I brought my computer in because I was having trouble with several things. Jackie figured out quickly what the problem was, and fixed it while I stood there. He actually explained to me what he was doing so I could follow along. Truthfully, if the problem happens again I will just bring it back in, but it was helpful to have some knowledge of the problem. I purchased a EVGA GeForce 2060 RTX graphics card about 3 days ago (12/21/20) from Simplified Computers. Completely unopened by me (they actually UNSEAL all of their "new" product), I decided that I should go with the EVGA GeForce 2060 Super RTX. Halfway through the transaction, I was told that their antiquated & obsolete transaction software would not allow the credit to go directly toward the 2060 Super and that I would be forced to pay the full $420 plus tax and that the refund for the regular 2060 would be applied to my debit card which could take several days, maybe even weeks. I left the store completely unsatisfied. NO, I do NOT recommend Simplified Computers if this is how bad their return-to-exchange process is. I was not even asking for a refund! I just wanted to exchange and I would be happy to pay the difference! It's whatever, this is most definitey NOT my definition of "simplified" as suggested by their store name. Computer components are expensive enough and now who knows how long it would take to have $348.80 in limbo waiting to be returned to me while waiting with another ENTIRE $460 debited from my card. these guys are pretty awesome. my laptop mysteriously would not turn on one day. i brought it in to them. they messed around with it for a couple of minutes and it worked. they sent me on my way and didn't charge me a thing. a few months later, i did have a major problem with my desktop and i brought it to them. they charged a fair price and took a reasonable amount of time to get it working properly again. i can't complain. i like taking my computer to computer "people" about as much as i like taking my car to a mechanic. i know nothing about either, and really, i'm at the mercy of whoever is fixing my problem to be honest and do good work. i don't feel taken advantage of here, and they are friendly... so five stars it is. read more

I went to Simplified Computer's because my laptop wouldn't power on, I have a 6 year old daughter who dropped it, I was worried it would be done for so I went with the expectations to just get my info off my hard drive and get a new computer, I got a call from the tech and some things had been knocked loose, he put them back in place, cleaned up some viruses on my computer, installed an antivirus program and did some other updates, so now not only am I typing on my computer right now and its on, but it's faster, cleaner, and better than when it was working in my care and it only cost me $75.00. Andrew took my dead computer and brought it back to life. It was a very simple fix, but he checked every little detail that could have been wrong with it to make sure that his diagnosis was correct. I just walked in and asked for help, and they provided it kindly, immediately and with no problems. They had plenty of parts for the computer (Inspiron laptop), but I wasn't going to be sold something that I didn't need. I was very pleased that I went there. read more

Took in my completely dead laptop--last stop before it went to the great electronics graveyard in the sky. The service technicians were knowledgeable and honest. They fixed it in two days (the hard drive had failed), installed a new hard drive, reinstalled the operating system and all my software, and even recovered all my files. I bought two computers from them for about $500 each. One of them never worked. It would simply post a notice that I was not an authorized user. It would not download. After I worked with it for a few days I called them to ask them what to do to make it work or what they could do to help me they responded with "did you by it here" "how long did you have it' as though they thought I was trying to pull something and they did not have any record of the sales (about $ !,000.00). Rip-offs.Used car salesmen who have branched out into the used computer business.That says it all,but I include this event. Sold me 2 memory cards used worth 15 bucks,telling me they were new cards charging me $80.New ones on Amazon and E-bay,etc. were only $25,I found out later. Dishonest. As to the response: A computer store,that repairs,with a lot of odd computers and printers laying around.The salesman grabs some used memory,takes money.Receipt.?. The paper he printed didnt have any way to connect what he gave me to the store or the sale,no transaction number only a date(Got two bare cards in two reused spare static protec bags.Oops,I later thought.No store labels,packaging etc). Just something like "two memory cards,$80",then a squiggle as a signature,something like"X".It looked like something anyone could print out on any printer,and sign "X" with a nondescript ink mark/pen stroke. read more

