I wish I could say my experience with Simmon's Well Co. was a positive one, It's been far from it... I had the water system from an existing well done in late 2012. We have a small single wide simulated cabin that didn't have room for the pressure tank to be installed inside the trailer.. Mr Simmons suggested we use an in well pressure tank, as it would take up less space and would be below the frost line..
Up until last fall, we used the trailer as a get away and spent less than a cumulative time of about a month there.. Last summer I decided to relocate and move into the little cabin permanently.. Within three months of everyday use, the relay for the pump failed.. Mr Simmons came over and had to change the pump relay located down in the well.He stated that "it was the original relay". that had failed.. The statement was an outright LIE. The only component reused was the pump itself.
While doing the repair, he spoke to my girllfriend who was home alone at the time Mr Simmons stated he usually didn't perform this type of work and he "only did the installation as a favor" for one of his friends. Another contractor had referred us to him.. His behavior at the time came across like the job was an annoyance, like he was giving us a favor. He charged us $240.00 to replace a part that should have been approximately $50 retail. The repair was done in under 45 minutes time.. At the time, my girlfriend paid cash, but was $40.00 short. Mr Simmons walked away with $200.00 cash and stated he'd stop back for the remaining $40.00.. He lives within our town, it's not like we're out of the way and off the beaten path. NO RECEIPT WAS GIVEN and he never returned to collect the balance.. We've had the balance of $40 sitting in a cabinet waiting for him..
This past weekend, the relay failed AGAIN.. Mr Simmons was called and a message was left.. He returned the call, the conversation was an awkward one.. I explained the situation, he stated that he was away, he "MIGHT be able to make it Tomorrow". He was somewhat combative in his reply and brought up the fact that my girlfriend "never called him to PONY UP THE $40.00".. Yes, the same said $40 that had been put aside that he never bothered to stop in and collect..
With the possibility that we'd be without water for more than 2 days, I had no choice but to call someone else. We have animals that needed water to drink, and we weren't to keen about not being able to shower for a few days I had to call another Well Service.. ,
The result, A $150 charge (almost $100 less than previously charged) and a far from pleasant Revelation.. We learned the pump and relay were located in the well, but the pressure tank was not where it was supposed to be.. It had been placed and installed under the house without our knowledge.. It's a good distance of 30ft away from the relay that's inside the well. The relay failed gain, as will any and all it's replacements in the future.. Doomed to burn out due to the distance away from the Tank..
It turns out that Mr Simmons was unable to put the tank into the casement.. He must have discovered that there's some obstruction preventing the tank from being put into the proper position. Instead of disclosing the problem and pulling the control system out so that system components could be set up within the right proximity to each other, Mr Simmons nicely decided to conceal his error. He left the control system inside the well and hid the fact the pressure tank was under house.. Thank god he at least put some heated cords on the tank and we had the mildest winter in NY history.. We now have to worry about the tank freezing..
Until the discovery today, after having another company (thank you Mr Ives) come to replace the $50 relay that was previously replaced in under an hour, 6 months ago( to the tune of $240.00 ), we assumed that everything was as it should be.. All this time we thought the Pressure tank was in the well, after all, that's what was agreed upon when he did the install..
After 2 killed relays, and surely more come. We are now facing the cold reality that we're forced spend money that we don't have to spare and shouldn't have to spend to begin with.. The system has to be completely redone of it will continue to cost us..
Mr Simmons failed to do the job he was well paid for and knowingly lied to us. I know this is a long review, but I felt the need to let people know what they may be in for. We were lied to, swindled and then ripped off again with the repair charges that should have been done at no cost. When caught, he took the 5th, lacking the character to answer a "yes or no" question when the jig was up. read more
