I'm writing a review for the Van Ness location. I'm glad I wasn't deterred by the other reviews as I had a really easy and pleasant experience. The office is really clean, I was checked in immediately and only waited 5 min before they called me in for my MRI. Nothing about this place seemed dirty or neglected, which is what I was expecting. It felt as sterile as my Xray place at UCSF Parnassus. I came here because I had to jump through hoops with my insurance company to get an MRI and Simon Med offered through different insurance an MRI that was less expensive out of pocket. I filled out the check in form online before the appointment so my arrival and check in process was seamless. Staff was friendly and professional. I even got my results within 24 hours. UCSF took a whole week to give me my xray results back, and that's after I had to follow up with them. I would definitely recommend SimonMed to others if you need an MRI. read more

Would be no stars if I could. Scheduled my appointment. Checked me in. Charged my credit card. Allowed me to wait in their ugly little waiting room and then told me they don't do that kind of imaging here. No manager to do a refund so left to file a dispute with my credit card company. Also learned their MRI machine is broken and they no longer do X-rays. Add an ugly outdated dirty office and that pretty much seals the deal. Like yourself and don't ever use this place. read more

I'm glad that I didn't look at the reviews before I came to this location. I needed to have a test done and made the arrangements fairly quickly so there wasn't a lot of waiting. I took Bart into the city and it was approximately a five minute walk from Embarcadero station. I got there about 25 minutes before my actual appointment time. I filled out a little bit of paperwork. There was one other person in the waiting room and they went in while I was doing the paperwork. I didn't have to wait very long and then Erik the technician came and got me. He was very professional, helpful and kind. I was done fairly quickly and was on my way home before my appointment was even supposed to start. Overall, I have no complaints. read more

Don't go to SimonMed if you want results quickly. Paid cash to get MRI done quickly vs waiting for insurance coverage bc it was very important to me to figure out what is happening with my leg. I was told I would have results back within 24-48 hours when I scheduled appt. I had the MRI done but they now say they will take 10 days for the result. If I knew they were going to take 10'days to get the report I would have just had it done in my MDs office where it would I would have had the results more quickly and it would have been reimbursed. This was a total waste of money and time. Extremely disappointing and frustrating. read more

A really unprofessional facility and people. I had specifically asked them that I need to be scheduled for a ct scan in a particular week as it would affect a surgery date waiting for clearance that depended on the results of this test. They called me on the day of the test and said that the technician is unexpectedly not going to show up. Earlier they also told me at the last minute all the blood work I needed to proceed with the test. I happened to have the blood work and so that didn't become an issue. They show no remorse and are very nonchalant about everything. Extremely disappointed that my entire surgery related preop appointments and surgery will now have to be rescheduled. read more

Looking at the reviews, I was dreading coming here! I already hate driving to the city, and especially dealing with the parking situation. I sucked it up, and took the ferry. The walk from the ferry terminal to SimonMed is less than ten minutes. Easy peasy! When I walked in the clinic I was pleasantly surprised at how light, bright and clean it was. I was checked in immediately by a nice, efficient young woman. I didn't have to wait very long for the healthcare professional (I think his name was Eric) to call me in, and perform the test. He was kind, helpful, & straight forward. I was in and out in about ten minutes. My test results were delivered to my NP in quick fashion, so all is good where SimonMed Imaging is concerned. 1 star I had a confirmed MRI appointment here today at 5:00 PM. I waited almost two weeks for this appointment, drove 1.5 hours to this location, and arrived 10 minutes early -- only to find the entire clinic closed. Lights off, doors locked, no staff, no signs, no notifications. I received multiple reminders from SimonMed earlier today confirming this appointment, yet no one bothered to inform me that the office would not be open. I rearranged my entire workday and spent hours in traffic for nothing. This is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable. Patients deserve communication, especially for medical imaging appointments that take weeks to schedule. read more

