It's a nice shop. They have a lot of space, and a lot of lovely home decor items. I didn't really spend much time in here though, as I felt a bit out of place. I wasn't acknowledged by either of the employees when I was there, though they welcomed pretty much everyone else that came in whilst I was there. Oh, well, their attitude may have saved me some money. I did happen to be in there on "splurge day", so I took one of the chocolate covered strawberries they had for customers. As a frequent visitor to the Galena area and down town Galena for over 15 years, I must say after my visit last week, Simply Elegant Boutique made the list of shops to review with a much needed update. BE visually AWAKENED to the wonderful store; of an amazing fashion selection paired with a high end decor both integrated into a chic boutique! Walk in and be welcomed by the NEW friendly, pleasing, and helpful STAFF!!! A friend and I had been greeted pleasantly and assisted by Nancy and Robin. We loved the boutique so much that we visited the down town shop twice and made it a point to stop at the main store right off 20, across from the gas station and up the hill from Ulysses S. Grant home. We even got to meet the wonderful owner herself; Robin! I enjoy the perfume and candle selection too. read more

I'm actually pretty surprised at the poor reviews for this super cute boutique in downtown Galena. While the service wasn't overtly friendly, I found the selection, the sales, and the vibe pretty great. There aren't too many boutiques in this immediate area that cater to the 21-40 subset - most of the clothing locales are aimed at the 40-65 demo. And I get it, you cater your offerings to the folks you see the most. Therefore, I was pleased with the cool brands I spied at Simply Elegant: Free People, Yosi Samra, Bed Stu, Black Orchid, Bella Dahl, Joe's Jeans, Velvet and more. Items were organized and displayed nicely and I was most impressed with their Labor Day weekend sale - an extra 50% off sale, which came in quite handy to pick up a few pairs of Yosi Samra flats on the cheap. I (and my to-be-outfitted feet) am glad I stopped in and shopped a bit. On the customer service side, Simply Elegant could certainly step up their game a bit but overall it's a cute boutique to peruse if you find yourself in downtown Galena! read more

OK, so my review is based on the fact that I got a FAB dress for a FAB price that I continue to receive compliments on! All that being said, I had the distinct impression that were I not to go into the store with my friend who was carrying a "TANO" bag, that I would not have received the service I did. This fact was demonstrated over and over again even after their initial "pounce-gush" over my friend with her bag, they mainly "helped" her help me decide on the dress even though she is pregnant and the store does not carry any maternity clothing...The store was cute, employees were around - mainly posing, but this is a resort sort of town - not a major metropolitan area, so my expectations aren't that high to begin with. It is what is is and they do have some great items - that could be gotten anywhere. read more

Very disappointed at the customer service. Bought a shirt here, but didn't notice the large "burn" Mark on the back. The sales person kept saying or was normal, but it didn't look normal to me, my mom or friend. Very unhelpful and not a good place to shop. read more

I have shopped at the boutique several time a year since close to when it opened. It is one of my must stop at stores when in Galena! I have found many great items for myself, my friends and guests who I entertain in our weekend home in the Galena Territories. My Daughter, a college fashion major at Columbia College in Chicago also adores this store. I have found everything from evening wear to casual items at great prices. Each item I've purchased there gets lots of complements where ever I go. The Staff has always be very friendly and helpful with out being overbearing! There is always an offer to check for another size or style that might be of interest. I would say that the store carries clothes that are classically styled with just enough of a twist to be very current, flattering on figure and at a great price. What's not to love in that? If you just happen to not see something you can't live without.... do come back and you will be rewarded! read more

Nothing but great things to say about my first shopping experience here. First of all, Emily, the store manager, was incredibly helpful and sweet. I felt like I had my own personal shopper! She asked me about my preferences and was able to find me many gorgeous items. I have a hard time finding the kind of clothes to fit taste, and was happy to find such cute styles, which reminds me of Boston Proper. They have tops and sweaters, denim, dresses, purses, accessories... everything. They offer great discounts, and a rewards program, and the prices aren't outrageous either. I live about an hour and a half away from Galena, and usually only get there about once a year. But now, having found Simply Elegant, I plan on going up there much more often, just to shop there! It's unique because they have things you don't find everywhere, but wish you could. They also have a nice website. read more

I have been into this "so called boutique" several times, and I have to say they have some of the rudest staff around. Not to mention their prices are overinflated. There are many other great stores in downtown Galena to visit. Give this one a pass! read more
