HORRIBLE Absolutely the worst experience with this Opthomology practice in Northern Virginia. Made an appt., with Sina J. Sebet, MD, but got pushed over to Nancy Surig, MD, who proceeded to write my prescription for my contacts incorrectly and then didn't bother to write my prescription for my glasses at all. I'm beyond livid. Their excuse...Dr. Nancy isn't with them anymore....REALLY NOW! Don't trust these folks one bit. I 1000% do not recommend. read more

i first submitted an online appointment request and they called to schedule an appointment while i was at work. was surprised to get one a week out, but had to cancel & r/s, surprisingly for the following week. i then realized i needed to not be working in the event they use the drops for examination (which i read is a possibility within their "new patient" information online) deeper into the eye. you can't drive for like 45-90 minutes, so i scheduled for during my vacation. they called for additional information while i was at work. i had 15 five and six year olds in my office, so i could not talk and agreed to try them back on Monday. i forgot, so they called back the following Monday and I was hosting a Zoom meeting for work and could not talk so i let it go to VM. the VM was just they were gathering information about my appointment. i again forgot to call them back, so then Tuesday, two weeks before the June 28 appointment, i was in the middle of loading my car with multiple things for errands i was running. told them that, but I was happy to talk if they could hold on a sec. let me just tell you, these people were the most rude, dismissive I have ever spoken with. between the first person calling June 10, to the person who called June 14, they had an arrogant attitude and insisted I share IF I was referred to see a "NEURO opthamologist" and if so, what condition was it for, and who it was who referred me to them. since that information had already been submitted online, it felt i was being put on the defensive to justify WHY I NEEDED TO BE SEEN. the condition both my Rheumatologist, and optometrist want to rule out is called Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA) and can cause blindness. I have 4 of 5 symptoms, including the sister illness called PMR, of which 50% of those patients develop GCA. The fact than anyone was treated as if i didn't DESERVE to have an appointment with Dr. Sabet is ridiculous. these are not the only neuro opthamologists. to be treated with such disrespect is really not acceptable. if this is how they treat POTENTIAL patients, God only knows how dismissive and rude they are to current ones. no thanks!! read more

I have been Dr. Sabet's patient for about 16 years (since I was 6, WOW), and have always been satisfied with each of my visits. He is very professional, informative, and compassionate; which a lot of healthcare providers lack. His staff are very courteous, kind, and helpful, unlike a lot of practices in the area unfortunately. They are always happy to see me when I come in annually, and the feeling is mutual! I never have issues scheduling, and they never fail to remind me that I'm due for a visit when that time of year approaches. Thank you to Dr. Sabet and his incredible team for everything they have done for me all of these years. I was visiting family in Northern Virginia when I had an eye emergency. I went to the Inova emergency room and was sent to Dr. Sabet. He came in to see me on Christmas Day, which was amazing. Dr. Sabet's examination was thorough and he explained what he was doing each step of the way, which was very comforting. His explanation of my condition and what to do about it were very clear. Having an emergency at any time is stressful, having one over a holiday when you are away from home is even more stressful, and Dr. Sabet's professionalism and kindness helped me make the best of a bad situation - I was able to enjoy my family celebration. My regular opthalmologist confirmed everything that Dr. Sabet told me, and I am on the road to recovery. Even though I am from out of town, Dr. Sabet called to follow up with me a week later to see how I was doing. read more

Knows his stuff! I was amazed at how great Dr. Sabet was at answering questions and making very good diagnoses and treatment. He solved several problems I have been having and explained a lot about what is going on with my eyes. Unfortunately I can't get cataract surgery yet but I am going to be able to try a number of things to improve my eyesight and my dry eyes. He is wonderful. read more

Horrible horrible horrible! I went to get an updated glasses and contacts prescription and they didn't even give me either. The stand in Dr. Surig while Dr Sabet was away didn't even know how to use their computer so I walked away with no services truly rendered but a ton of time wasted. They also only take medical insurance and not vision plans. They didn't explain that most medical insurance run vision through their own vision plans in my case GEHA runs them through eye med. They don't take this vision plan either even though it is through my medical insurance. I ended up with a $1,000 for no services truly rendered. Incompetence beyond belief! read more

