The journey to get there, however, was nothing short of a nightmare. I would NOT recommend taking on a project like this with BetterLivings/Clarke Contractors. Choose another company and do your homework. They do not communicate and perform to the standard you would expect when paying such a large amount for a project like this one. To start, we were told the room was expected to take a week, potentially two to complete. We were at this process for over 2 months (and still waiting on screens to be repaired). So, if you are expecting a speedy installation, don't hold your breath. We understand that materials are tough to get right now, but the time it took to complete this project was ridiculous. The delay in the build was met with very little communication from the company unless we reached out to get it. There would be days BetterLivings employees were expected and never showed. I think we saw the PM once, maybe twice? Coordination with outside contractors such as the electrician was never completed as stated. The Project Manager never knew what was going on with the build. The workers on the actual room were very kind and knowledgeable when they were there, however, they never had the right information or tools to complete their job (not their fault; they should have been provided these things by the company). They also did not clean and left materials laying around for months. We have small kids and animals and our yard is still filled with nails, metal shavings, etc. The subcontractors used to extend our deck were nice, but the work was not. My husband spent time reinforcing the deck with additional supports because we were worried about its integrity. I have NO idea how the first pass was okayed by the inspectors. It seemed as though Clarke Construction was more worried about just getting it done than it being safe/right. Huge red flag. Overall, you will be your own Project Manager. You will have to set times, ask questions diligently, and expect nothing but excuses as to why something was not done, why someone did not show, or why things are taking so long. You will also receive very short, one sentence answers that do not fully answer questions and still leave you wondering. I have never been met with such unprofessionalism. Do not just leave your customer hanging and wondering about the project. We have also learned from our PM that the company does not even do a final walk through. of the build. How do you know this job is complete? The structure is safe? Completely unbelievable. When you have a customer that is involved and paying a large amount of money for your product, they deserve much better treatment than what we received with this company. I am so thankful that we noticed things. I am so glad our time with this company is almost over. There is no way I would spend the kind of money we did on this room and expect this to be our experience. Quite frankly, it is sad. Had we been an older couple that was not able to complete everything this company failed to do, we'd be sitting in a very unsafe and poorly built structure, or have to spend thousands more to have it fixed. This room was not worth the money or amount of stress this project caused. We have had so many friends and neighbors ask about the room and we have directed them to shop at other companies.

There was supposed to be removal of the material and replaced with compactable fill that I had arranged for. After taking one load of dirt away and returning with one load of fill. I was informed that he could not complete the job because he kept getting stuck where he was dumping the dirt and his day was over. Having three more loads of dirt and more fill paid for this left me in quite a spot. Contacting another company to complete what goldshit couldn't caused cost overruns and huge issues with other contractors not being able to use the drive. Since I refused to pay for a job not only not completed but done poorly joshy feels entitled to ride his bougie electric bike by my house and verbally accost my girlfriend in public, who by the way is completely innocent and was not involved at the time of the DRIVEWAY debacle, but also really doesn't know what happened. I have held off writing a review for 8 years hoping he would be less abusive towards my children and friends but he continues to walk into the street and confront me while I drive down my own street with his form of intimidation to try to get me to pay for a job he didn't complete much less pay for the cost incurred by his incompetence as a truck driver and business owner. Beware this pond scum, don't pay until the job is done and never let him know your address. I would suggest he turn his head away as I have for the past 8 years and keep his tongue and public antics to himself. I rue the day or paths crossed.

This was supported by a live walkthrough for me to view what the repair person was talking about. The same afternoon (!) options were presented for replacement and a choice was made. An appointment was made and several days later the old furnace was taken out and a new furnace was installed in less than 4 hours. Everyone involved was extremely helpful and courteous. Bottom line: price quoted and installation met with no surprises. Clean space left with all old items and leftover stuff removed. Several weeks later, I remain completely satisfied with the job and would happily recommend this company based on my experience. I will continue to use them in the future.
