Empty casino. You need to leave the property and drive to town to get food. Apparently they can't get any employees to work there.

Don't come here expecting to win very often on the slots. Just plan on losing whatever money you put in them. On average, I'll go home with more money than I brought maybe about one in every eight visits. Some of the mechanical machines need maintenance on the buttons. Played three today that the "max bet" button didn't work on. Cocktail waitresses Jory Jane and Jasmine have been very nice and are a valuable asset to the casino. As for food, Stats has decent food and is reasonably priced, but some of the staff has been very rude at times, up to the point where we've started leaving to go to the nearby restaurants for food. (Not Edison or Garrison though. They've been great) Phillip M's is impressive. Great food and fine dining. Prime steak. It's pricey, but good, if you want a memorable meal or for a special occasion. Plan to wait awhile. Took more than 45 minutes to get our food last week & our bill was well over $100 for two people. The rooms I've stayed in at Silverstar were outdated but acceptable, but are waaay overpriced on Friday or Saturday nights, which eliminates me staying there on those nights. The rooms need to be comparable with the nearby hotels, in price and in quality. I always end up staying at the hotels down the road instead after going to their convention center concerts. We've decided to start going to other casinos for awhile instead of this one, primarily due to the lack of wins. It's No fun if you almost always go home the loser. What's a game if you never win? We've been coming around twice a month for over 5 years, but now we're going to be going elsewhere, where hopefully the winnings are better. My friend has only had ONE relatively "small" hand pay in over five years, and we've been coming here every other weekend. Not too impressive. read more

Worst hotel ever. Came to Philadelphia for a funeral. Figured a casino hotel nearby would be nice. WRONG. As soon as we opened the lobby door the smoke hit us like a freight train. Being non-smokers it bothers us more than it would smokers. The check-in was fast and we went to our non-smoking king room on the 10th floor. Once we got to the 10th floor we could breathe easier. The rooms seriously need an update and ours was missing the inside handle on the sliding door to the bathroom. It was rough wood with splinters around the edge. There was dust build up along the wall under the air conditioner vent. We went to the pool area to use one of the 3 small the hot tubs. The first one had debris on the bottom and an ash tray submerged in it. The second one had a few leaves on top but looked clean so we used that one. The water was warm but not hot. We ate supper elsewhere so we wouldn't be subjected to the horrendous smoke. Upon returning after attending the wake - about 8:30 pm - we had to listen to a couple fighting, yelling and crying down the hall. (There is ZERO insulation in this hotel. Every sound, every door slam (and I do mean SLAM), every toilet use and flush, every whispered or spoken word, every footstep can be heard. Not only heard but amplified by the acoustics!) Security was called twice on the fighting couple between 9 and 11 pm, but they did not make them leave. They continued to fight and cry until he manhandled her down the stairwell around 11:30. They returned around 2 am, loud and obnoxious in the hallway. A man from their neighboring room opened his door and told them if he heard one more noise he was going to beat his ass! We heard no more from them after that. In short, don't stay here unless you enjoy dirty places full of noise and ridiculous drama that management does nothing about. read more

for the most part pretty decent casinos, but now that Covid is gone and they are allowing smoking. Every slot machine has a dirty ashtray and everywhere you go is full of smoke if you're a non-smoker, it is quite bothersome. Some of the casinos in Alabama have separate rooms for smokers and non-smokers I like this much better and will probably choose to go that way more often. read more

