I feel like this place is getting a bad rap for issues beyond their control. I went in for an MRI only to find out that my insurance claim had been denied. I was obviously frustrated and upset, but that's on United Healthcare, not the people at SimonMed. In fact, the women at the front desk (Katherine and Adriana... I believe those were their names) were incredibly kind, going above and beyond to try and help me out. They called my insurance, they called my doctor, they walked me through what I needed to do to ensure I wouldn't have to pay out of pocket. They made sure I was able to be seen the next day, and they did all of this with compassion, empathy, and smiles on their faces. Listen, healthcare in this country is a joke and MRIs are no fun, but let's not blame the people who are trying to help. If anything, the staff at the SR SimonMed made the situation as pleasant as possible. When I went back for my MRI, they checked in on me and even got me in and out early. Show a little kindness and you'll get it doubly in return. read more

This is my second time getting an open MRI at this location and I highly recommend! They make you feel very comfortable and supported when you have a fear of this. They give you a blanket if it is cold too. This will be my go to for imaging period. read more

I highly recommend Simonmed San Rafael for large bore MRI and open MRI. They have expanded and have several machines and techs, and they are very clean, professional, and provide the clean hospital gowns , dressing rooms with locking doors, and lockers for your personal items. John has done 3 MRI's for me recently and is super kind and helpful. He is patient and professional, and he checked on me each time to see how I was doing. These are caring professional people! Apparently, the x-ray tech is out for the week ?! and they couldn't be bothered to update their website so for those of us that made a special trip here and actually tried to call to confirm availability (but they don't pick up their phone) you absolutely just wasted at least an hour or more of your time. The website says open til 430 and 1 person waiting. That wasn't at all accurate. If you have alternatives, use them not this place!!! read more

HORRIBLE!!!! From start to never finishing the MRI. This experience was the worst debacle of all time...1. Changes my appt. Over a dozen times....2. Put me in a closed MRI when the order was for open MRI. The black woman in the San Rafael CA. office violated my HIPPA rights by announcing to the entire full waiting room that I was claustrophobic as she asked a young man "are you claustrophobic like this woman? Let's put ***** in the open and give you the closed" I say black woman because she would not give me her name and when I asked for the manager she gave me a bogus email address. I was left in the machine too long and despite pushing the button to get me out I was ignored to the point of me needing to yell, "get me out of here!". It was a horrifying experience. I made it clear to everyone working I suffer from genuine PTSD . Not some made up issue. But a serious condition so please work with me. This staff was F-. They deserve negative star. Definitely not one star. They were all much worse than one star. Equipment was tattered, yellowed and torn fabric...the facility was archaic, filthy and in a strip mall setting next to the freeway with lots of noise. Office was stuffy and hot till I got to the MRI machine where it was freezing cold. John who performed my partial MRI wouldn't even look at me after I said I was supposed to have the open MRI. I spoke with him on the phone and I determined after that call I did not want him. He was impatient and would not listen to my questions. He talked over my voice and never answered my question. We had the absolute worst health care experience ever at this place in San Rafael. It's a filthy facility in a run-down shop next to the noisy freeway. It began with scheduling nightmares (two of them) that took hours and numerous calls to rectify. When we finally got a confirmed appointment, we were met by a horribly rude front desk person. She claimed our appointment had been canceled. Though it was very much confirmed, she summoned the radiation tech (Erin). Erin simply barked that we wouldn't been seen and pointed to the door. No explanation. No apology. No rescheduling. Just a point to the door. When we didn't immediately leave as ordered, she threatened to call the police. For real. It's truly hard to believe the treatment we received here. Is it even a legitimate business? Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Complete lack of accountability and follow-through. Had my MRI scheduled weeks ago and they never followed up with the doctor to get the order until the afternoon of my appointment, and they didn't get the order faxed to them in time, so I had to cancel an hour before i was supposed to get the MRI. This was after I'd been calling them for days to do so. Wasted so much time and energy on the phone with their call center who was of no help whatsoever. Will never work with them again. Absolute worst business. Patient care is non existent. Mri tech has no patient manners at all. I was degraded, she raised her voice at me, she gave me wrong information, she gave me false information. She got so frustrated and was not willing to listen to a single thing I had to say. She threw her arms up in the air and said "I am done with you, no more" and proceed to turn around and walk off. As I have some medical experience behind me professionally, this was absolutely disgusting to have gone thru. Mri tech was a female, blondish hair and tattoos on right arm. The name has changed at least twice, but the service remains unchanged. I arrived thirty minutes early, and was told my appointment was earlier, that's not what I recall confirming TWICE, once on Friday, and again on Monday. Thankfully, Derek; the technician was kind enough to form through his lunch and get my scan done. Years ago they offered music, they no longer do that, so, I managed to meditate my way through the process. I'm extremely claustrophobic, so an open MRI is hugely beneficial for me. I don't like to take medication or be sedated these days, and certainly don't need any of that here. Very clean facility and they have Hershey Kisses at check in. I see people complained the location is permanently closed, that's not correct, and they absolutely do not give CD'S any longer. Thanks for the great experience ... again!!! read more

