I had to drive 170 to meet with clients in Texarkana today. I stopped at Naaman's, had a good meal and an even more wonderful experience. I was greeted with a pleasant smile. Although the parking lot and restaurant was packed, I was seated immediately. My server, Talletta, was by far, the best part of my experience at Naaman's! She was friendly, professional and attentive. When I asked about my sandwich being a bit dry, she immediately reordered it. (Apparently, I didn't know to ask for the "sweet meat".) I enjoyed talking to her and visiting. I enjoyed everything so much that I ordered pounds of sweet meat", turkey and chicken to bring back to share with my family and neighbors. I will be back! First of all this place was so good the food was amazing but the service by Roxanne was the best and would be why I came back but alas we were traveling. I love going through Texas for ribs and brisket but the sides were so good I'd come back just for the sides- we only drive from Florida to Nevada once a year but we will be coming back on our way home. We stopped at Naaman's BBQ on our way back to Dallas and honestly couldn't have enjoyed the experience more. The food was incredible. I ordered the chicken fried ribeye, and it feels like it should be illegal it's so good. Everything we had was outstanding and exactly the kind of Southern comfort food you hope to find when traveling. Barbecue sandwich was fantastic as well. The service made the experience even better. Talletta our waitress was friendly, gave great recommendations, and even made sure we had tea to go for the road. Great food, great service, and a great experience from start to finish. On the first day of our RV road trip, we chose this spot for lunch based on the positive reviews about the food and service. Cutting to the headline, it was fine, but we didn't think it lived up to some of the barbecue places we've tried around Dallas. The first thing we noticed was that the cloth napkins had a funny smell, maybe grease? We ordered the Red Headed Step Child sandwich, partly because I actually have one of those in real life, and partly because it was pig-based. It ended up being the best part of the meal. The green beans were cold and forgettable, and we had to ask a couple of times for our order of okra before it finally arrived. Presentation was good and it was a lot of food. One awesome thing about this place, they always give more for your buck. Throughout the restaurant you will find wildlife decorations as well as old-fashioned funny sayings in pictures and walls. They offer great seating selection inside and outside. They have a good-size bar. In one of the dining areas you will find an old classic vehicle. The restaurant has a lighthearted mix of retro and western decor. It even continues into the restrooms. We ordered the rib platter which included 2 sides. The menu doesn't specify how many ribs are included. We got three ribs (3 individual rib bones with meat). The price seemed a little expensive for this amount of meat. I also thought it odd to split the ribs into individual riblets before serving. The menu should be more explicit as to serving size and how served. Having said all that the food was very good. I'm a barbecue connoisseur. When I eat barbecue, I want both flavor and value. I had been here several times in the past but hadn't stopped in a while. The food has always been decent and Naaman's was considered a stand-out in the spotty east Texas barbecue scene. After today's visit, I got the feeling they are cutting corners and raising prices.. For 15 dollars my Bishop sandwich had about the same amount of meat as a 9 dollar brisket sandwich at Lum's in Junction, and Lum's is better. It was just too miserly for the money. The beans were canned with a dash of meat and a little tangy sauce added. I thought my dad made these, nope Naaman's was the best ever. Sweet and salty. I actually had the chance to go to this place twice while I was in town. The first night I had the sausage and brisket. Both excellent. The spicy BBQ sauce is awesome. Not too hot but a little heat. For side I had the cheesy corn which is really rice cheese and corn. Awesome. Then I had the meat with beans. Also very good. The peach cobbler for desert isn't super sweet but is very good.
