I will say upfront this is a really pretty cake, custom covered in a reproduction of a painting I did and my artist signature. That's the reason I gave 2 stars and not just 1. My good friend ordered me a custom birthday cake from this bakery. When he went to pick it up, it was not decorated to what he asked for (it was supposed to have additional icing detail on the sides and adornments on top). I cut into it and it looks good but the cake layers are uneven/thin, icing layers are thick in ratio to the cake and the sugar paper wasn't adhered well (wavy). The icing is overly sweet and the white cake was supposed to be wedding white but it's a buttermilk white. It's tangy, tastes off and the blue icing had so much color it has that dye aftertaste. The cake is pretty but it's not good. I don't know what my friend paid for it but I am guessing it was pricey because it was custom. I love supporting local but not if it's a poor product. I would think twice before buying a custom cake here. read more

The best thing about the very simple cake I ordered was the taste. It tasted very good. The decor part was...elementary. Like a child did it. Very disappointed. We had to spruce it up a lot on our own. The person there when I picked it up was brash. I had to sign a piece of paper saying I agreed that it looked fine?! She flash showed me the cake that was already boxed. She definitely wasn't proud of the work and when I got it to the car to look more closely at it, I understood why. I was pretty upset. I love cupcake shops. They are intriguing and yummy. That saying, I gave Sweet Tooth 5 stars. If it were on the decor alone, it'd be 4. It's a plain little shop on south 7 highway, in the Palo Shopping Center in Blue Springs. It's run by the now infamous Trevor and Amy, who I discovered on Facebook a few months ago.. I found out about Sweet Tooth long before the Cupcake Wars the other night. I'm only around Blue Springs infrequently, and that happened to be today. Plain in decor, huge in cupcakes. (and cookies and cake pops and mini cheese cakes). I appreciate cupcakes that aren't simply a white or chocolate cake with flavored frosting. (ahem...a certain shop in KC???). And Sweet Tooth Cupcakes more than succeeded my expectations. All the cupcakes from the Cupcake Wars show were available, plus so many others I had a hard time ordering. My goodness there are alot of flavors. I ordered carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, s'mores (chocolate cupcake with graham cracker and marshmallow butter cream with a piece of a chocolate bar added). Chocolate cherry which I might not have the correct name, it is filled with cherries and has white buttercream on top, It might be one from the television show. And I also experimented with the Jasmine cupcake. They have different flavors all the time. I ate part of the evidence in the shop, ordering a pecan shortbread cupcake for myself.. Trevor walked out from the kitchen, and said, "How's your cupcake?" With my mouth full of pecan cupcake (on the top, it had a tiny shortbread cookie and a pecan, on pecan buttercream frosting). I couldn't say, "The frosting is crusted perfectly with about an inch and a half high, so the creamy inside is tasty and kind of like it's whipped like with the Kitchen aide attachment whisk. The flavor really tastes like pecan frosting. There's not too much to steal away the taste of the pecan cake. The shortbread cookie is just the right size to fit on the dollop of frosting. I like how there's about a centimeter of cake showing all around equally under the frosting. And the pecan on top is adorable." So, I saved it for this review. I just wrote nearly a whole paragraph describing frosting which is a near passion of mine. Get the frosting perfect, with cakes that aren't boring, and get 5 stars from me. read more