Had an excellent experience that I'm surprised not many others have shared. After being requested to visit an imaging facility, this facility called me to schedule me an appointment. They offered me a variety of dates and I told them the one that worked best for me. They gave me a few time slots and I told them which one I wanted, and that was it for my scheduling. Like any other medical appointment, I had to fill out some paperwork with my insurance and general problem areas before proceeding. All the staff here are remarkably nice. Anyone who is nervous or gets scared of MRI's will really be put at ease at the staff here. I am personally a sillier person and the staff let me lay down the jokes as I was put in the machine for imaging. The fact that they played along with an otherwise serious process really helped me relax. During imaging, the staff was available to answer my silly small questions and offered me a button for if I got too scared. Easy scheduling and nice staff who you can tell truly care about their patients and just want you comfortable. I would absolutely come here again. I mean, I hope I don't have to, but I would certainly prefer this location if given the choice. As someone else said, the parking lot is quite small. The catch 22 is the waiting room is also small (yet perfectly fine for how many customers they had at the time), so really parking shouldn't be an issue. read more

Even though I checked multiple times to see if they had the paper work they needed, and they reassured me each time that they did, they didn't so when I arrived they refused to do the procedure and told me to go figure it out myself and get back to them. Worst experience of my life with any MRI facility, medical facility, or customer service in general. First, the front desk employee, Adriana, refused to accept my MRI order for no discernible reason and repeatedly told me that I "had an attitude" for asking what the issue with my order was, so I could fix it. My physician sent over the order two more times and Adriana was unable to communicate what the issue was and refused to look into it. Erin Moore, the technician in the attached photos (who I recognized from other reviews by patients who had the same experience), then barged in to berate me for trying to identify and fix the issue. This technician, Erin, was "taking a break" during my scheduled appointment time (presumably getting high by her insane/erratic/aggressive behavior) and caused a scene, refusing to fulfill my order, which I had sent to this facility four times by that point -- faxed twice and emailed twice -- but they still couldn't find or wouldn't accept them. I completed my insurance paperwork and intake forms ahead of time and was early to my appointment. I immediately got the MRI that I needed at a different facility. I would pay any amount of money to avoid this place. WOW I've never had an experience like that in my life, and luckily I got most of it on tape and will be reporting this facility to authorities. My singular Simon med experience, a total of 10 phone calls to operators who had no relationship at all to the business and would not connect me to anybody inside of the business, who scheduled appointments that were later canceled and the final scheduled appointment date was canceled moments ago by an operator who, when I relayed this experience, hung up on me. A little over an hour in time spent for a test that would've cost $150. Nobody inside that company seems to care very much. Very insulated and simply focused on cash flows at the expense of everything else. Is that medicine? read more

I went to this locaction because I was very claustrophobic and I needed to have a MRI done and the young ladies all three of them were so great that they made me feel real warm and confident that I could do the test. The young lady at the front greeted me with a smile and warmth then there was the technician and the student that reassured me that everything would be fine and they new what to say to make me comfortable without any sedatives. I just had an open MRI at the San Rafael facility and the staff there are stellar! Virtually no wait time. I was greeted by Michelle who was very attentive and made sure i was comfortable. And the technician, Erin, was simply amazing in the way she handled my obvious anxiety. I am extremely claustrophobic but she was able to put me at ease and made the process completely tolerable. I am eternally grateful to the team there for getting me through this -- without the use of any drugs! As for logistics, there were a few minor snafus but nothing that would reflect on the overall experience. I would recommend this place to anyone needing an MRI -- especially those with claustrophobia. read more

Do not use this company. They care so little about patients, regardless of pain levels and how long patients have been enduring them. As in-network providers, they are supposed to be the logical choice. They told me on a voicemail that an MRI on my toe would be almost a thousand dollars, then canceled my appt due to questions they were having w my insurance company. They gave me a number to call and when I called it, they had me on hold for literally and hour and 25 minutes at which point I finally had to hang up. The entire time I was on hold, the prerecorded message telling me how important my call was felt like a cruel joke. They made no attempt to contact me or to make anything better. I made an appointment for an MRI for 7:15am 6/14/21. I received a confirmation text 6/10/21; another text to fill out check in process on 6/13/21; and finally a text the morning of 6/14/21 with a link to click when we got there. Clicked yes on the link that I had arrived and ready to be seen. My son and I went to the door and the office was dark. The door was locked so we knocked and knocked with no response. A workman in the parking lot came over to us to let us know that the office was closed for renovations. He said quite a few people with appointments had been coming by to find it closed. What kind of business is this. My son tried calling an office number but the woman that answered didn't know what was going on. I was in so much pain that we just drove the hour back home. read more