After previous positive MRI experiences with SimonMed, my recent two hours of MRI procedures at the Sacramento Street, San Francisco location, was most distressing and I shan't be back . . . First, the headphone / intercom system was faulty and the technician soft-spoken with a dialect so all I could hear was a mumble. The ear buds provided were removed so I could at least partially hear him - but subjecting me to excess MRI pounding noise torture. Next, as I was suddenly without warning being mechanically ejected from the narrow tube after the first MRI, the side wall struck my elbow causing a nasty bruise. As this was happening I screamed and squeezed the emergency rubber device but no one responded. When the technician and his assistant came back into the room I told them what had happened, but they appeared unconcerned and did not so much as look at my elbow nor check the emergency call device nor apologize. I asked the technician to please advise me before ejecting me after each of the subsequent MRI imaging sessions were completed - but alas, NO, he failed to do so - communication in general being sparse and lacking throughout. When it came time to insert an IV for the "contrast" portion of the imaging, I explained to the technician that based on past experience, I requested he use a particular large vein on my left arm. But NO, he insisted on painfully puncturing my right arm and causing a "blow out" of the vein, and in the end using the vein I had suggested. Then, the first two of only four tests using contrast were faulty because due to the low sound volume problem, I missed the "hold your breath" cues. Again I hollered and repeatedly pressed the emergency call device to let the technician know I did not understand what he said, but no one responded. After I came out of the tube, it was finally discovered that the emergency call device was not functioning!!! I asked the technician if he could please repeat the faulty tests where I failed to hold my breath, but NO, he could not be bothered. With IVs and bandages and injured elbow, I struggling repeatedly to try and get up from the narrow MRI bench at the end of the two hours of procedures. Would the hefty male technician standing, watching me lend a hand - NO, of course not. But the more diminutive nurse finally did. Prior to IV insertion, one must drink a lot of water ahead of the procedure so that the veins are dilated. I previously had a very painful "hold it" experience with a full bladder during a lengthy MRI. You would think that disposable diapers would be provided on request - just in case. Ask if they had one - as I did - and the answer, you got it, no - simply "NO!" .  Worse yet, NO instruction was provided to drink plenty of water after the contrast procedure - a must in order to flush out the injected chemicals from my system to prevent kidney damage. Upon leaving I asked the front desk (per my doctor's instructions) to insert a note in the chart for the radiologist who would be writing the report. NO - they could not do that. Could they tell me who to call to correct the notes they did have which left out some very important information. Answer - you guessed it. Oh NO, they couldn't tell me that either. On a humorous final note: The gowns did NOT tie properly, gaping open in front and exposing everything for all to see. The middle-aged Jewish woman coming out of the dressing room as I was leaving summed things up: "Great gowns", she exclaimed. "They suck!" read more

There was a misunderstanding about the paperwork I submitted for my MRI. The tech was under the impression that there could be metal in my foot. There is no metal in my foot, but they canceled my appointment anyway because "process is process" and any mention of potential metal in the intake process disqualifies you even if it's an error. It's for the best anyway. Do you really want to trust your health to a group that can only blindly follow a checklist and not use any common sense or human judgement? read more

Fast service, terrible billing. Twice ive had billing issues here. Once, I paid my coinsurance in cash, and they still came after me for it because I had no proof, so I had to pay twice. The second time, they said I owed them because I hadn't met my insurance deductible. But x-rays are not subject to deductible under my plan. So now I have to chase the money. I don't know if its unscrupulous or just stupidity, but I'll stick with radnet, who I've never had an issue with. Update: They also billed and recieved payment from my insurance. So yea, incompetent at best, and very sketchy at worst. Further Update: Still chasing my refund. They are just sitting on my payment, as well as the insurance payment, claiming they are waiting on the EOB to verify reimbursement. I got the EOB a month ago and sent it to them. DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE A DIME! They'll try to get cash upfront even when your plan doesn't require it. The service was good as mentioned above, so make them chase YOU for payment. read more

The call center scheduling appointments is essentially useless. They do not know when machines are not working and are unable to search for other locations. I had to tell them what other locations were nearby one by one to look for open appointments. This is after they canceled me twice due to machines not working. After the first cancelation I called 3 separate times to verify my appointment. They kept verifying although the machines were broken the entire time. So of course they canceled my appointment at the last minute. read more

I will try to keep this short. They do have many convenient locations. Office is clean and organized and the staff are efficient and polite. Here is the kicker. Before scheduling my appointment I made sure my insurance covered the imaging. I even have an approval letter from the insurance company stating the imaging is covered. When I arrived to check in the receptionist immediately asked for payment stating "most' imaging is not covered by insurance. She did not even ask to suggest IF I have insurance coverage!! I told her that I called and have a letter. I had to convince her I am covered. I ending up asking her to bill my insurance first and then if not covered I could pay then. OMG totally opposite of how it should be I thought this was a fluke so kinda ignored it. (my insurance paid by the way) Then a few months later my wife also had the same imaging scheduled. She also prepared, called insurance first and got the approval letter (I told her to get ready for the above) Lo and behold she went through the same thing when checking in at the office but worse! The receptionist would not take her letter nor believe insurance would cover. Now realize she went in for the exact same imaging and with the same insurance coverage. They instead called the insurance company to verify she is in fact covered and that the procedure is covered. (insurance paid this bill too) Makes you feel like they are scamming patients to pay and out of pocket while not making the effort to bill insurance company. They messed up my scheduling - updated the appointment up15 mins and when I showed up at the original time (which was only 15 mins after their "updated time") their receptionist refused to help find another appointment And offered me something 3 hours later! I had to get on the phone line to find a different appointment bc the receptionist was so unhelpful. I actually had a reasonably good experience here today, despite my appointment being canceled the week before and also apparently 10 minutes before I arrived at the office (something to do with Blue Shield just not responding to the referral request). Long story short, they were able to squeeze me in, and the scan took only about 10 minutes. There was one person at the front desk who I think was new and had no idea what was going on. There was another person who appeared from the back to help her out who was super nice and extremely helpful. The tech who took the scan was really sweet and calming as well. He was informative without being intimidating and really proficient. Making the appointment and filling out the forms online was easy as well. If they could just work on not cancelling your appointment without informing you, then it would have been perfect! read more

