restaurant was clean. However, I decided to try something new. I ordered the red fish with a Caesar salad and green beans. The sides were great, especially the green beans! The fish on the other hand, I wasn't a fan of. It was a bit dry and didn't have a ton of flavor. I'm not holding them fully accountable though. I mean, you can't expect much when you order fish from a bbq place. I've been here several times and I keep coming back because the food is delicious as are the cupcakes. I've had sliced brisket sandwiches as well as the ribs. And I've had a sliced turkey sandwich. They were all good, although I will say the last time a couple of the ribs were a little bit on the chewy side, nothing I couldn't handle. The beans are always outstanding. I like the french fries even though there's some kind of frozen variety they're real tasty. Coleslaw is good and the fried okra comes out piping hot and delicious. Usually excellent, especially when Hillary was waiting on me. Some of the other girls Are good. They just weren't as attentive. Even if the food was crap here I would come back for the cupcakes. They're absolutely delicious. I would tell you which one's my favorite, but I don't want them to be sold out on it so good luck, figuring it out on your own. Ha ha ha! Now the last time I went in, Hillary told me it was her last day and I got admit. I'm a little bit sad about that. I hope to see her down the road sometime and I hope for much success and whatever else she's going to do. By the way, I usually sit in the bar because I come in late for lunch usually sometime after 1 PM and there's generally no one in the dining room. I don't want to sit in the dining room and eat by myself. Whereas if I sit at the bar, at least have the bartender to talk to. Service was marginal. I would definitely dine here again. Waitresses could use a little bit more personality and extroversion. The interactions with wait staff were, very, very brief. I find that when dining alone vs. in a group, the waitresses are very succinct and conversation is in extreme brevity. In their mind not the potential for a big tip so not worth taking the time on a single diner. Makes me feel unappreciated as a customer. Don't get me wrong, I never had to wait for my drink to be refilled or anything. She was consistent in her rounding but definitely nothing more than, "need some more to drink. Okay." First of all. The sweet tea here is AMAZING. I stopped by here during my travels. Most likely won't be back here but this was a great experience. The waitress was great too. Great timing and very knowledgeable. And most of all, kind. I ordered the brisket lunch. It was incredible. The bbq beans are amazing. We were in town and were hungry for meat. My husband speaks well about Silver Star Smokehouse in Shreveport, so we were hoping that this location is just as good. It was very easy to spot the place, though you kinda have to go thru the loop before you get to the restaurant. Lots of parking available when we went around noon on Friday for lunch! We were seated right away by the hostess. We had the best server! She was so attentive to our needs and made sure everything was how we liked it. She was also nice to our baby! Our orders: their "jalapeno poppers," bbq plate (kid's meal), bbq plate with turkey, sausage, and ribs with bbq beans and fries and lunch rib plate with potato salad and green beans. Our appetizer was crisp, hot and flavorful. The dip was exceptional! Our server gave our baby's food first--- she knew that kids don't wait very good (kudos!) My ribs were tender and flavorful. WA-HOO, BUCKAROO! We ate here shortly after they opened and were not impressed. The food was only average, and the price was too high, BUT the growing pains are over. The brisket sandwiches were large and delicious. Salads were plentiful. The fries incredible. And then there was the banana pudding which is good enough to kick you up to heaven's door. My family and I came to visit some friends and we decided to go out to dinner. Our friend had said this was a place he wanted to go visit, so we decided to give it a try. When we got there, we were seated within a couple minutes. I went to the bar while everyone got settled in their seats, to see what type of drink specials they had. I talked to the bartender and asked if it was happy hour and she said yes, and told me what they had on special. I decided to go with the margaritas, since they were only $5 and told her to please make it with the house tequila. I then went back to my seat and waited for our drinks - it took a little bit longer than expected, considering there was only about three tables occupied in the building. Our food came out and it was pretty good. The ribs were probably some of the best I've ever had, they fell off the bone. Our service was decent, but nothing spectacular. Here's the kicker - our bill came out and they had charged me $11.50 for each margarita! When the waitress came back to get my card, I told her the drinks had been rang up incorrectly and to please fix it. She said OK and took my card. About a minute later, she came back and said, sorry, "the bartender didn't realize it wasn't happy hour so the drinks are actually $11.50 and there's nothing we can do." I told her to please have her manager come out, there's no reason I should have to eat the price because her bartender didn't realize what day it was. I had even asked our waitress when I ordered my second drink and she told me happy hour was until 7. After about 10 minutes, the manager finally came out and said that she would take off $10. I told her that still didn't equal the price that they told me it was when I ordered, but I guess it was fine. She did not seem very concerned with the issue. I did appreciate the bartender coming up to me while I was waiting for the manager to correct my bill. She apologized and said she doesn't work Saturdays usually, but she was so sorry and she felt really bad. I wish the manager and the waitress would've been more understanding. As a customer, I like to know how much the item is that I'm purchasing, especially if I'm purchasing multiples. The fact that they felt the need to go back-and-forth with me is quite aggravating. Due to this experience I will be visiting a different steakhouse next time I'm in town. read more

Everytime I took a bite I kept thinking hotdogs and had to put them to the side. Very overpriced. Yes, the food was good but I felt like we were paying for atmosphere and decor. Portions were mediocre for the price paid. I have gotten larger portions priced for less but it is a high end atmosphere. Cant say I would eat there again, due to the price.