Ironically, I had what was probably my best ever MRI experience at this SimonMed, and my worst ever at their Daly City location. Reading these reviews it looks like a real crap shoot. Here in San Rafael though I had amazingly well-curated experience with Erin who took great care in understanding why I was there, carefully explaining how every step of the experience would work, and making sure I was as comfortable as possible and managed my expectations really well throughout the process. This is probably my fifth MRI but my first here. Unlike others I have had this is the open type as opposed to the tube type. It was also warm in the room and not freezing cold like I have experienced in the past. Derek, the technician, was super nice and seemed genuinely concerned for my comfort. I told him I was in a lot of pain and during the MRI he told would tell me when it was ok to move my feet and wiggle my toes. read more

The staff started calling me several times the day before my appointment telling me they did not have my insurance authorization. I cleared that up with my insurance company. When I arrived for my appointment they then told me they did not have the doctor prescription. I then took care of that by calling my doctor. The scan went smoothly. Then as I was checking out the front desk gal told me I owed the entire amount for the scan $700. I told her my insurance was paying 90 percent. She insisted I was wrong. I got my insurance on the phone, they told her I only owed 10 percent of the scan charge. I ask to speak to her manager. She finally gave me her number. Several times the front desk gal insisted I give her my credit card number to hold until things were worked out. I finally left and had my insurance company work out the issues. The manager was polite when I called her to confirm that the insurance company had worked things out. Overall, very unorganized company causing unnecessary stress because of ill trained employees. I will not be going there for a scan again. Further, getting my scan result on their website was a rubric cube experience as well. Also, they do not tell you that the results are available on their website when you get the scan. Nor did they sen the info to my Doc. I had to figure it out.... No thanks to their non answering phone messages. read more

Completely unprofessional and do not waste your time. Not only does the girl up front talk like she has no clue about your appointment. She keeps blaming "they" for the scheduling errors. Despite receiving 3 email reminders and 2 text message she insisted we were not on the schedule. She never apologized or took responsibility for the company's errors. As we were waiting there was a man in the waiting room who was experiencing the exact same thing!!! What ever is going on there is none of my business but they will not get my business. Similar experience as others -- impossible to reach the front desk of location (ever) despite the fact that when I sat in the office during my daughter's MRI I never observed the receptionist Josie (sp?) on the phone once. Unfortunate because the MRI itself was executed well, with high marks for the technician. Unfortunately, customer service since then has been an absolute train wreck -- we were issued a blank image disk, and when I came back to the office to get a replacement disk, I was told the disk I had was fine, only to be subsequently notified by phone that there was indeed an IT problem, and that I would have to get a replacement. Have been trying for several days now to reach the location to get a replacement disk, and as always impossible to get anyone to pick up, and I have since by informed by the call center that the location has been closed (!) with no notification whatsoever. Now I am scrambling to get a copy of the images from another location, but once again am unable to get through and talk to someone real time. Save yourself the heartache and choose another location, even if SimonMed less expensive. read more

I cannot make an appointment using their phone number. I press all the right buttons, wait and listen to annoying music for 10 - 20 minutes, only to get disconnected. I thought this was just a one-off issue but it has now happened three times over a period of two weeks. I love the folks at Simon Med who perform the imaging but the reception staff have not got their act together. They can call you to make an appointment but it is impossible to call them back if you missed their call and want to make an appointment. I am giving up on Simon Med imaging and will ask my doctor to refer me to another imaging service. It is such a shame. read more

Extremely unprofessional. Not only did my dr have to send a referral multiple times, they acted like they just received it when they called to schedule. However, they had the order for a week. When you call the receptionist, she answers as if it's her personal line and she is annoyed you are calling her. She does not mention SimonMed or the location whatsoever. They are completely rude. If you ask a question about your procedure they act as if you are stupid. Wouldn't recommend spending any time or money here. read more

The Dr sent my MRI order to Simon Med. They said they would call me to set my appointment. They did not. I went back through the Dr office, who called SM and they denied having received the order. The Dr stayed on the phone until they found the order, which had been properly faxed. Two days later I called to make the appointment. They would not do so until the order cleared through the system. Dr and I tried the same round again. On the third try, they again (brusquely) denied having received the order at all. I will go elsewhere. read more

Simply awful! Worst of the worst. 2 hour wait to reach a human being. After many attempts I did connect with an individual who did NOT speak English. Seriously! After making a number of attempts to communicate with this person I hung up and called back hoping to get someone who could understand me. No luck. Like I am going to have an MRI done at a facility that A. doesnt answer the phone; B. represented by people who cannot understand English and C. will not connect you to a supervisor. From a car dealer, maybe, not a healthcare facility. Dont waste your time. This place screams nightmare. read more

total Idiots answering phones there. I had an appt for weeks on Sept 23rd. I called them to send me directions since in was driving a long distance to use the open MRI machine. The girl that answered the phone said my appt had been canceled since they did not get the order in time. I called my doctor and they said they did have the order. Now the day before the scheduled appointment I get a notice to make sure my paperwork is filled out before showing up for the appointment on the 23rd.
