Outstanding! It took 3 1/2 months to see Dr. Siegel, but it was worth the wait. I was trying to get in due to an eye problem that just came up unexpectedly. He confirmed nothing serious but did find that I was starting at the beginning of macular degeneration, with Drusen forming slowly in the back of my eye. It was good that I saw him, and he will follow me yearly. He came highly recommended by a high school friend who has seen him for a long time. I can't say enough about him or his office staff. Everyone was friendly and super helpful. I highly recommend visiting here if you have eye problems, from simple to complex. read more

I would recommend Dr. Zaver to anyone who needed an eye doctor, Last year, I was unsure about receiving cataract surgery and Dr. Zaver discussed the procedure and was thorough in answering all my questions and concerns. Eye Physicians is a fine place for an eye examination and for a prescription for eye glasses. If you want contact lenses, I would strongly recommend going someplace else. My experience from Aug/Sept 2023 is described in greater detail: After two appointments, I picked up my contact lenses from Eye Phys. However, the prescription differed from what E.A. had told me orally. I sent him an e-mail about the discrepancy; he never responded. I made an appointment to see E.A.; he cancelled it. Dr. McConarty at the Village Eye Center confirmed the error and gave me a correct prescription. With the contact lenses that I purchased on-line I can see better and the lenses fit better than both lenses from Eye Phys. which cost $250. read more

My problem is not with any particular doctor at this practice. My problem is I cannot even call them to ask a question before I can make an app't because their phone line is disconnected. Yet, their website still says "Need help scheduling? Call 703-356-6880." I've done so many reviews on Opthalmologists and was looking forward to be able to see one at this practice near where I live. Yet, the doctor I wanted to meet and stay with for a long time to come says he does not see patients older than 65 yo. I wanted to call them and ask them if this info is still true before I make an app't online. But now they disconnected both their phone numbers (the other one is 703-437-3900). This to me is unethical as if a medical practice purposely rejecting any human interaction, never mind medical treatment for new patients. Or else, these doctors do not even know that they're failed by their business side of their practice. Any explanations? read more

Dr. Zaver was excellent with my husband, who had struggled for years with irritated eyes. He tightened his eyelids to keep the eyelashes from curling in - no one else saw that problem. He also did cataracts surgery on both eyes, with an awesome combination of seeing distance and being able to read without correction. Another bonus - my husband is deaf, and Dr. Zaver was kind, and helpful in communicating with him. Highly recommend! Sylvia Casas de Leon was awesome. I had been going to another opthamologist for decades. I was switched to another doc along the way. At that point I believe they got too big for their britches with my final appointment being the crescendo- I waited an hour to see the doc. Here, I was in and out in under an hour. Dr, Sylvia was preceded by a tech who was very efficient and Dr. Sylvia was professional and polite. At the end she and I chatted and I learned a great deal about computer "blue" light. Dr Faheem. Ahmed has been my eye surgeon, (and before him Dr Ken Karlin) since I was diagnosed with narrow angle glaucoma over 10 years ago. Dr Karlin successfully treated me for that condition and I have returned for annual checkups since. When Dr Karlin retired and Dr Ahmed took over his practice and patients, Dr Ahmed never missed a beat. As my cataracts grew progressively worse, Dr Ahmed and I decided it was time to address the issue in 2021. Dr Ahmed performed cataract surgery on each eye, 2 weeks apart, and the changes to my vision were truly profound! I now have perfect 20 / 20 vision in both eyes and have put away all glasses except for sunglasses for the first time in 66 years - truly spectacular results. He is a superbly talented and compassionate surgeon! I am forever in his debt. read more

