I found Sun4light on a Thursday and they told me they will be here the following Monday at 10. I placed a tarp to cover the hole because there was rain in the forecast. They showed up as scheduled and gave me an estimate the next day so I hired them to do the job and they gave me a date to do the job after March 20th in the middle of the pandemic. They were doing another job on the same block and when I asked for a discount the lady in the office told me she would give me a "neighborhood" discount. Again, they showed up as scheduled, and did the job in a couple of hours not including the time they spent to go to the store to buy the matching shingles. He took pictures and sent them to me since I did not go to the roof myself. Because of "social distancing" when I was presented with the bill I saw no discount but I wasn't going to argue back and forth so I wrote the check and decided to ask the lady later. I was told I would get a receipt in the mail The next day it rained dogs and cats so I claimed to the attic to see if I would find any puppies or kittens but it was all high and dry. A few days later I called the lady in the office and reminded her of the discount. Check and receipt arrived Monday this week in the mail and because I am paranoid about the virus I don't open my mail but 4 days after I pick it up. Here are the facts, plain and simple: Fact #1: In September of 2022, Covenant Roofing came out to secure tarping for us in order to guard against further interior water damage from the coming storm. Fact #2: After the storm, three other roofers confirmed that Covenant had secured the tarps in a way that had caused needless damage. Fact #3: The roofer who eventually did the repairs outlined for us in detail how to secure tarping in a way that does not extend the damage, which information was shared fully with Covenant. Fact #4: We had to replace the majority of our roof for almost $5,000, and Covenant refused to contribute to that cost or even to refund us the cost of the tarping they did, which, according to the other three roofers, had caused the majority of the damage. That's it. I've neither added nor withheld anything to make it seem better or worse than it was. No opinion. Those are the facts, plain and simple. My main complaint, the sales person promised the crews would be clean and put tarps down to catch 100% of the debris, and we wouldn't even be able to tell they'd been here. Now we're four months past the install and we are still picking up bits of shingle, tar paper, plastic, and most egregiously, ROOFING NAILS in the yard nearly every SINGLE time we do yard work. In the first two weeks we picked up over a hundred nails from the yard and DRIVEWAY (come on, now!). We seriously found two more yesterday and two more today. It's NEVER ENDING. With the sales guy's suggestion we had them put in wide mouth gutter drains to help with the constant gutter clogging problems -- so what do they do? First they installed them wrong (oversized drains with standard drain holes does no good), so I printed out and handed the project manager installation instructions from the manufacturer. They came back out to redo it, but contrary to those instructions they used a ton of caulk, and also put caulk on every joint. Guess what gutter debris does when it hits a caulk. We also had them do some siding repair and had to be extremely specific about what we wanted them to do vs asking "replace anything that's rotting" which I would expect to be a reasonable request. I expected SO much more from a family company this old and established. Sadly, NOT recommended.

I called Roofwerks several months ago for two things:…read more [#1] I had a specific leak in my roof that turned out to be coming in through a broken spot under an attic window. [#2] I wanted to get a quote for re-painting my metal roof with a sealant. I paid that invoice, and called again several weeks ago for two more things: [#3] We had a leak in a corner under our roofline where two gutterlines meet. The insurance appraiser suspected it was due to a gap under the roofline that rain was blowing through during hard wind. I was hoping they would install some sort of flashing or protection over that gap, which would probably require gutter removal to reach. [#2 again] Since I hadn't received an estimate after the first job, I followed up about that. The people who came out (5/25/2022) did not fix the gap under the gutter corner, though I don't know why: it has since been fixed by another provider. Instead, they applied a single stripe of sealant down a roof line where there was no evidence of leakage. They also said they would provide an estimate for tightening screws and re-painting the roof for maintenance. This already felt like redundant work, since that's what they had supposedly done the first time, so I really didn't expect the expensive invoice that followed: $840+tax. I responded asking for clarification of the charges. (They quoted $168 per hour, and two men were there for 1.5 hours. That puts the paint used at $336.) I didn't hear back, so I follow up two days later, to which I received a reply that she was working on it. Two more weeks later, I followed up again, and was promised a prompt response. On Tuesday June 21, I got an email that the invoice had been dropped to $625+tax... still a flat price with no breakdown of hours and materials. Again, I asked for clarification of the costs, but at this point also decided to write this complaint. I ALSO PAID THE INVOICE. (I clarify this because I'm not doing this to justify stiffing them. I can afford $678, but I can't afford to spend any more time or patience waiting for an explanation or follow-through. My time is better spent making a BBB complaint and sharing my experience here.) So, to summarize: - They charged for duplicate work, since they were supposed to have provided an estimate after coming to address the first leak but never did. - They painted a single stripe down the seam of those roof lines and then tried to charge $336 (later $121) for the paint. - There was no evidence of leakage there. The actual leak was later repaired by another provider in the original spot that I pointed out but that they didn't repair. - It took two of their people 1.5 hours to look around the roof of a 1020sqft house (again, for what, I don't know, since they had already been out to estimate this before) and paint a white stripe that didn't need to be painted. - They still haven't provided an estimate that I think I've paid for twice now.

