A very nice modern store that has chic clothing; you can really see the French influence here. I like how spacious the layout is and the neatness at how the clothes are displayed. The cafe others are raving of is apparently closed. Also, a couple other reviews mention it's for all family members, but when I went a couple weeks ago, they did not offer children's clothes. This isn't a fancy or high-end store - but I think for what it is and what they charge, it's a fantastic place. You may not find formal wear here, but for about everything else for 95% needed in life, you should find it here (or for men's at least). I'd almost liken it to if the Gap company put all their stores in one place (Old Navy, Gap and Banana Republic), but then a sprinkling of fairy dust to then bring it up a level in each respect. You'll find casual, casual with a bit more style, work-appropriate and even dressier (but not formal). I was quite surprised how how reasonable the prices seemed, even at regular price in many cases. But if you're looking for sales, they're here in abundance too. Most of what they offer are house brands, but from what I saw, that's a good thing! I won't really bother going into specifics since there's just so a huge amount of stuff to choose from, and all sorts of styles and fits. But apart from people looking for high-end fashion, most should find lots of stuff here they'd like. I almost feel that this place is a bit slept-on as it wasn't terribly busy. I found this store online first and bought some things from them. Then I was with a friend shopping at Square One, and checked it out. The store has a great selection of clothing, but my real interest is in the home goods. They have a great selection of things from pillows, to bedding, to kitchen, to dining. A lot of it with a fun vibe. I love my Christmas dachshund pillows and cocoa mat for the front door. The delivery for the online order was great too. Staff were friendly in the store as well. I will definitely be buying more from them in future. PS - they often have great sales -- so keep an eye out! read more

This is a chain from Montreal, and I find the price in general quite reasonable. But what I like best about the store is its cafe. It's very inviting, with large windows opening to the outside, you can sit outside if you wish. My friend highly recommends their pistachio croissant, and I have to say, the croissant here rivals many bakeries I've tried elsewhere! Service is very nice too. The girl at the register missed out an item (there were a bunch of us and we couldn't make up our minds, so ordering was a bit chaotic), and they brought it over to us, and didn't charge us for it. Moreover, their price is very reasonable. If you get tried shopping in the mall, this is an excellent place to relax and recharge! read more

I usually come here for the clothing (to shop till I drop) but this particular visit was to specifically visit the Eve café, located on the second floor of Simon's. It's actually a very quaint and modern café, situated in the back left corner from the position you face when coming up the escalators. They have sofas and round tables, as well as a patio area with some umbrellas and comfy chairs. The café itself offers a variety of different foods. My friend got their grilled cheese, which typically comes with bacon inside and pickle on the side. Since he's vegetarian, he asked for it without the bacon and they kindly accommodated his request. We also got drinks - I ordered their iced macchiato, and while one of my friends got the same drink, the other got their iced coffee. He found the iced coffee to be slightly on the sweet side. My iced macchiato, however, was perfect. It was silky smooth, but still had a very rich espresso flavour. Not bad at all! Definitely an option to consider for coffee when in Square One :) read more

This is a Quebec transplant that came over and spread their chic and affordable fashion to the rest of Canada. It's an interesting take as I figured department stores are not doing so well. Simons is geared towards fashion (all family members) and a bit of home decor. You won't find pots, pans, power drills, or home insurance. This makes it a nicely curated experience. As one of the key corner stores in Square One, Simons covers 2 floors and is pretty big. Not as big as a Bay but certainly more than Holt Renfrew down the halls. The aesthetics are actually quite nice. White background with modern clean lines with the colours coming from all the clothes. The main space is mostly for women's and young teens clothing with the upstairs is for men's clothing and their cafe. If no one told me what store it was, I would think it would be closer to an upscale luxury store with the way they have nicely laid out and spaced all the clothes. Nothing feels crushed, cramped, or thrown sporadically together. Clothes here are quite affordable and decent staples if you're looking for wearable coordinates for the office. It's a touch more conservative even in their evening wear. BUT there is their young teen area with a lot of well known brands and there is a small designer area with clothes from Self Portrait, Diane Von Furtstenburg, and a few Canadian high end designers. As mentioned, prices are fair to start but when on season end discount, it is easy to find things at 60%. I found a few of the designer pieces sitting at 40% off and though they were still a few $100 dollars... its much better than the original sticker price of $800. Overall, its a nice addition compared to The Bay which I feel has been slipping further and further in quality and service. Here in Simons, everyone is nicely laid out, easy to find, and nice to peruse. It is not difficult to find a person to help you either. read more

