In April of 2017, I was sent a notice from the IRS requesting a live audit for 2015, they also requested 2014, and they basically requesting everything, at this particular my business was declining, my wife had a major back surgery and basically bed ridden, I'm making meals, taking care of our 4 kids, trying to work and have a positive outlook on things, basically my life was just a F$%#@$ mess, my wife's bed ridden and I have to keep her downstairs as it's impossible to get her upstairs. The IRS wanted to come to my home, and ive only heard horror stories on what's done to people. Did I feel I did anything wrong??? No but it's the government, and well they do as they wish. I contacted Silver Tax Group, at 4:30 am PST, I couldn't sleep, and again everything around me crumbling, I needed help asap, Korey Waggoner basically called me at 4:45 am, on a Sunday morning, almost instantly once I hit the submit button. After an hour of QnA, I decided to hire Silver Tax Group, I paid the initial retainer fee, and I felt really comfortable with my decision. Being a complete mess, I had to send tons of paperwork for both years, sort it , organize it, send it, took me months, I'm not sure on what the IRS wanted so I just sent everything, and I mean everything probably close to 10k in pages, of ledgers, receipts, estimates. Invoices, so on an so forth. The price to hire STG seemed fair in the sense that they took over all communications, and handled everything in and out, this made me feel comfortable. Being under audit for 2 years and you have no idea on why, tends to make you go through the what ifs, what if did this wrong, what if I loose my house, what's family going to think i'f me if I did something wrong that their lifes suffered for it. This no way to wake up feeling every day, it's not good for your mind. Body, or just overall well being. STG, worked with me on a payment plan, and it was doable, during the course of the audit, I had so many questions, between Korey, Attorney Cowan, Julie... they all answered my questions, never got angry by me asking so many, just duis their best to make me feel comfortable. After almost a year, IRS concluded my meals for both years were declined, when you think you could possibly loose everything, owe millions, and you find out you didn't do anything wrong, it's a great feeling, I would certainly recommend STG to anyone in the same situation. A complete scam. This "company" never did any work on my behalf, failed to respond to phone calls and emails, constantly changed new attorneys, double-billed me on multiple occasions, overdrafted me several times, told me they forgot I was a client, failed to negotiate with the IRS, and kept asking for more money (more money than what the IRS wanted). They took 5 grand and never did a damn thing. Better to deal with the IRS on your own. read more

I hired STG in April of 2018 to assist with business and personal tax services. Since that time, they have failed to complete the services we agreed on, and multiple attempts to contact them have been ignored. Only one of the eight services they were hired to complete has been completed. I paid Mr. Silver and his firm a total of $13,600 for their "phase two" services and, seemingly as soon as the money changed hands, my calls and emails would take longer and longer to answer until finally I was just totally ignored. I do understand that taxes can require some time, so this is not an issue of me wanting constant updates when there are none -- the firm simply DID NOT DO what I hired them to do. For example, one of the main services I hired them for was to complete & file my business and personal taxes for 2018. I contacted them several times in late 2018/early 2019 to begin work on my tax returns and to see what information they needed from me, but they never returned my calls and simply did not do my taxes. I finally heard from someone -- completely out of the blue -- saying that they were ready to work on my 2018 tax returns IN JULY OF 2019! What? Four months after I had to frantically hire another accountant at the last minute to do something I'd already paid them to do over a year prior. Yikes. I ultimately had to move on and find a local tax accountant to help me. I fell for their seemingly good reviews and their initial attentiveness, but after spending nearly $15,000 with them all in, all I have to show for it is a series of missed deadlines, ignored emails, and enough excuses to fill a small novel. read more

We hired Silver Tax group in March 2019 due to them showing a five star review rating. We were not late with our taxes but had a somewhat complicated return due to money we took out of our IRA and money rolled over from my retirement fund into the IRA when I retired. We paid up front $1300, and a total of $10100 up front to have the attorney's handle our case with California Franchise tax board. They have done nothing but file our taxes, and they filed them late! We are now being charged a late fee, plus interest from the state of California due to them filing late! Silver Tax group is stating they filed an extension but there is no evidence that happened! We send them emails and they don't respond. They tried to file POA with Franchise Tax board but they were rejected 3 time due to them doing electronic signatures. We finally had to beg them to send the papers so we could physically signed them, which they finally did, but not before we were charged interest on what we owed! They told us they would be able to clear any tax liability, but they lied, now they are making all kinds of excuses as to why they can't get late fees waved, and we are now out $10100 and also getting stuck with paying fees! Don't get involved with this company! If a company doesn't have a local office where you can meet with their personnel then don't get involved! read more

