My son and I just left Silverlake Driving School and I have never experienced such a level of unprofessionalism. My daughter attended years ago without a problem. My son did everything online 2 years ago and received his permit. All he needed was the road test. I called and set an appointment for 11:30 and was told to bring proof of insurance and the permit. When I went in to pay, the woman was asking for a certificate. I told her when we made the appointment, we were not told to bring any certificate and that he has been through the preliminaries 2 years ago and already has a permit. I didn't mind the fact that she was telling us to bring a certificate. All I would have to do is download a copy and bring it back. The actual problem was her rudeness. She proceeded to tell my son that she texted him the information last night. I informed her that she couldn't have, because she does not have his number, and I made the appointment. He is not a student of the school. We are independent of the school, just looking to take an adult road test. She insisted that she texted him and that she dots all her i's and crosses her t's. She then leaned back in her chair and continued to rudely drink her soda. I told her that we were going to take our money someplace else. She mumbled stupid nigger under her breath as I was storming out. I turned around and went back in and asked her for a manager's name or someone over her. She leaned in and said, "No, I'm not giving it to you!" For her to be so bold she may not suffer any consequences and feels comfortable behaving in that manner, but I just want the public to know the level of ignorance I dealt with today. She would not give me her name, but she is an obese woman with unkept, dark blondish, hair. She looks to be about 45 to 50 years old and obviously works the front desk at times. I believe her name to be Patty Reese. I have also contacted the Texas dept of Licensing and Regulation to file a complaint and will let everyone I know with teens looking to get their license, that Pearland driving school and its affiliate Silverlake driving school is not the place to go. I also plan to tell this story to a Houston-based podcast that discusses matters such as this. We have already gotten better treatment at Houston Driving School. I really wish I would have contacted them first. read more

Very professional staff and excellent customer service. I came here to take a driver's test and the staff was very friendly and inviting. I was told everything I needed and how to obtain it in the most efficient way possible. The driving instructor was polite and perfectly conducted my test. Next time a friend needs a license, I'll definitely recommend Silverlake Driving School! read more

UNSAFE UNSAFE! Almost collided with one of thier student drivers because tail lights were out on the test car! I called and informed them. Yes I was upset, i had my babies in the car. The guy who i spoke to was rude and told me they have had a problem burning out. OKAY, dont drive them out w student drivers learning the road! I guess that's okay with this school, wow. Terrible customer service. Inquired over the phone about a class for an adult who already had his permit. Was informed this wasn't standard for them, but they could put together a custom class. Showed up at their Pearland Driving School location and learned it was only for minors to take their complete course and was directed to the other location. Walked in, and was immediately told they could not accommodate anyone who didn't take their full course. On the plus side, we're not out any money, but this is all information that could have and SHOULD have been conveyed over the phone rather than wasting our time. My daughter was supposed to attend 1st day of class 06/21/21. When I enrolled her I went to the physical location and paid half down. I was not given a receipt or confirmation of any sort. When asked I was told I will get packet on 1st day of class. Ok no problem I always have my bank statement as proof. My daughter asked me Sunday before 6/21 about the class. Closed on Sundays ok....Did not receive a CALL, TEXT, or EMAIL as a reminder. On 6/21 I called at 1:00pm then at 3:05pm no answer . They open at the 3pm class starts at 3:30pm. I get a call at 3:40pm that day asking the whereabouts of the student. At this point I expressed my concern with NOT receiving a follow up and how it would take me 30mins to get the child there which means she missing out on the 1st part of class. Nevertheless it was unprofessional and I was upset at how we were starting off advised I would be coming for a refund . When I get there the lady at front desk says you can come back for a check in 2 days . I said No I want a refund now . I then turn irate as they were giving me the run around. I paid by debit card and it should have been as easy as giving it back by debit card. I was then told to go to the home location and they would have a check ready for pick. The drive is 10mins. I get there and was told oh we don't have a check we will mail it to you . I turned irate again. The audacity to have me drive to another location only to be told the same thing when they told the rep to have me come pick up the check. They lady ended up calling the police on me . I then went and waited in my car. When the police got there I explained my side of things. The officer said all you want is a refund I said yes. The officer went in and stayed maybe 10 mins and came back out with a check of $225. This company needs to be shut down. When I arrived I patiently waited gave my name and asked for my $$$ all to have the police called for nothing. That's all they had to do in the 1st place was give me a refund. They did not bother to find out what the problem was or the even make it right . They suck all the way around. This twice before giving this company your hard earned money and about having your children learn from people such as this. read more

Please believe the poor ratings given as they reflect the truth. Very rude and unprofessional establishment. How they are still in business is a surprise to me. They called the police on a parent for asking a question regarding drive time scheduling and reported the individual saying there was a disturbance when clearly they were the ones being inappropriate and outright mean. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.!!!!!! Beware I chose Silverlake DS because it was close to my home. What a mistake. Avoid the headache. read more

This is a mom and pop type of business. It isn't a big conglomerate like Sears that offers a driving school and has a bigger budget. There is a driving instructor, no appointments are offered over the phone, and no one will come to the house to practice drive with you. The student needs to be transported to the school. Driving times are posted on Tuesdays and Fridays in the evenings, and you have to refresh your screen while you wait for the times to post. There can be up to three students in one vehicle with an instructor. Also the student has to wait every 8 days after each driving lesson to schedule another one.When I took a driving class in the stone age in another state there was one instructor to one student, and you scheduled a time and day when you wanted, so this is different. Just a warning, if you schedule a class and then cancel a fee will be charged if no students takes that spot. Overall, I was fine with the service. read more

If I could give zero stars here, I would do it! This school is completely defunct when you need to schedule drive times for your child. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SYSTEM. They do not offer adequate drive times to meet the demand of their students. They expect you to log onto their website at 7:30pm on Tuesdays and Fridays, constantly refresh your screen for a half hour, and attempt to schedule drive times that disappear as soon as they're posted because all families are struggling to get scheduled. It may take 5-10 hours of your effort to get a single session scheduled... but you need 7 of them to be completed within a short time frame! Pearland Driving School was times again better for my other child. I had no idea about Silverlake being so awful or never would have selected them for my 2nd child-driver. I love taking Drivers Ed at Silverlake! The teachers were awesome! The police officer and EMS who came to our class were a lot of fun. I finished all my classes and drive times within 4 months! The owners really care about the students. They made learning fun! read more
