I signed up for lessons hoping to correct a speech impediment I have had since middle school. They swore this was absolutely possible. After about a month or two, I was getting the wildest compliments during lessons "you're going to be a star" and "embrace the fame thats coming your way" "you are about to be on TV" I didn't understand what was going on or even what this TV show was. I was humble and didn't want to ask questions. Before one of the showcases, I was even supposed to have a private meeting with one of her "producers" to record. After long, I realized the same eager crowd that showed up at these "producer showcases" to perform & impress were mostly the same ones coming to lessons. I was told things like "you'll have album in three years" and because of her connections with music stars.....maybe even a collab with Carrie Underwood. There was also *tremendous* pressure to come online and leave a 5-star review. I felt uneasy that things which seemed private and confidential about other students were shared during lessons. I also realized that she seemed to share things about me that I wish she wouldn't have. I wish that I would have walked away when I got to the point I was at...and never got involved with her "showcases" and her producers. I wish I would have trusted the bad feeling in my gut about all of it. It felt like mind games, with the wild promises, and the producers, and how they never talked to me directly about what was going on. I would be ashamed to talk like this to my voice students, and Mr. Riggs probably wouldn't approve of this business modality either. Now, I am trying to find myself again after the grief this has caused in my life. Which is far more than can be fit in this review. read more

It would be hard not giving her 5 stars because Stephanie is the best in Maricopa County. She does a fantastic job building your confidence, improving your unique style, and she's so much fun to be around. I have been taking lessons from SYSS for 11 months now and my voice has completely transformed. I took lessons simply to sing backup vocals and to sketch out song ideas so that my vocalist could have something to work with. By 8 months I had leap frogged my vocalist, now I'm an incredibly strong singer. I have a great ear but I never thought I had a pleasing tone to my voice. I couldn't believe how fast I was learning with Stephanie all within the first hour time slot I had! My first ever vocal lesson as well I was very happy she seemed very interested in helping me and having me reach my goals. But then something happened, today I drove up there for my 10:30am appointment with her as she mentioned last Thursday to push it back thirty minutes. She knows I drive from a town called Casa Grande, so I have to drive well over sixty miles to see her well needless to say I was there at 10:21am I waited until 10:50am she never showed up...I was so distraught no replies to my calls no replies to my emails. I was and still am very upset,with all the good reviews I expected the best but what I got was stood up. I'm very unhappy and will be taking my business elsewhere...I told her how serious music meant to me I guess she didn't feel the same. I am now taking lessons with Nanette Greener she is going to set me up with a guy who has tried out on the voice, she has had me sing in front of her other students, she has had them sing with me in front of me. She is the best instructor ever! She teaches in the art of opera and might I say I have noticed a significant increase in my vocalization and capabilities. I know now I wouldn't have ever learned with SYSS. She has helped me get over my fears of singing and she is going to get me into the music scene in the valley! Stephanie is by far the best voice instructor in Scottsdale. I have been to previous teachers in the past and have had to leave because of the awful quality and the fact that I couldn't sing anything but classical songs that are 500 years old. I will never forget my first lesson with Stephanie. After just one hour, she fixed every problem I had. No more straining, no more pulling, no more weak mix. I left the studio beyond satisfied and excited to go back. One morning, I woke up with absolutely no voice. I was terrified because I had to sing in front of 1000 people that night. The speech-level singing technique SAVED MY BUTT. With hardly any voice at all, I was able to sing so freely and well. (Just look at the slogan. She's not lying!) I'm in a band and have never taken vocal lessons before. My fist lesson was a bit awkward with the exercises and warm ups we did, but I could feel a huge difference that day in my voice in general.