I came to Dr Sabet 8 years ago and have been very satisfied. He is knowledgable and friendly. I trusted him with my lasick operation and have had no regrets. In my most recent visit everyone in the office was up beat, professional and courteous. The staff took whatever time they needed to make the patient happy. Been going here for 4 years. The eye docs are great. The front staff are incompetent, rude, unorganized, and completely unprofessional. I have had the same contact prescription for 4 years. When i went in earlier this year, i came home with new contacts and put them in and something was wrong. Turns out they had messed up my prescription by writing one of the numbers down wrong. I had 2 boxes like this. When i tried to take them back, they wouldn't take back the opened box, even though it was their mistake. They took back the unopened box and said they would order me a new one. This was about 2 months ago. They called me on a Friday saying they box was in and i could pick it up. I took off work that morning to pick them up, got there, and they couldn't find them. They told me next time not to come til they called me very rudely. I told them they did and made them listen to the voicemail. They said 'oh'. idiots. So they said they would call me when they found them and i could come back and get them or they could mail them. So later that day they called me and then sound put out when i told them i wanted them to mail them. They said they should be there in 4-5 days. this was 3 weeks ago. I'm still waiting.. Just called them and they act like they have now idea what im talking about. These people are either just dumb or completely unorganized. I'm glad they dont work in a doctor's office. This would be the type of place to remove the wrong organ. Be careful with this place. you might get lasik on the wrong eye. Idiots read more

Dr. Sabet is a wonderful doctor; however, I have decided to stop using this office due to the rest of the staff and the overall business model. Pros: -Knowledgeable doctor -Doctor is friendly -Doctor will answer all questions Cons: -Front staff is rude (I've seen them interact with many patients, and they seem to always take a tone and never make eye contact or smile at anyone that comes in the door) -You have to sign your bill once your eyes have been dilated, and you cannot see the papers that you are signing. -They have no email or online business communication or service. -They have lost my paperwork and have taken over a month to fill my contacts orders. I continued to use this provider only because I liked the doctor and his optical shop technician, but the shop technician quit and my latest contact order has gone missing again. If the staff were to go through some courtesy training and if they went to more online systems that might speed things up, I might consider returning. I wish I had a better review since the doctor has such good patient care, but I must review the business on the whole. read more

While the doctors at this office were professional and pleasant (I saw Dr. Stanley), the billing department is horrible. My appointment was 6 months ago, and despite multiple phone calls and conversations, they have yet to correctly submit a simple annual eye exam to insurance. They send the payment to collections and when I called the office to explain again how they needed to submit to insurance, they were unapologetic about the mistake and the claim has still yet to be filed correctly several weeks later. I would recommend that you look elsewhere. read more

I arrived on time for my appointment 8:30 am just like any appointment (mine was at 9am) and the office was closed. Then I see someone opening the office and immediately closing it, I get out of my car, tried to get in and the lady screams from behind the desk: "We are closed" to which I respond "I have a 9am", and she respond: "Come back later". Finally I am there at 9am sharp at the door and no doctor to be seen, I did not get to see the doctor until 10am! Dr. Stanley, she was fabulous and she make sure that I was taken care of and she is the reason I am giving one star. Now, I have been a patient at this office since I moved to the DMV and have the exact same insurance since then. Never had an issue until this last visit. The billing department keeps sending a bill stating that "I don't have coverage". I have talked to my insurance and make sure that they receive the claim, etc. I almost feel like I should have them on a conference call! Last fall 2015 a very nice lady from my insurance company assure me that she found the problem and that the bill will was going to be paid. They stopped sending me a bill and I thought: Great! Bill must be taken care of... well guess what? A few days ago I received the bill again!. The people at the 800 number are just bitter and super rude -If you are able to talk to someone! and if you leave a message they NEVER call you back -I probably left 5 messages. I called Dr. Sabet's office this morning and a "Regina" from billing was to call me and I am still waiting... Dr. Sabet the billing department and your staff are running your practice, it is a shame. You and Dr. Stanley are great but I almost feel like I want to ignore the bill and not attend to your practice to avoid the billing and your rude staff. read more

I have to say that I didn't know what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised. I called the office at 10AM and was fit in at 3PM. I have an eye injury and prior LASIK so I was concerned when my vision was noticeably reduced from my injured eye. Dr. Sabet and Dr. Stanley were wonderful and made me feel instantly at ease. Dr. Sabet not only looked at the injury but also took a deeper look at both of my eyes to ensure that nothing was damaged. I could sense the genuine concern and believe that he performed the most comprehensive exam I've had in years. He even recommended that due to the impact injury it could take some time for symptoms to surface and he'd like to keep an eye on the injury for the next few months. I was in and out in 90 minutes which I feel is excellent for a comprehensive exam. At no time was I rushed and everyone was extremely friendly. I sincerely believe that he is a wonderful ophthalmologist and will be going back for my regular checkups. It's worth the drive from Sterling to Alexandria for this level of care. read more