The casino is showing her age and looks dirty, old worn carpeting etc. The food options were limited to room service, a sports bar food and one overpriced restaurant, because the buffet was closed. I was there for a conference so I carried my handouts, notebook, pens etc in a backpack. The conference center is close to the parking garage, but you must go through part of the casino to get there by the shortest route, otherwise you must walk around almost the entire casino. On the first day a young Choctaw man at the security desk asked if I was going to the conference, and allowed me to proceed to the conference center by the shortest route through a corner of the casino floor. On the third and last day, I checked out early and took my suitcase to my car in the parking garage and headed to the conference center. I was stopped by a middle aged black woman at the same security station who was very rude and downright mean, this was Friday 10/27/2023 at approximately 7:30 am. She refused to allow me to cross that small corner or piece of the casino floor to access the conference center. I opened my backpack to show her I only had a notebook with the conference name on it and a legal pad, and assured her I was not there to gamble. I let her know I'm over 60 and it's a very long walk all the way around the perimeter of the casino. She let me know she didn't care, that I could not go on the casino floor with that bag. I ever heard her on the radio of the other security station I passed on my long hike around the casino saying, "There's an old white guy with a backpack, do not let him get on the casino floor. These casinos are horrible!!! I started going about 13 years ago; then it was totally different. All staff friendly; food good, clean rooms and could really win on slots!!! Once Miko (the chief then) was beat out; oh what a joke. It has gone completely down hill. Can't believe it is still in business the staff now is extremely rude!!! I stayed at the Silver Star Casino on October 10th, 2013 in a King Non-Smoking room. I awoke around 2 am with a crawly feeling and immediately jumped up and turned on the light to find about a dozen bedbugs ranging in size from pinhead to pencil eraser size dancing on my pillow!! I immediately showered and then called the desk and it took over an hour and a half to get me to a new room and my clothing bagged and hot dried in commercial dryer. The next day on checkout I demanded a refund from the manager on duty and even showed her the disturbing video I took and she didn't care a bit. The maintenance guy on duty said when they have to deal with this (i.e.:more than not) they dispose of the mattress and quarantine the room with chemicals for days. It got worse from my last review. With it being Christmas you would think maybe they would let their machines hit some but nope not at all. No hot water and the manager told me that I would need to let the water run for 30 minute to get hot water in the section of the Dump-tel.... if that the case why would you put your guest in that section. This is my first time coming to Philadelphia Mississippi to the Silverstar Casino. A group of friends invited me to meet them here. I was all hyped up about coming, since I've never been. The three hour drive was very peaceful, but upon arriving, why I was at the wrong Casino? Lol!! Finally made it to where I was suppose to be and met my friends. As much as I love going to the casino, this was a much different experience for me. I Love the Windcreek Casino and Hotel, because I'm from Jackson, Alabama and don't mind driving that hour to go there because I know I'm going to win something. Here I didn't do anything!! I played a few machines, played max bet and was only winning 30 to 80 cents. That never happens at the Windcreek!! I think this is my first and last time coming here. It's definitely not worth my time or money. I got a card being that it was my first time, and that was a waste of my time also. I was in line to get the card, with one person in front of me. It took them forever to do whatever he wanted done, why the cashier put a sign up saying move to next cashier and she saw me in line. That was very rude, that would have never happened at the Windcreek Casino. So I moved over and the nice lady made me a card. I asked what kind of perks I get for my first time? She said nothing. I was like are you serious? This Casino got all three strikes in less than three hours of me being there. From January 2021 up until today, I won over 50,000 at the Windcreek so if I lose some of it, I'd rather lose it back there. The worst golfing experience of my life. RUDE RUDE RUDE. They seemed mad to be at work. Charged extra for lunch $20 for a burger after they told us it was included with the tournament. They were going to charge the person who put the deposits credit card if we didn't pay the extra money. Broken cart they never came to fix. Take random 30 minute breaks without any service. We came in, rented a room as soon as we walked in the door, and both drew out a couple hundred dollars apiece to play on. Upon getting change to play on from the ATM we were given one mixed drink to split between the two of us. We played for about an hour and a half, nearly 2 hours and were never offered another drink the entire time. Got ticked, went to the room to try and order a drink from there, if not a bottle. When we called the front desk, as well as room service no one would answer the phone. Went back downstairs to try and get a drink off the floor or even buy one from the bar if need be. When I turned on the service light no one came for a few minutes. Finally when they did show up I was told that it was shift change and there wasn't anyone available to serve me whatsoever. I went to another machine and played for a few minutes and turned that call light on as well. That's when someone dashed over there to me, asked me what it was I wanted slightly rudely then proceeded to almost all but demand i turn the service light off since all I wanted was a drink (ALL WHILE PLAYING) yet I still never received a drink at all and finally went to my car to get my own miniature I had stashed in the door. It's such an odd thing-- in the middle of literally nowhere, up pops a legitimate casino with a legitimate hotel and legitimate restaurants. I've never had a bad time here. As a rest stop between Ponchatoula, LA, and Noxapater, MS, the Silver Star Casino offers the Red Hills' best buffet. Some items may be better than others on certain days, but the buffet is so extensive that you'll be sure to find plenty that's good. The restroom is large and clean. I recommend parking on the west side in front, which is the quickest way to enter. You can also take a gander at the posters of big-name celebrities who have played here or are coming soon. If you're looking for a good meal anytime, but especially on a holiday or late night when everything else is closed, this is the place to go. Across the highway, the Golden Moon Casino has an all-night internet cafe with an excellent choice of coffees. Now that I've found the Golden Moon, I don't have to hang out in the Hardee's parking lot 25 miles up the road in desolate Louisville, MS, to do internet in the wee hours. People are always around -- focused on the slots. The tables and chairs are comfortable. Electrical outlets are available. Nice clean restrooms are just down the corridor. You probably have to park on the east side and walk through to get to the internet cafe. Remember not to cut through the gambling area with your laptop; the guards don't like that. read more

