We were met at the door to be told that there wasn't room for wheelchairs inside. There was room to get through the door but the woman stood in front of the door to rudely unwelcome us. Very rude service. My husband bought a shirt but because of the no pictures policy couldn't show it to me until he purchased and met up with me halfway down the block. By the time he showed me he regretted the purchase. Went back WITH the receipt, no returns, only exchanges for stuff he didn't want/need. They also made a big deal about not wanting a bag (we already had a bag from another store, and our own reusable bag), "you were the one that didn't want a bag", and then rudely said "assume you don't want a bag again". Won't be back here. And clearly they don't understand life is good. read more

Every year my wife and I come to Galena for the Night of Luminaria and live windows. Each year we also buy a new puzzle from this store. Well it just so happens this year we had our infant daughter with us for the first time. Seeing as how this is the biggest Christmas weekend of the year and it's a family event, you would think stores would be receptive to that. Well the lady at the door very rudely informed us that no strollers were allowed inside, and I'm certainly not taking my baby out of her warm stroller when it's 30 degrees outside and she's bundled up perfectly. Needless to say, the tradition of buying puzzles once a year from this store is over. Judging from comments, I'm not the only one with issues dealing with the employees at this store. We won't be back and we'll definitely be letting all our friends know not to step foot in this store. We went into about 3 dozen other stores with our stroller and never had an issue. This was the only store that doesn't like children apparently. read more

Mature CRABBY woman at cash register barked at any customer who attempted to be helpful by refolding merchandise they had looked at. I'm wondering if the vendor supplying "Life is Good" would be upset that this seems to be your default behavior (having just read years of negative reviews). DON'T shop at Head to Toe Sportswear in Galena, IL - very rude staff!!! Went to this store on 6/1/2021, and my group of 4 ladies will NEVER return to this business, as the older female clerk in the store was rude to multiple guests over the 15 minute period we were in the store. In addition, they do NOT acccept returns. Unfortunately, this information was not shared with me when I made a purchase, and I now I'm stuck with a $22 t-shirt that does not fit. Another older female clerk (different one) was equally rude the next day when I tried to return the shirt with tags intact. I've visited Galena at least 6 times, and this store is OFF the list to vist. This is very unfortunate, as ALL of the other stores in Galena have marvelous, friendly staff. extremely rude- ignorent-crabby old lady. p.s if your miserable unhappy crabby and don't want to be there then you should quit leave or close your store down hire somebody else go away do something don't take out your issues on innocent customers i walked in with my daughter we had $40 worth of stuff in our hands already and when i went to say excuse me and ask you a question you shouted over me ignoring my question saying did you use the hand sanitizer and both me and my daughter who are mature adults i over 50 said yes then you turned around and walked away without answering my question you don't get any more rude inconsiderate condescending and nastier than that so me and my daughter politely put the products down and walked out of your store i will never step in your store and i will never spend a dime in your store and looking at the reviews this seems to be a common occurrence here maybe you should change that and close your store down cuz apparently you don't want customers so i politely took my business next door and i spent $95 there to the very nice lady and her husband and i happily will be a ongoing repeat customer ps take some notes from them and learn customer service. read more

We also had a terrible experience at this store. We were excited to visit the stores in the main shopping area and this was our first stop. The lady behind the counter was very rude and yelled at our kids, who were acting fine, just being kids, nothing major. We had items we wanted to purchase but decided that she and the store overall didn't want our business, just wanted us to leave the store. Experiences like this make me want to do more shopping online. We DO NOT recommend this store at all. It's cramped and the people who run it are extremely rude. read more

I had a terrible experience shopping in this store. I was in this shop on a Friday and purchased a few items and thought about buying a blanket but was undecided and since we were in Galena for the weekend I thought we might stop by again later on our trip. It was uneventful, the sales associate was helpful and after paying we left. I came back in on Sunday and when I walked in the door the owner said something to the man behind the counter (maybe her husband) complaining about people coming in the door. His reply was 'well the open sign is up.' I didn't think much of that comment at the time, I thought maybe it was in regards to the weather being really cold. We went back to area with the blankets and took a few off the shelf to compare them. There were several different colors and patterns. In the midst of talking about it, the owner came back and asked what we were doing, I said comparing some blankets and she walked away. Then a few minutes later she came back and took the blankets we were looking at away from us and put them back on the shelf with no explanation. I concluded that this woman didn't want us there so we decided to leave...I really didn't want to buy something from someone as rude as she was anyway. As we left we walked by the cash register. My boyfriend said thank you and she neither looked up nor acknowledged him. After we left it bothered me that she treated us so poorly so I called to find out why. She said so many people come into the store to comparison shop and then end up buying something online. She never apologized and actually hung up on me. Well I can see why people choose to buy online. My only regret was spending money in this store on Friday, I would return the items I purchased but it would mean I would have to return to this place and interact with this horrible woman. I had a very good experience at From Head to Toe. I had to do a return and they were very accommodating. I had purchased a pair of shoes from the sale area and made the mistake of not noticing that there was a sign posted with "no returns" on the shelf where I had found the shoes. I returned the next morning and the salesperson told me that they didn't do returns on the sale items. However, she was kind enough to hear my story and asked if I had worn the shoes on the street. I told her that I only made it as far as the elevator of the hotel and found that the right shoe was slipping off of my foot. I wear orthotics and made the rookie mistake of not walking around with both shoes on and the orthotics in. Lisa was kind enough to let me know that we could work something out. I totally understood that I wouldn't get to do a straight return so I was pleased that she was more than willing to work with me on an exchange. I didn't have any luck finding a smaller size in the shoes that I had purchased but she really worked with me to find a pair that I liked and that fit well. She was the one to even suggest that I walk around the store for a period of time to make sure that the fit was right. The day before, I was shopping with my husband and didn't have a lot of time to really look at the store. Because I returned without him, I had some time to look around more thoroughly. In Galena, a lot of the shops can be pricey and I felt that their prices were decent and I really liked their clothes. read more

I've never left a yelp review before but the older woman who works in this store was so horrible I want to warn others. I'm guessing the only reason this store is still in business is because downtown Galena revolves around tourism, people aren't checking reviews before they go into the store. If their business relied on word of mouth the older woman's nasty mouth and foul attitude would have put them out of business by now. My husband went in today with our two children and she immediately yelled at my son for touching an oar. Mind you there was no indication you couldn't touch it, she just didn't like that a child was touching it. So instead of asking him to put it down. She yelled at him aggressively then told my husband she was "sick of people letting their children run wild." I'll be the first to admit if my kids are out of line but this was not one of those circumstances. Wish I had read the other reviews before we even entered the store so save us from her negative energy. read more
