Not only that, but one issue led to more issues, which of course means $$$. They literally did not put the screws back in on the gasket. Once I discovered this bc of more things going wrong, I decided to call JOE. JOE has an attitude, esp towards women. He denied anything and told me it was not only impossible, but that they never worked on my gasket. He wanted to charge me $150 to have it towed to his shop, and I'm sure would deny the series of events that happened due their lazy and shotty work and charge me more. JOE played games with me in the phone and was horrible, he totally tried to gaslight me, but yet when I called he didn't even ask who I was or about my vehicle, he didn't bother to ask. When I got off the phone with JOE I looked up my receipt, and sue as sh*t they absolutely worked on my GASKET. JOE is a liar and loves to play games. So yeah. I dropped my truck off for them to diagnose a problem I suspected was a timing chain issue. Tony called me back and informed me that I did need a new timing chain kit and it would cost ~$2300 (parts/labor, less sales tax and "shop incidentals"). I decided to get a second opinion from another mechanic and when I picked up the truck, Tony charged me $65 for the diagnostics. I asked him if he had performed any diagnostics on the truck and he said no. They just listened to the truck and agreed with my assessment. I told him that his "diagnostics" fee was unfair since he had done nothing to confirm the problem. He simply pointed to the sign on the wall ($65 shop fee). I told him I would never use his shop again and he said "I'm glad". That afternoon, I stopped by another shop. The lead mechanic listened to the engine and said, "Well, I can't confirm it's a bad timing chain unless I briefly run the engine without the serpentine belt in place." I agreed for him to proceed and his diagnosis confirmed the timing chain was ok. The water pump pulley was bad (making noise). He quoted me $750 to replace the pump (parts/labor).. In Summary, Lowery's Automotive (with Tony calling the shots) did NOTHING to confirm the engine problem and were prepared to charge me over $2300 for a timing chain I did not need. We've all heard the stories of mechanics/shops charging for work that's not necessary. Well, I experienced it firsthand and I'm lucky I did not allow Tony's gang to work on my truck. My dad told me he wanted to put me on with P&S as they were reliable. Background: this is a family owned business. The first time I came to P&S, I brought my 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport to get serviced for a full markup and told him to fix whatever the problem was so that the vehicle can pass inspection. I told him that I will be paying whatever needs to be fixed. Specifically Sam directed all questions to my dad and not me. I thought that was rude because the vehicle is in my name not my dad's. I asked Sam to address me for anything related to the vehicle. Sam continued to make calls to my dad about my car. I would call to get updates on when it was ready; Sam wouldn't speak to me. Instead, I found out he had spoken to my dad. This infuriated me because my dad knows nothing about the vehicle and I felt like my needs were ignored by Sam. He didn't acknowledge me since I was a female. I had to get the information from my dad who told me the car was ready to be picked up. Once I arrived to the shop, I addressed my concerns to Sam. He looked at me like I didn't know what I was talking about. Sam told me he fixed the problem in an affordable way. I asked him why he didn't fully fix everything that I requested prior? His response, "to save you money". I said, I didn't need to save money, but to fix the problem. Again, Sam doesn't listen any requests. I expressed my frustrations to my dad who spoke with Sam. After this, Sam apologized to me saying he didn't know. Nah you knew, just treat females like they matter. It's quite simple. The last time I came here for an oil change on my other vehicle, the Toyota. Sam was seemingly nicer and addressed me accordingly. Last week, I called P&S to schedule an appointment to get my Montero oil leak fixed. Sam answered the line and told me to call back next week. I said okay. Next week shows up, I call P&S to schedule for the oil leak on Montero. Sam told me again to call back next week. I said, Sam you told me that last week when I called. I said, it sounds like you're giving me the runaround. I said, if that's the case I'll find another local mechanic. Sam said that something was up with the computer system. I said, okay. I went ahead and went with Vela.