I contacted Greg to remodel 2 bathrooms in my 1950's house. The challenge with my remodel were the…read morefact that the floors and walls were not perpendicular nor flat. Bathroom 1: Hall shower where the shower floor did not drain, leaving 2 gallons of water on the shower floor. The in-wall valve (rough in valve) made noise when the shower was in use. 36" x 36" corner shower. Greg tore out the old showers and started working on the plumbing. He added additional framing to accomodate the new tile, replaced the rough-in valve and some of the existing PEX piping to accomodate the new shower system. He framed out a new shower floor and reworked the floor to allow for great drainage. He water-proofed the backing and floor with the appropriate membranes and started laying the tile to ensure the look was even and straight... a real challenge in any 80 old home! Bathroom 2: Master tub / shower combo which had a recirculation system built into the tub. The mold coming out of the recirculation system was constant and no one wants to take a bath in algee / moldy water, despite numerous cleanings. Greg replaced the tub, old tile and installed a new rough-in valve for the shower. The old floors posed a challenge, but Greg made it work so that the tub was stationary, and installed correctly. The subway tile was installed on 3 walls of the tub, and new plumbing was installed using PEX / Sharkbite compression fittings. I wanted to work on painting the walls, as I am a lot of experience with drywall, flattening and correcting wall blemishes and paint. Overall, Greg to a great job. He overcame the challenges of the non-flat, non-perpendicular walls to ensure the tile lines were consistent across the walls. We worked through the project challenges and he even added a bathroom vent in to the Master bath for appropriate humid air venting. Even after months of use, I see that Greg cares how the tile looks and performs. Greg also installed 2 bathroom vanities (the sink / cabinet) and the associated faucets in both bathrooms. I am now enjoying the new showers, and am seeing the results of the showers actually being quiet! No more loud noises as people shower! The shower actually drains great, without any squeeging of the floor! Plus , they look absolutely fantistic. The vanities work and look great!

I hired Greg to renovate a half bath that had a toilet that leaked, damaging the sub floor and…read morehardwoods in the hall. The first red flag was Greg's cartoonish quote for work. Greg is a smooth talker and made it seem like it would all be good. He said payment would be due upon completion although there was no mention of this in the "contract." Turns out "Remove vanity and install custom vanity" means ripping out the large existing vanity, sink, and huge mirror and then popping down the pedestal sink THAT I BOUGHT. Period. Red flag #2: When I asked Greg about the massive drywall damage, he said "Is it in the contract?" The agreement does say he does not cover drywall repair, but this was literally left in a demo state. On Day 2, while the entire floor was ripped up with the crawlspace exposed, Greg asked me for a check. I said I planned to pay him with a credit card and it would take me a few days to move money around to give him the equivalent of cash. Day 3 he walked off the job claiming non-payment. After I calmly explained that I could not be in non-payment because no payment was due, Greg came back the next day like nothing happened... All of the insulations under the half bath was wet so it had to go. Greg did not want anything to do with replacing it. I went out and bought insulation and installed it myself. Either Greg or his plumber, Drew, cracked the first sink basin during install. Luckily Home Depot replaced it with no questions and Drew came back and installed the new one. Drew was actually great. I did all of the leg work for the return, so don't expect Greg to actually stand by his work or take responsibility for mistakes. Greg made it clear he does not do hardwood floor repair and I was fine with that. Turns out, my hardwood flooring guy discovered that there was a strange strip of plywood sub floor installed to fill a gap that was not actually supported. We found out why when he pulled it up. See photos. Don't expect structural repairs to actually connect to other structural members. Don't expect your tile OR subfloor to be level or flat. Don't expect a professional job.