Warning! Do not hire Silver Tax Group. On our initial phone call in December, 2018, they said the charge for Phase 1 would be $350.00. I sent them all our documents showing we were taxed by two states on same income. They agreed and were very attentive and sounded aggressive and said they would be able to help. Phase 1 now turned into $800.00 and we should sign Power of Attorney. After months of no correspondence from them. I started to call and email. They finally called a few times to say yes they are working on it. Two weeks ago, they called and said they are ready for Phase 2 which will be $2,900.00 I asked for some proof that they have even done anything. Show me some documentation on what they have done for Phase1 and he sent me an interoffice memo stating they called the states. No written correspondence. When asked how they came up with the figure of $2,900.00 he said it was a simple change on figure our accountant did wrong on IRS form. He said $700 for amended returns and $2,200 for written defense to states and if that doesn't work, we are on our own to pursue further. Yesterday they called and I stated we will not be going forward with them and to send my documents back. He then said he will charge me for postage. I said shred and thanks for $800 of nothing. A second later he called on my husband's business line and my husband called for me to pick up phone when I did he said he would not talk with me only him. My husband told him that you do not talk to my wife like that and we are done and hung up. read more

I think some of these are fake reviews. I hired these people in June of 2017 to do my business taxes. They looked up some information, charged me thousands of dollars that had to be paid before they proceeded, then gave me the run around for 10 months. I dealt with at least 4 different people that would all tell me "we are about to file your taxes". Now it has been a year and 10 months and not only have my taxes STILL not been filed, but I can not get anyone to call me back or respond to my emails. I felt confident working with Silver Tax Group until the money changed hands and then all sense of urgency stopped. Also, I paid $995 for an investigation that was not necessary, because it turns out that the IRS was not able to seize my 401k. It took me one phone call to my benefits provider. Silver Tax spent days only to recommend more options that of course required more money. During the investigation the phone calls got harder to connect and the tone turned quite condescending. Not very good communication, investigating, or overall customer service. read more

We retained Silver Tax Group to assist with our tax debt, costing $7,500. They arranged for 2 separate installment agreements with the IRS, which we began paying and continued for a few months. After about 3-4 months, we received a notice from the IRS that one of the agreements was canceld and we needed to pay the balance in full. When we contacted Silver tax group, they said they didn't understand why we received the notice and to ignore it and just continue paying the installment, and to send it directly to the IRS agent who processed our case and they would keep posting the payments towards the agreement, that everything was fine. We kept sending the payment in directly to the IRS agent as they instructed, yet continued receiving notices that we were going to receive enforcement action. We kept reaching out to Silver Tax group and they continuously emailed back that they did not understand why we were getting such notices, and that they confirmed with the IRS agent that everything was fine. It took several months of back and forth about the matter, and we then received a hand written note from an IRS agent from the office where we continued sending the payment to, as instructed to do so by Silver Tax Group, with the note telling us to stop sending the payments because we did not have an installment agreement. When we AGAIN reached out to Silver about the matter they stopped communicating back to us. We called and called and called and finally they said they would look in to the case. After several weeks they contacted us and told us we would need to start over and that we would need to retain them again for another $7,500. Frustrated and not willing to work with them again after months of poor communication, we decided to retain a different service. As a way to close out our case with Silver Tax Group, they mailed us a hard copy of our file and all of the notes they made regarding our communication. We read through this file and discovered a note in the file where our lawyer stated that they had misfiled a document and that it was going to result in one of our installment agreements being canceled, and that they needed to be prepared for the client to call asking what was going on. This was 3 months before we received the cancellation notice. They knew it was going to happen, and when it did happen they claimed they had no idea why and even confirmed, in writing, that everything was OK and to not worry. And then they wasted our time for months 'trying to figure out what the problem was' only to demand we give them more money to fix a problem they created! When we complained about this, they asked for all of our communications, we emailed them everything and they then sent us a letter canceling their services for us unless we paid them again. read more

Here we go again. I have been trying to get this done since June now. Have been trying to rectify the 4 years of incorrectly done tax returns. They also wanted 2012 signature page which I never received that return. These returns (which are not all of them) have now been done incorrectly 3 times. This has been since August 2016. Now I have a nice refund from the state that the IRS is taking and they refuse to do anything about it. Now they want to send a tax organizer for my info for each year. That showed up 3 weeks later. They are totally ignoring the irs garnishment for the state refund and these returns should have all been filed a year ago and not been a problem. They say its my fault when their staff has done them incorrectly 3 times. And this is not the first group of returns that have been done incorrectly. They also finally realized that they missed doing yet another year in addition to missing 2012. Its like pulling teeth to get phone calls returned, emails answered, etc. I've asked to talk to Chad Silver and his office and operations managers won't allow it. I'll be taking other steps. Maybe then they will be happy. I wonder if chad even knows what's going on. read more