Lets face it, Philadelphia, Mississippi, is in a rural, backwoods area of Mississippi. Pine trees and woods are mostly all you see as scenery traveling the highways getting here. Our destination was the Neshoba County Fair, a historic happening in Mississippi that I've heard about all my life but never attended. The fair has been going on since 1889 and features food, fair, entertainment, political speaking, friendly people and harness racing among other activities. When I was growing up, 60 years or so ago, harness racing was a local sport at the fairgrounds in Corinth, Mississippi. Over the years, it has become a rare event around the state and I came here mainly to refresh my memories. As you drive down the highways to Philadelphia, you suddenly do a double take by a most striking architectural sight which seems totally out of place. Shaped like a curving wave that rises to a peak of 20 stories or more with a globe 8 or 10 stories high dangling from the peak. The globe I finally figured out was symbolic of the moon but the overall structure is quite unusual and visually striking. Our reservations were at the Silverstar which is directly across the highway from the Golden Moon Hotel and Casino which is the structure I just described. The Silverstar is an almost identical sized casino and hotel but not as big or unusual. Both casinos are owned by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and an elevated walkway over the highway connects both of them. All of the land in central Mississippi was once part of the Choctaw Indian nation at the time the United States came into existence. The United States government eventually pressured the Choctaw Indians, over a period of years, to cede over 23 million acres of land to the Federal government. Most of the Choctaws were moved to Oklahoma, west of the Mississippi River, by the 1830's. A small group of Choctaws refused to move to Oklahoma and remained in Mississippi living on 35,000 acres of historic homelands held in trust for the Choctaws by the Federal government. Our visit here was primarily for accommodations. The hotel is very nice, rooms are large, beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are very nice. Everything was clean and first class. I would rate the hotel 4 stars by most any standard. Check in was smooth and staff were friendly. I spent a little time playing slots and my son walked to the Golden Moon and enjoyed the poker gaming. We enjoyed our visit and would return again. read more

Well it certainly isn't the best casino I've ever been too but it is probably among the three best you can find in this area (since they only have three). I've stopped in here a few times when traveling between places but it would never be a final destination. If you're bored late at night and looking for something that is 24 hours this is one of the few things to do in the area. read more