This office needs to find a new billing department and basically needs to close.... I paid my bill however they still sent letters threating to send me to collections. When i called the lady i spoke with was extremely rude and not even apologetic about the mix-up even though it was a 30 day difference from when i paid and when they sent the collection notice she claimed it was an overlap. I used to really like this office, but after my last visit and attempts at follow up about my glasses, I will be finding a new doctor. My eye doctor left the practice so I scheduled an appointment with another doctor. After the initial exam and dilation I was told there were 5 other people ahead of me for the doctor I was supposed to see and would I see the other doctor. My mistake was saying yes. She couldn't use the equipment and I had bright lights shown in my eyes so much I could barely see. Then she was "concerned" about the eye pressure readings so she ordered all kinds of additional tests, including photographing the eyes. That took forever because between the dilation and bright lights my eyes were so dry I couldn't keep them open long enough for all of the scans. In the end, I spent more than 2 hours there and was told to come back in 4 weeks and a note was sent to my primary care doctor about her concerns. I got a second opinion instead who said the eye pressure readings were right in the middle of the acceptable levels and I had nothing to worry about, except the extra expenses of the initial visit and second opinion. I got my glasses there as well (they take my insurance). There has been a flaw in the transition, which I noticed about a month in and it has only gotten worse, but I could never get the optical shop on the phone or to return my messages. So, I has to eat the cost of those glasses and pay out of pocket for a new pair. I really hate that things went downhill because I had really liked the office previously. I had been going annually for about 6 years. read more

I saw a doctor at this office for a minor eye issue and waited approx. 40 minutes to be seen. The appt. went ok and the doctor made a follow up appt. for the following week, which I didn't think I'd need. 72 hours prior to the follow up appt. I called to cancel, since, as expected, I didn't need the appt. I had to speak to two receptionists and wait on hold. The first didn't seem to be able to find the followup appt on the schedule, the second confirmed she would cancel it. Two weeks later, I received a bill for $25.00 from an out-of-state billing company for a 'no-show' appt. I phoned twice, the office and billing numbers for the doctor, but could not reach anyone as it was a holiday. Reading the reviews on Yelp and other sites, I anticipate a problem with this billing agency. What a terrible conclusion to what otherwise would have been an adequate experience! This office needs to get its front and back office functions in order to meet the level of professionalism of the doctors themselves. I will update progress on the messed-up billing issue, which we all know can turn into a BIG nightmare. If you're considering making an appt. with this office, be wary about what can happen with their appt/billing practices and don't expect to be seen at your scheduled time. read more

My husband and I had our first visit with Dr. Sabet. By far, he is the best ophthalmologist we've ever seen. He's incredibly knowledgable and caring. We were also very impressed with this staff. My father had a fairly complicated eye surgery based on a droopy eyelid. Dr. Sabet did a great job of explaining the procedure and performing the surgery. He was professional and made my elderly father feel completely at ease. His bedside manner was great and I can not recommend him enough. read more

Overall my experience here was great. The office manager is great and the doctor is top notch! The front staff and assistants have an inconsistent demeanor, they can be pleasant but I also experienced some verily unprofessional attitude. This is my only complaint. Other than that, the doctor is personable, knowledgeable and professional. I felt confident putting my vision in his hands. Before my surgery, I had some questions for the doctor after my initial consultation. Instead of having to come in for a 5 minute visit just to answer them, he called me to go over my concerns. This was delightful and showed beyond the norm customer service. The surgical nurses at the Fairfax Surgical Center brought an exceptional experience to my surgery. They were so caring and friendly. Dr. Sabet and the anesthesiologist explained the surgery and reassured me which calmed my nerves. The surgery went really smoothly and it was over before I knew it. My only pet peeve is every time I see this doctor it is a standard 1 hour wait after my scheduled appt. time to actually see the doctor. They are not respectful of patient's time. read more

PLEASE STAY AWAY!! I and my son arrived for our appt. and I informed the front desk clerks of the insurance we both had. Not only was my insurance for my son not billed, but we received a bill for my son based on information I provided to the Dr. The Dr. did nothing, nor shared any information that was "new" to me and had the audacity to charge me for information that I provided to him. To make matters worse, I telephoned the office several times regarding the bill I received and was told that someone would call me back- after following up with the office, I was advised that because the Dr. put the code in as medical, that is why I was receiving the bill. I informed the billing consultant that we would not be returning to the practice ever. A few weeks later, I received a bill for a no-show appt! This place is all about price gouging and has the most unprofessional staff I have ever had to deal with. read more