Where do I start? Simply Frosted is simply the best. I love this little gem in our hometown. The Cookie Dough Cupcake is by far the best cookie dough themed food I have ever had. You'll swear that the icing is actually cookie dough. The Lemon is amazing as well. The Oreo White Chocolate cookies are coveted by my staff and I will buy all they have if they have them that day. My husband and I found this cupcake shop online. We wanted to try a new place since the one by our house is not great. We came into the shop and was greeted by one of the owners. She was very nice and personable. We ordered 2 cookies (Oreo white chocolate), 2 cookie dough cupcakes, 1 birthday cake, and 1 lemon. All of the cupcakes tasted great! My favorite was cookie dough even though the base was chocolate (not usually a fan of chocolate flavor). The price was also affordable and not overpriced. We got everything for around $14. Today there are 16 available varieties. Running the gamut, from fruit to veggie...don't panic! Carrot is still considered a vegetable. Chocolate and vanilla. Interesting flavor combinations like, Jamaican Sensation (mango cake with pomegranate butter cream), Stolen Cow (with cookie dough), and Cherry Meltdown (chocolate with cherry filling and frosting). The cake is moist and dense, but the flavors are slightly muted. I could tell that the cake was orange, but had to assume it was Mango as promised. The cupcakes are chilled, which only intensifies the flavor muting issues. The size of the cupcakes are on the smallish side (the price is also commensurate with size) and the emphasis is in the frosting. The ratio of frosting to cake is heavy on frosting. Those among you with a frosting fetish, check your mouth...you're drooling! The cake freaks will be left wanting...and I'm a wantin' woman! I want to start by saying the Boston cream cupcake was really good in flavor, BUT the price per cupcake was OUTRAGEOUS (I paid close to $20 for 6 cupcakes) but I promised my son a cupcake so that's what he was going to get. I was wanting Hawaiian themed cupcakes with seashells, which is what we had on our wedding day in Hawaii. E-mail response was quick and they were very professional. There was a small crust, yes, but it did not really add anything to the cheesecake. I got 4 different cupcakes. Two were very good, and the other two were not so great. I got a double chocolate cupcake, and the frosting was very hard, the cupcake was dry. I remember one of the cupcakes being very good. My idea of this place is a lot of inconsistency. I contacted the Sweet Tooth about doing cookies for my friend's bachelorette party. I sent them pictures of my ideas and the owner wrote back that they could do them and they would be $3 per cookie. I thought it was pricey...but was willing to pay for quality. The cookies I sent her had a 50 shades of grey theme and there were 12 different designs included in the image. I had originally also sent more pictures that were "panty" themed cookies with a ton of different designs. Because of the price, I requested that they just do 15 cookies in the 50 shades theme. I went to pick up the cookies and was horrified with the product. She chose the 4 easiest designs from the image I sent and she made 3 of each of them. So there were 4 different cookies in the 50 shades theme....it barely made a theme and just looked stupid when I presented it at the party...nobody got it. Then, despite my asking for all one theme, she went ahead and make some panty themed cookies as well...and these were cute, but she did 2 designs and again made 3 each of them...so it was pretty random. She should have made each cookie different for $3 a piece. The worst part of it all was that THEY MISSPELLED A WORD. I noticed it immediately when I looked at the cookies but when I said something the young girl working looked at me like I had 3 heads and didn't offer to do anything about it. As I was driving home I also realized they made an additional 3 cookies and charged me for those cookies as well. I contacted the owner immediately via e-mail and told her how disappointed I was with my order. 4 days later I hadn't heard any response so I called to follow up. She said that she had spoken with her employees to "get their side of the story" and she was willing to refund me for the cookies I didn't order and the misspelled cookies. While I appreciate the partial refund, she acted very irritated and was not apologetic when i went into the store to pick up the refund...and then she tried to give me less money than originally promised and acted irritated again when I corrected her. For $3 a cookie (over $50 for 15 cookies)...I expected high quality bakery cookies. I have used various other bakeries in Kansas City and there work was exceptional. I was hoping to have found something close to home but I will never return here based on the price and poor quality and customer service. read more

Terrible experience! I paid 50 bucks for this cake and needed it for my daughters birthday party the following day. The chocolate was supposed to be airbrushed white butter cream and they sold it to me in an uncovered rectangle cupcake box. When I expressed my frustration and asked for my money back, the owner LAUGHED at me and hung up. Needless to say I won't be getting my money back. The woman on the phone, I believe her name was Tiffany, said it was no problem and walked me through the process. She then told me to email her the order and that she would respond that evening. I emailed them the order and even followed up but never heard back. It left me scrambling to find another option because I believe Tiffany would do what she said she would do. When I try to call all of my calls now go to voicemail. I understand if something came up but the fact that Tiffany couldn't even tell me what was going on or take my calls is completely unprofessional. New owners definitely have some work to do with choice of ingredients and following through with the exact consultation order of cakes. I ordered a birthday cake for my daughter, talked with the baker and came to an agreement on what she could/would do. Went to go pick the cake up and it was totally something different than what was talked about and was written down by the baker. Also I was a little bit unnerved by the fact that when I went in to order a cake, a lady in front of me had ordered a birthday cake for her child and was given a CHOICE of WHEN she wanted to pay for her cake ( if she wanted to pay right then or at pick up) however when I ordered, I had to pay upfront and was not given the same option of paying at pick up..... I took the Jamaican Sensation, Life by Chocolate and Snickerdoodle cupcakes to a family dinner. The Jamaican Sensations disappeared almost instantly - and being as their vegan that says a lot!!! The Life by Chocolate and Snickerdoodles were quite amazing also. All were light which made it to easy to keep eating them! And even though the flavors were true and rich, the cakes didn't dry you out. My order was also a bit last minute; but they still treated me like a friend and accommodated my request!
