Simmone Logue, Cammeray. Average food, high prices, lazy service.

They microwave everything! Ugh. Very high prices for what they make and sloooowwww service. There are better options around here. Popular with smarmy social climbers (if that's your thing).

In the relatively new Cammeray Square, or Stockland Arcade, as it is officially known, are a number of great little cafe's. One such great little cafe is Simmone (Two M's) Logue. One might, when told to go to Simmone Logue assume that Simmone Logue is a person, but who is she? Is she a person whom the cafe is named after? Or is it solely the cafe that is called Simmone Logue? Why wouldn't you give a cafe a human name? It's just as good a naming choice as any other kind. So Simmone is a cafe. A cafe where I went one time to get a soy cappuccino on my way to a meeting. I walked into Simmone and immediately I felt that Simmone was a sophisticated lady, sorry, cafe. It had a classic feel to it, a clean and modern chic. It was full of people and Simmone was serving all kinds of gourmet lunch options to the bevy of people seated within her. I ordered my cap to go and I waited. While I waited I took the opportunity to survey the room; the tables, the chairs, the waitstaff, I found Simone to be young yet elegant, comfortable and upper class. A well to do cafe lady indeed. The coffee was enjoyable and my time in her pleasant. Thanks Simmone, perhaps I'll call again.

Simmone Logue Café in Cammeray is a rustic style café in the Stockland centre in Cammeray. What gets me more than the 'at home' feel furnishings (including book/magazine case and large communal wooden tables) is the food. Homemade pies, sauces, puddings and a seasonal menu that changes every day. Try the Hummingbird cake with fresh mango and cream cheese... m mmmm! They do live up to their 'fine food' experience name. You can order their wholesome fresh food as takeaway if you don't have time to make a healthy meal for the kids one evening. They also do private and corporate catering so get in there to try a few delights if you're looking for a good caterer for your Christmas party this year. Check out the Simmone Logue website for a peak at their beautifully crafted wedding cakes. The café has hi chairs for the bubs, out door tables near the Frangipani trees of the centre's square and pretty tasty coffee. My only 'but' is there's no wifi but if you're more in the mood for a quiet read or natter with girlfriends rather than work this will suite you to a T.

Simmone Logue declares itself (herself?) a 'Fine Food Company.' It/she also has a food philosophy of 'home meal therapy'. Combine these two and you should paint a pretty accurate picture of this charming and wholesome cafe. It's the new sibling to follow in the footsteps of the Double Bay original, and judging from the crowds huddled around the shabby chic tables, it's doing very well indeed. This is a great spot to stop for coffee, or catch up for lunch with friends. There are salads, tarts (sweet and savoury) and daily specials to tempt you. You can also easily opt to buy up a meal and pass it off as your own 'home meal therapy.' Thanks, Simmone!

Nice looking baked goods with a tight seating area. Too bad the taste of the food did not match the appearance. The chocolate croissant had about a snack size candy bar's worth of chocolate in it. The beef filling inside the meat pie had dried up a bit and was quite salty. I've had much better meat pies from frozen food sections at way less than half the price.

Haven't been back to either of the aforementioned shops since then. I always seem to get a combination of some of my favorite items: red bean buns-not to be confused with their red bean "paste" buns, which are thicker and sweeter-, custard buns, egg tarts, plain polo buns, and taro polo buns. There's all range in price $1.00 ~ $2.00, and I definitely prefer their versions to the ones found in other shops as these ones are less sweet and more generous with filing. Also, please be on the lookout for their pre-close specials, where they bag a few assorted items for a hugely discounted price in late afternoon around 5-6pm!

"World-shaking."…read more Not normally how I'd describe anything, let alone a patisserie, but - mon dieu! - what slice of provincial France exists here in outyling suburbia. They serve coffee in bowls. Bowls! Where are we, Biarritz? There's always a queue, a necessary evil I'm afraid but then, with the sheer Gallic quality of, oh, let's see, *absolutely everything* they produce (in the bakery you can see with your own two eyes (three if you're Tasmanian) out the back of the shop, no less), I'd be worried if there weren't a queue. And really, they could charge what they want, these taste magicians. Their artisan skillz endow them with a virtual license to print money. But do they? They do not! A regular latte is a mere $2.80. Say whaaat?! If you don't get in afore 8am you won't even see a Country Loaf let alone snag one. You'll be left with perfect baguettes, homemade jams, petit fours, and the best almond croissants I've ever tasted (and I once adjudicated at the Best Almond Croissants Awards).

Arrive anytime after 10 in the morning and you'll find a seriously depleted selection of breads (their country loaves are a personal fave), but the range of sweets is grazed on throughout the day as guests stop for morning and afternoon tea. Considering the perfection of their pastries and intricacy of each creation, the prices are more than reasonable - just $1.60 for their mini items like raspberry tartlets and coffee éclairs, or $4.50 for a larger items, like the individual roasted, caramelised macadamia cake covered in dark chocolate ganache and flecked with edible gold. The seats are scarce with only some four tables on hand inside, but try to grab one if you can to get the full Gallic experience: the woman regularly manning the till speaks with a bona fide accent, the coffee served as bowls of café au lait rather than paper takeaways, the chairs familiar black-and-white Parisienne wicker creations.
