Jarlsberg Quiche
Marie M.

We had breakfast here last week and enjoyed the space, coffee and again the breakfast. We usually have an omelet but we both decided to have the Ham and Jarlsburg Quiche, which I highly recommend. It was moist, but not like the eggs were runny. It was perfect, and the cheese added the best flavor. We chose the fruit on the side, which is the red grapes sprinkled with brown sugar, an interesting touch.

Excellent, fresh food! Great service. It was a Saturday and they were pretty busy- worth the wait. Highly recommend

Great decor, great staff, delicious food!! My kids loved the waffles and bacon. I had the monte cristo and a delicious salad.

Turkey apple Panini, cauliflower "pasta" salad, side salad with ranch. Pistachio latte with almond milk.

This small-town feel cafe in downtown Blue Springs has so much to offer. With an extensive menu and welcoming environment, I have a great experience every time I come in. This was my fourth or fifth time in. The service is always stellar and the food always tastes really fresh. This go round I had the turkey apple Panini with a side salad and a pistachio latte with almond milk. They also give you a small side of their cauliflower salad (think pasta salad), but you can't even tell it's cauliflower it tastes so good. I got an almond croissant to go, which was equally delicious. They are very wonderful at creating substitutes that work for your diet whether it's gluten-free, dairy free, etc. The food is delicious and I highly recommend.

Let me start off with, I really wanted to give Bean Counter Cafe 5/5 stars, but, in my heart of hearts, I knew that wasn't a fair assessment of my first encounter with The Bean. In the middle of old downtown Blue Springs located on a corner of Main Street next to a Pizza Shop, Bean Counter Cafe is a beacon shining in a semi-desolate small downtown. It is obviously local, a small mom and pop business, with not much street appeal. However, once you're inside the surprisingly spacious coffee shop and cafe, you'll find yourself wanting to stay awhile. It's not incredibly "homey," but it's bright and airy and has some random elements of decor. You can tell decoration isn't where the owners put all their thought into, that's the food and drinks, and they are simple but delicious. Think sandwiches of all kinds, breakfasts, and salads, as well as a variety of coffee beverages. I feel like this is one of the cafes where everything on the menu is tasty. I had to go with my third choice, a warm turkey sandwich with granny smith apples, fresh basil pesto, and melted sharp cheese. But, I wasn't in the slightest upset with my "lunchbox" style sandwich. All in all, the experience at Bean Counter Cafe was a fun off the beaten path adventure, but there were little hiccups along the way. They were out of a few menu items, and our order originally did get switched around, we received one of the sandwiches we ordered twice instead of getting the two separate ones we ordered. I'm pretty sure our order got mixed up with the table next to us, but it was easily fixed. If I ever find myself close to this charming cafe, I will stop in again because, overall, it was a very enjoyable experience, and I LOVE to support local.

Remember the old Bean Counter cafe inside of Colonial Gardens? They have FINALLY reopened at a new location on Main St in Downtown Blue Springs! Woot woot! As expected, the food is fresh and homemade. Both breakfast and lunch are served along with an arrange of coffee of speciality drinks. They don't yet have a drink menu printed - but that's coming soon. I opted for a bear claw and house latte (similar to a cinnamon dolce). The latte was delicious and the bear claw - oh my! Butter, flaky and filled with a cinnamon streusel mixture, it was to do for! The hardest part was making up my mind what to have! Cannot wait to go back and try all the other delicacies!

Blueberry Lemon French Toast

I am so glad this place relocated and are open! They have great food and coffee. My favorite thing to get there is the blueberry lemon French toast! I really enjoy their seasonal latte's and their hash browns! If you do not come early on the weekends there may be a little bit of a wait but they are very efficient and the coffee comes very quickly to help the time pass by. It feel homey and I really appreciate the large coffee bar and local pictures on the wall. So happy to have a local breakfast joint in the area!! 10/10 from me:)

Great monte cristco I will give it 20 stars for great sandwich

Therefore, Caribou is my go to dealer! There it's a story I will someday share, in another review of a far away place, about the High Priestess of the Black Coffee Arts, who is trying to convert me into one of those purist. It is an excellent story, and you'll just have to follow me to that place to hear it! Back to Caribou! Unlike many other chains, the coffee they sell to take home is also pretty delicious. It's weird, you go to a coffee kiosk, buy their over the counter coffee, buy their coffee brand bag, take it home, and it's not as good as what was over the counter. It taste cheaper than what you paid for. But When brew what I bought from Caribou, it feels like I'm having gourmet coffee! This, is why I love this chain!

After several visits over the years, I've only had their coffee and pastries, not their cafe food. The interior is cute and there's often a queue upon entering to order at the counter, but don't let that intimidate you because it moves fast. I recommend getting some of their water on tap (both still and sparkling water are available) if you have to wait! If you're queer like me, you'll likely be drinking a cold black coffee and they have options! They have a regular cold brew in 3 sizes, a cold brew of the moment / seasonal (ask about it!) and a cold brew shandy for something different. My partner and I got two different cold brews on tap today, the original and the Seasonal Single Origin Honduran one. The single origin Honduran was better, but their original was good too. There's a lot of seating, but it's usually taken up, so I tend to just take my coffee to go. Expect to walk out for around $6ish a cup. It's near terrible food definitely doesn't stop people from coming in, again, you are in one of the nicest areas of downtown OP and have limited coffee competition, so I guess food quality isn't your number one concern.

My out of town guests love them too when I bring them here. I'm here to rave about their weekend only croissants. You can only get them on Saturday or Sunday because it takes a days to ferment and laminate the dough. The quality of their ingredients shines in even the simplest plain croissant. I'll occasionally venture into the chocolate or almond version. They rival some of the best I've had in NYC, SF or Paris. In KC, the only other rivals can be found at French Market or Sour Rabbit Bakery. I'm glad their croissants are weekend only so I can have them as an occasional treat. I find their other pastries, especially the tarts, biscuits or scones are also lovely. For a baked goods focused spot, I'd say their cold brew is also pretty great quality as well. Usually I'd go to another coffee shop for a fix, but I'm okay grabbing both a croissant and cold brew here. They offer daily specials, weekly trivia contests, and a live music. Entertainers generally play live music several nights a week. Sinclairs host mostly acoustic performers, mainly on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Most of the entertainers feature guitar playing solo artists in the bar area. As for the food... it's all pretty tasty. Served in an upscale fashion. And worth mentioning is THE ABSOLUTE BEST MEATLOAF I have ever eaten outside of my own kitchen; and yes, possibly even better than my own... which speaks volumes because I'm generally an excellent cook and extremely particular diner. (Not bragging - just emphasizing that my standards are high). This meatloaf is hearty, rich, and moist, with a firm meaty texture (Not over done with fillers). It's cut generously and served over freshly mashed potatoes topped with a complex & flavorful sauce I'd liken to a rich brown gravy with a hint of herbs & possibly a tad bit of steak sauce for good measure... Its the star. I just wished they served this on their daily menu! Speaking of... their entire menu is thoughtfully made, and the chef deserves major kudos for their talents in the kitchen. I will go with friends in tow to enjoy a night off in the kitchen, to enjoy some of the best meals our city has to offer. Looking for something do? Sports Watch Parties are a good time: Sinclair's serve as the neighborhood hub when it comes to watching our very own Kansas City Chiefs play.