Let me start by saying I am a very mild temper, patient person. And, while I'd like to give this place the benefit of doubt, my experience here was HOrrible. I had a fan that crapped out on my in my VAIO computer. I ordered a new fan from SONY. I heard that VAIOs are notorious for being difficult to repairs so I called a bunch of places asking "Do you have experience with VAIO computers?" This is the series of events that took place: - Them: "Yes we work with them all the time. To replace the fan will only be an hour of labor" Me: "So you have experience with VAIOs??" "Yes, we work with them all the time." - 2 days later... Them: "It will actually take us two hours worth of labor to install the new fan because your computer is more complicated then we thought" - 2 days after that... "Did your sound work when you dropped it off?" Me: "Yes" Them: "Ok we are going to need a couple of days to trouble shoot and figure out why the sound isnt working anymore - 2 days after that... "We broke a clamp that connects your sound card to your motherboard and have to order a new part. This will take 4-5 days to come in." - 5 days after that... I FINALLY get a call to come pick up my computer... I bring it home and find out the keyboard has not be installed back to its proper position. I call and express my frustrations and they say "Ok, bring it in and we will fix it on the spot" I bring it in... sit in the lobby for 30 min while they try and fix it... it looks good so I go home. - I turn my computer on and find out that half the keys aren't working. They haven't charged me for anything except for the fan installation but the whole process will have taken over THREE Weeks now. As apposed to the 2-3 days for the fan installation. Furthermore they haven't offered any discounts or compensation or even shown remorse. In fact, I expressed my frustrations again, in person, and they guy at the counter was like "Yeah there is no discount we can give you. I can have the repair guy come and talk to you." Gee thanks. Forced remorse always makes me feel great. All in all, if they were just honest in the begining that they did have experience with these types of computers and maybe they actually seemed like they felt bad about how MUCH of a pain in the ass they have been, I would have been able to give them the benefit of doubt. But there is no doubt now. They totally suck. read more

NEVER GO HERE! Horrible costumer service and charged me but then could not even service my issue! AWFUL AWFUL business. They never once called me to inform me about the status of my order, rather I had to call them to find out they had finished. When I called I explained the situation asking about the status of my order when the man on the phone told me "I can't read minds ..." Very impolite way to deal with customer. Then, they put the tech on the phone who was very rude, considering I had just lost 2 years worth of data off my drive. He told me I could go else where and spend hundreds of dollars to do what he could not. I believe the 75$ they had already charged me for absolutely no work was enough wasted money. All in all an awful business with horrible customer service. Do no bring your computer or anything here to be serviced unless you want to waste money with no results. read more

The guys that work here are super nice. I came in because I had trouble compiling some stuff on my computer and I didn't know where to go. I updated my computer to the latest OS, which messed some programs I use for work. I had spent about a week (at least a solid 3 days of fiddling with my computer) on my own trying to figure the mess out. I have a macbook pro, and apple doesn't provide support for developer tools, nor does the tech support at UIUC. I highly recommend this place. I don't think they're an approved Apple store, but if my warranty/apple care is out of date I would have the work done here hands down; I've had less than desirable experiences other places. Super knowledgeable and friendly. Going here has been the highlight of my week. read more

I brought my laptop in with little to no knowledge of what was wrong with it. After describing the problem I was having, the individual took down all the info and explained that their techs would look for the problem at a charge of $75. There were several probabilities ranging from a minor replacement to a major problem costing hundreds of dollars that could cause me to decide to have to buy a new computer. Being 74 years old--and having little tech knowledge--and being warned to be careful not to have someone take advantage of me--I decided to see what they would find. I was initially told it would take several days before the tech could look at it and would give me a call, letting me know the situation before proceeding. Within a couple hours of the same day, the tech called me and told me that it was a minor defect that would cost me $65 to replace and would be ready by 5 p.m. They could have told me anything, charged me anything, tried to sell me anything and taken advantage of my ignorance; but they didn't. My computer is running beautifully, and I would recommend this company to everyone needing assistance. They are honest, capable and trustworthy. read more

HORRIBLE service, said one to two days kept computer 8 days! WOULDN'T answer my calls to find out what was wrong!!!! They finally called said it was MOTHERBOARD AFTER 4 DAYS OF WAITING, called back next day said computer was HARD-DRIVE AND NOT-FIXABLE!! computer was working when I took in wanted wind. 10 off.. then during the time they had my computer I found charges on my credit cards!!!