I will give a bad review on this with scheduling. They are very rude and everytime you call you get different answers. My husband booked an exam for this Friday at Vanesss SF and when we called them this morning they said everything is scheduled as planned. But then we got a text again that they need approval from our insurance which i already called my insurance and they said they have not gotten a request from Simon MED. I cancelled the procedure and I will just get it in another facility. I dont recommend this facility. read more

The scheduling department is horrible. Had my appointment canceled due to an error in scheduling by Simon Med team. When I called to ask why my appointment was canceled, I was told it was an insurance problem. This sent me on endless phone calls between my insurance (who said they never received a request) and Simon Med team, only to find out (by another staff member of Simon Med) that it was a scheduling error on their part and not an insurance issue. I asked to speak to supervisor on many occasions, sent an email, left my number, and after many, many attempts to rectify the issue over the course of a week I still never heard back from anyone. Awful experience trying to make an appointment. Cannot access any of my referral order info, not name, address, contact, insurance, referring doctor, text requested, diagnostic code (??), etc. Took over 1/2 hour. She kept making mistakes and asking for information that ended up not needing. Then, I got an email confirming my appointment and directing me to the patient portal to answer questions and upload my order. The 1 star I am giving is for Carolyn, my ultrasound tech who kept the room warm, talked me through a somewhat uncomfortable procedure and explained what she was doing every step of the way. If it was possible, I would give 0 stars. SimonMed is conducting improper billing. I was referred by my primary care practitioner for a pelvis ultrasound transabdominal and transv [non-obstetric] (CPT codes: 76856,76830). SimonMed sent a claim to my insurance for those CPT codes and a completely new procedure, a vascular study (CPT code: 93975). Finally, they sent me a bill for the transv [non-obstetric] ultrasound (CPT code: 76830) and the vascular study (CPT code: 93975). They then proceeded to charge my credit card for an amount that is not listed on the estimate they provided me prior to the appointment, the claim from my insurance or the bill they sent me. When I called to asked for an explanation for the discrepancy, they told me it would take 30-45 business day. This is not hard, provide patients with the service they are referred for, give accurate estimates for the services you'll be providing and then bill for those services. If you make a mistake, fix it in a timely fashion. Don't come here, you'll end up dealing with billing for months. read more

My 80-year-old mother had a very negative experience at this SF location on 11/12/2024. They provided her with incorrect instructions, which was frustrating because she had traveled a long distance to get there. Upon arrival, she was told that there was no technician available. When my mom inquired about the possibility of seeing a technician at another location, she was informed that she would need to go to Daly City. My mother then requested the receptionist to print out the doctor's referral, but the receptionist replied coldly, "Wait." My mom waited until 3:57 PM and then attempted to call the Daly City location to confirm if a technician would be available. However, she discovered that the number was the same as the one for the San Francisco location. When she asked the receptionist again if she could verify the availability of a technician, she was told that the technician would be off work at 4:00 PM. This was quite puzzling since, at 3:57 PM, the receptionist had suggested that my mother go to Daly City for an X-ray, which is impossible for an 80-year-old to do in just three minutes. We tried to call and request to speak to a supervisor, but after a long wait, we were repeatedly cut off. Please be cautious when considering this place. Thank you for reading! read more

Do not go here for ultrasounds if you're undergoing fertility treatment! They provided incorrect measurements to my Dr. which caused me to have a cancelled cycle. Book with fertility clinic instead otherwise risk a whole cycle. read more

