I said, "my knee is infected, don't I need an antibiotic "He said to leave it alone and he would see me in a year. My knee became more and more painful, so my daughter took me to the ER. The ER doctor said "you have a very serious infection." He started me on an IV of vancomycin. I had MRSA which had gotten so bad it was in my bone. I was admitted to the hospital. Dr P operated again, but the infection was still there. I was transferred to Dr Bell in the same practice. Dr Bell: specialized in knee and hip surgeries that had gone wrong. I underwent three more surgeries iand an additional hospital stay for blood transfusions as I had developed a bleeding ulcer because Dr. Picerno would not give me proper meds for pain, muscle spasms and stabbing joint pain. I was forced to take large doses of Advil. Dr Bell gave me meds for muscle spasms and nerve pain and Percocet for the pain in my knee. Because Dr. Picerno did not treat the infection when it first appeared, I almost lost my leg. I had a total of six hospital stays in one year which left me deeply in debt. I had to have expensive Cubicin IVs three times a day at home. It took one year to recover from MRSA. I am left with severe scar and a limp, loss of stamina and lifestyle.

On the first visit he sat me down and we talked about where the pain was and what my options were for getting me back to my old self. He took the time to show me my MRIs, explain what he saw and made sure that I understood. He recommended injections to see if that was where the pain was coming from and sure enough, 1 injection on both sides of my hips and 2 months later, the pain returned. Next option was either more injections and nerve ablation OR SI joint fusion. We discussed in depth the pros and cons with each and we decided on the fusion surgery. In Feb 2021 he did my right SI joint and the band of pain that stretched around my hips was gone even though I had months of recovery ahead of me. My 1st month post-op in Mar 2021 went well. He answered all my questions and got me set up for physical therapy for 6 weeks. Unfortunately physical therapy wasn't enough and I needed a Lumbar Microdiscectomy, done Sept 2021. My back feels a lot better but we will have to wait to see if it gets close to 100% recovered. Fast forward to 2023 and I'm still having pain. I did try to go back to Dr.Guiot but his practice as been bought out and they only handle injury claims now. That sucks however I wish them the best.

In Febuary my neck became infected, he went back in and cleaned it out and closed it back up. He put a picc line in for antibiotics which I broke out in blisters. So they discontinued that. The infection never cleared up. He sent me to a wound specialist, I had a wound vac ,and I dealt with an open pus wound from feb till sept he finally was convinced it was time to do something about it. So Back in i went and he took all the hardware out and stitched me back up. On my last visit with him I told him my fingers were going into atrophy and the back of my neck was sinking in. He said there was nothing more he could do for me. I ended up going to someone else who advised me i did need more surgery, including putting the hardware back in and call in a plastic surgeon and he needed to go further up as the mri showed. I had to undergo a 6 hr surgery, and everything is healing fine with no infection.

ER doctor called in his general surgeon who specializes in colon/rectal area to tend to me and he was fantastic both during ER drainage and follow up appointments with another drainage/abscess/fissure/fistula. General Surgeon is thorough, listens and recommends best recovery for your particular health/body. Highly recommend this hospital and staff! High quality knowledge and ER nurse was very attentive and knowledgeable. Went here after Avecina Urgent Care in St Augustine was horrible and the PA did not even look at skin anal area to correctly diagnose it was an abscess that needed ER attention while in excruciating pain. Do not use that Urgent Care in St Augustine!

I am extremely disappointed. I have gone to Dr. Northrop for a bad knee. The last time was 3 months…read moreago. He has been pushing for me to have a total knee replacement utilizing his robotic approach. I found out that Physical Therapy would be helpful for me to build up the muscles around my knee. He has never suggested it. So I called his office. They said he needed to see me. I explained I saw him 3 months ago. His PA insisted I see him again. When I pressed why he wanted to see me she said he wanted to go over what kind of physical therapy I will need. I told her I will not pay $80 for an appointment when the Physical Therapy place knows what to do. All I needed was a script. She then said that my insurance won't pay for PT since I saw the doctor three months ago. I told her I was not going though insurance for the PT. Then they gave me another story and said maybe something has changed with my knee in the past 3 months. I have had 2 sets of X-Rays over a year and nothing has changed. When she exhausted her reasons for seeing me she put me on with another woman who said they must see me. I am done with Dr. Northrop. Obviously my $80 is of utmost importance to him. Beware!!!!!!