I can't thank enough Dr. Ahmed Faheem and the complete staff at Eye Physicians of Virginia for a true "eye opening" experience. Their professionalism is of the highest standards, their organization in the office and at the Reston Surgery Center is impeccable, and the courtesy and friendly manners they all demonstrated are reassuring and encouraging. I am a professional pianist. I perform internationally, and I also have a music studio. My vision is as essential as my hearing and my hands. I must be able to see close, intermediate, and far. Dr. Faheem understood my needs with patience, great interest and empathy. He asked about the different distances' measurements on the piano to the stand, my bench, etc. He performed cataract surgery on my right eye last Wednesday. The whole experience at the Reston Surgery Center -arrival, registration, preparation, and surgery went so smoothly. Dr. Faheem was there and ready. He remembered me and my "demands" with a smile and familiarity. The surgery took no more than five minutes. I did not feel any discomfort. I was pampered! Afterwards, I was explained all the post-surgery routine in great detail. I couldn't believe it: I could see so well, no pain, no itchy or scratchy sensations as friends had told me. I recommend everybody to go to him for all your vision care. Dr. Siegel and his colleagues are excellent ophthalmologists. The office is well run and you almost never have to wait to see the physicians. The front staff are very professional and pleasant. Most of my experience has been with Dr Siegel and I agree with other reviewers that he is super smart, thorough, patient, and kind. He takes the time to explain things and you never feel rushed. The office even squeezed me in one day when I scratched my cornea - it was very painful and they took care of it right away. Highly recommend this practice if you are looking for top-notch doctors with expert knowledge of the latest treatment options. My experience was excellent from the second I walked in. The receptionists were very welcoming, cordial and attentive. I was immediately greeted by the technician who did the initial eye exam and asked all the questions. I only waited for a few minutes before Dr. Ahmed walked in (which is also not a typical experience as we usually have to wait for a while before the doctor comes in). Dr. Ahmed was extremely friendly. He took the time needed to discuss my concerns and performed all necessary tests. He explained the diagnosis in details and the necessary next steps. I am anxious and nervous at all doctor's appointments, the staff was very friendly, outgoing and did not appear to "rush" thru the appointment as some doctors offices do, the techs and Dr Ahmed were very reassuring, listened to my questions and answered so I could understand. Dr Siegel is relatively new to the practice and I saw him with what I thought might be an urgent matter. I have been seeing another doctor in the practice for years but she wasn't available when I wanted to come in. Dr. Siegel is professional, knowledgeable, and clearly concerned about both my vision and eye health. He took the time to explain what was going on (floaters) and what I could expect going forward. He advised me on what I should look for (pun intended) to know if I might have an emergency situation going forward. He spent time with me, answered my questions, and told me what to expect each step of the way. He's on the younger side and he's a highly competent doctor. Overall this was a terrible experience. Even though they are very expensive, this office was listed as a preferred provider with my insurer, so I saw Dr. Karlin. This was my first time there and I was there for more than an hour. Of that hour, the doctor spent a total of maybe 10 minutes with me. He rushed in, never introduced himself, ran through a few questions, dilated my eyes (without asking if I had to drive afterwards...which I did), and then he abruptly left. They use VERY dated equipment. It may still work, but so old that I snapped a pic and sent to my ophthalmologist friend in CA! The most useless $300 I ever spent. read more

If I could give them zero or negative star rating, I would. I had an appointment this morning with them. Prior to that, they asked me to email them the referral from my primary doctor to make sure all the information that they needed was there. This was about two weeks ago. Today, upon arriving at their office, checking in, they looked at me and said that they don't accept my insurance. I was stunned as they had reviewed all the info from my referral prior to letting me make this appointment. To get here, I had to fight rush hour traffic, decided to take the toll road so I could avoid getting here late. Took hours off work so I could come to this appointment. After all of this, they looked at me and pretty much said that it wasn't heir fault and that they didn't know what my insurance was (denied receiving that referral email). I still have the email to them as proof. Bad bad customer service. No one bothered to call and let me know that my insurance was bad. Attitude sucked, as if your time isn't valuable to them. read more

I have been a patient with Dr. Kenneth Karlin for many years. I had an occlusion in my left eye and my original eye doctor recommended I see Dr. Karlin in his McLean office. Dr. Karlin saw me immediately and he sent me to Dr. Von Fricken in Fairfax, VA to determine if I had a torn retina. Instead, I had a small blood clot (occlusion) of the veins in my left eye which could have left me permanently blind. Dr. Von Fricken sent me to Dr. Preston for visual field work and other treatment. I credit these three doctors with saving my vision. I have been with Dr. Karlin ever since. IMO, he is on par with the best. Yes, he does not waste time chit chatting and is very focused on his patients. Dr. Karlin is a cataract specialist also and performs cataract surgery when necessary. I had both eyes done within a two week period at the end of Sept. and early Oct. His expertise is beyond excellent! The review by Brittany O. should be totally disregarded, since she clearly is a negative person who looks to find fault, instead of the good. I have no problem driving after my eyes were dilated. Anyone who feels they cannot drive after their appointment could go downstairs to the coffee shop and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee for an hour or so. read more

My experience with Dr. Anne Schwart was about the most careless/callous experience I have ever had in my 53 years. My eye prescription test was done in a jiffy and wasn't accurate and when I expressed concern she just dismissed it away and then made light of the fact that since she wore a carpal tunnel wrist band its hard for her to capture readings accurately. Then she did a hard sell on the expensive daily disposable lenses because that's what they sold. When I insisted that I wanted to stick with the 2 weekly disposable lenses and needed that kind to test the new prescription she said she had none to match the prescription and send me home with a daily disposable to try. EVEN that did not work since I could not read my cell phone well with those. When I called to say that the prescription was not correct she had a tough luck attitude and said I could just go back to my older prescription or go with hers and no retesting would be done and hung up the phone. Now I am stuck because I don't a prescription that is correct and my insurance only allows one test per year. Being able to see well is the most basic need and an ophthalmologist who can not take the role of capturing an eye prescription accurately is certainly not worth her license. read more