I was at the SilverStar Monday. As soon as I sat down, an attendant told me that they were going to close down the slots. Why in the world would they do such a thing around 3pm?! That could have been done in the early morning hours or late at night when there is very little people there. I had traveled 2 hours to get there, I had done more walking to look for machine. Where the machines used to be are no longer there, people who had taken the bus was using the empty space for seating! It was just so sad. With almost nothing to do while I worked in this part of the country, I was ecstatic to find a place like the Silver Star Hotel & Casino! I traveled here several times a few hours away from where i was living to get away. Perfect stays in one of there two resort-grade hotels. I had a great time in their casinos. Its true that the drinks flowed like molasses in the slots but we remedied that real quick by finding one of our favorite games on the computer slots at one of the bars!!! Went there 6 years ago and had a great time. Went back a few weeks ago and was very disappointed. Rometha (?) at the rewards counter was rude and acted disgusted when I asked questions about the rewards card. I complained, but it probably did no good. The other employees were not the friendly people we remembered from years ago. The great buffet that I remembered wasn't great this time. The buffet now is sub standard although the waitresses there were the only nice people we encountered. What happened to the nice friendly people? We left after only being there an hour. Upon arrival we had a quick check in, but it was very confusing as to where to go. Nobody seemed to be able to give us any information on any question we had. The room was clean and nice although it did not have a refrigerator. The cigarette smoke in the casino itself was terrible though. After playing slots for a while, we decided to try the buffet, which is at the Silverstar (our room was at the Golden Moon). We had to walk across the cross walk (but that was ok). We asked several workers about the buffet prior to deciding to try it, but nobody could tell us what was on it or how much it cost. Once there, we discovered rows of food. The salad bar had a lot of different vegetables and toppings to choose from, but the only fresh were the lettuces and spinach. Everything else seemed to be dry and out for hours. There were also 3 different soups to choose from. Then there were probably 4 rows of food to choose from. They had everything from turkey and dressing to hamburgers to fried catfish. Some of it was good and some of it was bad. Perhaps the most disappointing item was the boiled shrimp. It was overcooked and had obviously been sitting out for hours. It was uneatable. The mashed potatoes were dry and the carved beef was dry and old looking by sight ( I did not even attempt to try it--there also was nobody there to serve it). I did enjoy the beef burgundy (the best). The fried catfish was good once they brought out a fresh batch. The cabbage was great. She loved the rutabaga although I think she tasted a little of everything. The desserts looked good, but I think that's about as far as they went. They were the obvious desserts bought from a food service company and thawed. She did eat a chocolate cupcake that she said was very chocolatey. I wish we could say that the food was glorious because, sadly, I think this might be the best that Philadelphia has to offer. The casino: I did not like the fact that there were very few table games opened. There were no Craps tables open at all. We had a good time early in the night. We played 3 card poker and the dealer was very friendly. I was one card away from winning the progressive $7000 prize, which was cool, but hey. . . We moved to the Roulette table and had a nice time talking to some folks while playing. After that, she had had enough and went upstairs. I crossed the catwalk to the Silverstar where they had Craps table opened and did very well; however, after I cashed out and wanted to watch for a while, I was told by the Pit Boss that if I wasn't going to play that I couldn't watch the table and was escorted out of the casino. That did it for me. Last comments: I have been to casinos in Vicksburg, Tunica, the Gulf Coast, Las Vegas, New Jersey, and many other Native American Casinos across the country and I have never felt like I was being watched so by "Big Brother." I felt like I was being watched throughout the entire facility. I had some very nice dealers BUT some very ugly dealers. I don't like being watched by pit bosses and they were on their best... My husband and I visited this casino along with family. We were in town and decided to stop and play some slots. As we were playing the table, the dealer gave too much money to one of the players and immediately accused my husband of taking $100. They took him and his cousin to the security office. I questioned the officers to obtain more information. They wanted me to calm down and tried to explain that these were the procedures within their establishment. As I peered into the doorway, a female office pushed me back and told me that it was illegal to have my phone inside of the casino, which I have never heard before. They made my husband pay an additional $100, to let him leave and escorted him out of the building, even though they admitted that he was not the one that had taken the money. Upon review of the security tapes, they witnessed someone had taken the money that the DEALER had mistakenly given away. But here is the bottom line: If the dealer makes a mistake, then the Casino should reprimand the dealer, and not the guest. If you are a major Casino, you should review your tapes and gather legitimate cause for detainment prior to seeking out retribution. I truly believe that they singled my husband and his cousin out because they were African American males with money and they wanted to take advantage of that. These Indian Casinos have their own laws and regulations in which city and local government cannot and will not get involved. Unless you are really starving to win it big and MUST go to a casino, avoid this place like the plague. Btw, there is really no money to be made here. Stayed here for a conference. All staff were nice. Give them a five. Common areas of hotel and casino also very nice. Room was clean, large and basic. Plenty of hot water and quiet. Free wifi. Had the worse meal ever at Villa in the Silver Star. Food was not edible. I mean really bad. read more