My daughter came here for a abdominal CT scan and they required us to pay for the visit prior to the scan. We paid the sum of $460.00 on a credit card. They also billed my insurance for the visit for the same amount. They were paid by the health insurance carrier and have not issued us a refund for the overpayment. This issue was discussed in length with the billing department, billing supervisor and met w/ frequent excuses why the refund has not been made. I've tried to discuss this w/ their corp offices but have not received any responses. It's been over 2 months since payment was made by us and the insurance and no refund has been issued. Filing a complaint w/ the BBB, my insurance carrier and my credit card company. I can not recommend this facility due to their poor business practices, questionable behavior and unwillingness to accept responsibility. UPDATE: Services were paid upfront per "their" policy at the beginning of April 2023, filed multiple complaints against them through the BBB, insurance and credit card company. I additionally reached out to multiple individuals at their corporate offices. Finally received a refund on 7/25/23. Approximately 4 months after initial payment was made. Totally unacceptable business practices. My family and I will not be using Simon Med for any future diagnostic testing. read more

I would only recommend coming here if someone else is paying for your ultrasound. While the care I received was great and the facility was fine, billing was an absolute nightmare. I was charged 4 bills totaling $5137 by SimonMed when in reality I only owed $140 according to insurance. This place is the absolute worst. I had planned to get a full body MRI and lung CT scan here, and my appointment has been canceled two times in a row with just a few hours notice because the technologist failed to show up to work. My husband had managed to get a scan here a couple of months ago, and the experience was awful. When we showed up, there was no one working at the front desk and there was a sign that said "out to lunch". We showed up on time for the appointment, so there should've been someone at the front desk to get us checked in. When someone eventually showed up, they had a bad attitude and was rude. When my husband was inside the MRI machine, he could barely hear the technologist giving him instructions. Stay away from this place. Poor equipment, sound issues, rude and unreliable workers. read more

This place is so badly run. Operationally they're a disaster. It takes 30 minutes on hold just to reschedule an appointment. The whole place is held together with duct tape and baling wire, and it makes some of the shitshow startups I've worked for look like paradigms of operational excellence by comparison. I don't think it's incompetence; I think it's just a culture of no accountability combined with understaffing, resulting in schedules that bear only a whimsical relationship to when you'll actually get seen. That comes from leadership, and I'm forced to conclude that the leadership of SimonMed couldn't find their own asses with a map, flashlight, and proctologist advisor. read more

I was a little worried with the reviews which left me feeling nervous about my visit, but overall I was very happy. Scheduling was very simple. My provider's office started the process with Simonmed and then Sani emailed me directly with my appointment options. She gave me more than enough to choose from within the days I provided, and I was able to pick a mid morning Friday appointment to hopefully avoid traffic since I was driving from the far East Bay. Before I even left I researched parking and prices, so that wasn't a shock (it's the city, parking is limited and $$$ everywhere). The Embarcadero Center parking lot is super close and easy though. Right around the corner. I arrived 30 minutes early as instructed and Sani was just as pleasant in person as over email. Got checked in and waited at most 2-3 minutes before they brought me back to change. There is a locker for your items. The CT scan itself was quick and easy with clear instructions. The tech (didn't catch his name) was very nice and efficient. In and out very quickly. Took me longer to find a parking space. I was in and out in a half hour total from the time I got out of my car to when I returned to my car. The facility was clean as well. I wouldn't hesitate to return. read more

I received a voicemail this morning telling me my appt has been cancelled and asking me to call back. Again, every time I call the phone rings 4x then i get a busy signal. I will never try to go to this location again. After I posted this I tried calling the corporate number on their website. Told them of the issue and that I wanted to schedule at another location. After trying to run me through all my contact and insurance data again, because of course I could be spoofing myself, she gave a date and time, then started telling me the address and I told her I was done because she had scheduled back in this black hole of a facility again! read more

Second one they called me 30 mins before my appointment saying the tech is sick. I needed same day results so it needs to be done in the morning. They do not have an appointment that works for me. Had to come here for a quick CT scan of my heart first thing in the morning. I parked in The Embarcadero Center parking lot across the street and got a nice case of sticker shock since it's $20 a visit there! Anyway, the staff here was very nice and I didn't have to wait long before Greg took me in back, wired me up, and put me in the machine. The machine actually talked me through the procedure, which involved holding my breath for several seconds as it scanned me. The good thing about my CT Scan was that I didn't have to go all the way into the machine, so I avoided any claustrophobia. :-) Afterwards, I walked over to a nearby hotel for breakfast and then headed home. Not bad for a morning's work! read more

He hung up on me! I was unable to make the appointment for MRI. They should fire this guy! He is the same guy that cancelled an imaging appointment in the past without any notifying me. read more
