First of all, I made an appointment with one associate through the online portal who was supposedly an "expert" with complicated taxes. After sitting in the waiting area a while, they passed me off to a woman I did not select to work with. By the end, she quoted me nearly 3k I would owe. When I told her that sounds crazy, she had her colleague come check her work. He quickly identified she didn't check the first home buyer box, dropping my taxes owed to $1000. When we asked her to keep going back through, she doubled down on her work. She wouldn't let me itemize my deductions, telling me my job didnt qualify for it, and was extremely unhelpful and lazy. Before we left she quoted us 2k back in taxes and $700 for her services (which was just typing in the forms we did because they don't staff CPAs there. We came home and my spouse did my taxes online with TurboTax and a certified CPA. Guess how much I get BACK??? over $4,000. So H&R Block wanted me to pay $3000, but now I'm making over $4000? Insanity. Definitely beware.