I have been to the Simons in Montreal a few times and never really liked it much. Not my style. Surprisingly, I like this one at Sq1 better. Props to whoever the merchandise buyer is for this location. It is a mix of brands here. I've seen a $10 skirt and $20 dress on one end of the store and on another, I would see Comme des Garcons PLAY and other higher end brands. Also, spotted a bloggers brand here called Cupcakes and Cashmere. The person was a stylist I think for Lauren Conrad. Personally, I recommend checking out the accessories section, it's not huge but they have some unique brands. I had to do a double take when I saw Quay sunglasses! Been looking for this brand for ages and it's mostly available only online. The main floor is women's, swimwear, active wear and home (bedding/kitchen/pillows). The second floor is mens, customer service, and a cafe with a patio overlooking mall entrance. Good for people watching. Lol. I also spotted portapotty style change rooms for guys in the far end of the store. Kinda funny. read more

Note: this is a review for Eve Cafe located inside of Simons only I really adore this somewhat hidden cafe! The atmosphere is really bright and pleasant--lots of natural light through the windows! The staff are very nice and will deliver your food to your table. The food is actually quite delicious too! I got green tea, sweet potato fries, and tomato soup--the soup of the day. The green tea was served in a nice teapot with a tea cup for you to pour it in, although it was simply a tea bag steeping inside. I didn't catch the tea they used, but it's a really nice strong green tea which is right up my alley. It came with a variety of sugars on the side for you to use as well. I was most surprised at the sweet potato fries. I love sweet potato fries and these did not disappoint! They were baked but still retain a level of crunch on the outside. It also came with 2 dips: ketchup and tartar sauce. These are some of my favourite sweet potato fries--and for only $4! The tomato soup was a bit of an adventure for me--I actually don't like tomato soup very much. However, I wanted to try it anyways, in case it was just that I haven't tried the right tomato soup. The soup was VERY rich and had some genuine and impactful tomato flavour. It was a very thick soup, much like a tomato sauce, and had more salt than I am accustomed. As I would have expected, it was not really my thing, so take my opinion of it with a grain of salt. I did appreciate this tomato soup over many that I have tried in the past. Overall, Eve Cafe is a really lovely place to eat, relax, and chat. Great food and drinks and all at a very affordable price! read more

3.5* - Was gonna leave a 3, but this was just based on my faint memory of the downtown Montreal location. Truth be told, I haven't been there is almost a decade, so things could've changed! C'est d'accord pour maintenant. I described Simons to a friend as a less sporty version of Sporting Life, but after opening day's visit, it's NOT. First of all, a good chunk of the store are various house-brands like ICONE, Contemporaire, & others I can't remember. So it's smart for them 'cause they get to increase their profits by selling their own stuff. Second, the other brands weren't as high-end as I remembered from MTL. Their high-end section is a small fraction of the store, I'd say less than 1/4. And there wasn't much on the same calibre as you'd find at Saks/Nordstrom. To give you an idea of the labels, I saw Steve Madden, some Lacoste, Ray Ban (didn't see any nicer sunglasses!), Volcom, Vans, MM6, Jil Sander, Balmain, Alexander McQueen, Rebecca Minkoff, Acne, & they did carry less expensive, more casual brands of the high-end stuff. Bonus: It's HUGE, 2-storeys, the men's section is quite big (not relegated to a small corner in the back of the store), tons of staff, one-stop shop for a family, & there's even a café upstairs! Who would have though there would be a great cafe in a department store? This review is solely for Eve Cafe on the second floor of Simons. This is one of the best secrets in Mississauga. It's an absolute hidden-gem of place offering great stuff all while being so cozy and quiet. It's the kind of place you want to go if you want to work in peace and silence. If you're reading this review and are need in such a place in Mississauga then this secret is between us! The drinks are really good here; we've had the french press (arthur) coffee, as well as the latte and the mocha, and enjoyed all of them. I've been meaning to try the pastries here as they look really good too. I really like the couches here and there's even super comfy pillows on them. It's really comfortable here, there's free wi-fi, what's not to like? read more