Buffet wouldn't let the other people in our family that paid with different checks sit next to us because of an 18% gratuity of over 6 people . Who has even heard of having to pay gratuity for a buffet? They deliberately put them in a different section of the restaurant. The workers were rude, even the manager. Never coming back . read more

The casino is not bad. Of course it doesn't even compare to the coast casinos, but it's fine for the location. The cigarette smoke is ridiculous. I mean you can't even breathe it's so bad. If it wasn't for the buffet and nothing else to do in Meridian, MS, we probably wouldn't go -- It is connected to the Golden Moon which is cool because they have the Arena and are actually starting to host some good singers. The room was clean. On February 23, 2019, I was in room 4019, a non-smoking room and a non-smoking floor. Around 2 am, the guest in the room next door woke me arguing. I smelled cigarette smoke. Their hall door slammed and someone continued to knock. I looked in the hall and a man was sitting on the floor, smoking. I called the front desk and told them. The front desk said they would have security come up. Security never came. I finally fell asleep around 3 am. At 4 am, the man was knocking on the door, yelling and cursing. I called the front desk again, they said they would have security sent up. Security never came. As I checked out, I told the front desk clerk, she had her supervisor talk with me. The supervisor gave me the number 601-663-0066 and ask me to call the security supervisor on Monday. I did not call until today, Wednesday, 2-27-19. I was transferred to 3 different departments and finally got a recording. I left a message with my name and phone number. Apparently, the Silverstar Hotel is not concerned with the comfort of their guest, the safety of their guest and the problems their guest face when they are on their property. I will not return. It's owned by Native Americans and for the most part they hire within. I have been four times. The bar/club inside is pretty fun..Nothing special just good music and beer.(They had a live band). The bar seats are the best place to sit. The food at the buffet and little pizza/burger restaurant were way below par and expensive with long lines. I wouldnt recommend eating here. The poker room was small and loud and is surrounded by slot machines. The casino gave my husband and I ten dollars each in free play the first time we went when we got a players card. 1st, they couldn't even get my name or info right which I think is pretty simple. You get no comfirmation email like most hotels. Tried to book online and no rooms were avail. I called and they had plenty. ????? If you like food with no taste, this is for you. There were also flies visiting the buffet. Service was horrible! No one came to refill our drinks or clear off our table until we were ready to go! Tip for you guys... Do better. Saw MAYBE 2 workers smiling during my visit. Not a friendly place to visit at all. Also, beware.... There is a $50 deposit that no one verbally tells you about. They just tell you to hit 'accept' when you check in. And they were RUDE whenever I called to inquire about the charge. My husband and i spent a Saturday night at golden moon. We hadn't been here since 2010. Wow has this place gone downhill. The room was clean, bathroom seemed a little outdated. My husband said when he turned bath water on it was rusty. Front desk people rude. Felt like I was being watched everywhere I went. Really creepy. Slots were a joke. Tightest slots I've ever played anywhere. On top of that every other machine I played the buttons kept sticking. Really irritating. We will not EVER return to this casino again.