The fit of most of their clothes is quite good. They offer a rewards card to earn points towards a gift card to use in store. Honestly, Simons is my favourite clothing store and I'm SO jealous there isn't one in downtown Toronto :'( I've gotten my entire family shopping at Simons now, haha. The selection is top notch and there's something for everyone. Since they carry different labels, you might find a t-shirt on sale for $9.99 in one section of the store, and run into a designer brand tee for $129 in another section of the store. I really like their summer dresses because you can find some really pretty styles for $40. I will say that the sizing isn't always consistent so it's best to head to the fitting rooms just in case. In terms of just t-shirts, my sizes have ranged from x-small to medium. Overall, I just love the variety of the clothing. Whether I'm shopping for summer clothes, business casual attire for work, my grad dress (lol), I can find it at Simons. read more

Simons has finally expanded beyond Quebec and has opened its first Ontario branch inside the new and expanded Square One in Mississauga. Inside the department store, there's a lot of unique and upscale clothing brands that, from what I know, you can't get anywhere else in Ontario. Think comme des garcons, PLAY, etc. There's also an upscale cafe inside the store, though I didn't go inside to eat. It looks quite good though. Employees were very good, and when you pay at the cash the cashier will personally walk around the counter and hand you your purchased bag of clothes beside you. Found that quite unique. Hopefully more Simons branches open up in Ontario. I know there's one opening in Ottawa, but perhaps more in the GTA? read more

I was only here for about 45 minutes but had a chance to take a break at the 2nd floor cafe. French onion soup was microwaved and less than spectacular but my wife's pork banh mi sandwich was good. A much nicer atmosphere than in the chaotic square one food court. The fashion was amazing but I will have to come again alone on a weekday. Too many customers in my way! Way too much customer service staff but I understand since the store is still new. Can't wait to drop some serious $$$$$$ here! read more

Simons is one of my all time favourite clothing store. I loved it when I was living in Montreal and is so happy that it is now available near home. The clothing selection is great, their home stuff is affordable and their sales are crazy! The store is beautiful and spacious. Their service is top notch. I love how they go around the counter to handle you your bags and offer free hemming with purchase. It is also a Canadian company that try to promote a lot of Canadian designer and brand. Happened to park outside of this store on my trip to sq1. I was looking for under garments. This looked like an updated version of The Bay. I was very surprised. Amazing store. Love the options that they had in there. Prices were perfect. It's not a discount store, but the quality of products were great & priced very fairly. I'm about quality (cotton. comfortable.). I'm not too interested in Brands. Cafe was very nice. Excellent experience. Would go back and recommend to anyone. Found some excellent under garments and PJ's as well! :). read more

I really don't like Square One and as a resident of South Missisissauga I'm usually at Sherway. A friend recommended this store and I decide to take a look. The store is very clean, organized and modern. Somewhat similar to the new Nordstrom in Sherway Gardens. Broad range of clothing, prices and designers. Really liked their private labels (Contemporary & Twik) and spotted some higher end labels like Balmain and Emporio Armani. Picked up a couple of pieces. Def better then the Bay (with the exception of the 'The Room') and more interesting then Nordstrom. Really enjoyed their home section; although wish there was a bit more selection (noticed more selection online). Service was really good and all the girls I dealt with were really nice. Signed up for their rewards 1 point for every $1 spent. You a $10 gift card for every 500 points. Will def be back! read more

I was really looking forward to Simons opening in theGTA. After shopping at Simons in Montreal for years I was happy to hear this outstanding brand was moving to my area. Unfortunately the store is not even close to the same caliber as Montreal. As with many new looks the store is splashed with white walls and floors, I sense they used a discount designer, even though the white look can be clean and new it looks stark and sterile. Made me think clinical. There was no texture, no eye catching art installations, just looked amateur compared to the stores in Toronto who use big name designers. The store wasn't merchandised very well. I eventually found some underwear to buy but nothing like the options and selections that would have existed in Montreal. The Sales Person was very friendly, asked me if I wanted to join their loyalty club. When I asked how long it takes to sign up he said "15 minutes". I said "NO" - There is no way I would ever spend 15 minutes joining some retail loyalty program. I was expecting he wanted my email address and the rest would happen from a link on line. Ugh! Retailers still don't get how the market is changing. Not sure I'll return, my opinion of one of my favourite stores is much lower. read more
