Vermicelli and hokkien noodles mixed with velvety smooth gravy, punctuated by slices of pork and the crunch of bean shoots, along with fresh calamari and shrimps, it truly brought me back to late nights eats on the streets of singapore. Bits of crispy pork lard and wee bit more charred flavour would really have rounded this dish off but i am being overly critical. Make sure you savour this with some sambal belachan. Hainan chicken rice 3.5/5, i am not 100% sure but maybe they use 'ayam kampoeng' which has less meat, less fat but more flavour. Trade off is meat has more texture. Rice is cooked well, chicken served warm but not deboned. Not a deal breaker for me. Service is homely, joint is clean. Wish i live in the area but will def return to sample other items.

They're famous for their chicken rice- but what they should be known for is this dish called the nasi lemak. It is a shockingly good dose of coconut rice, small crispy fish crackles, stewed curry beef, and a chilli that makes me sweat and weep. I don't know how these little Asian women eat this amazing spicy concoction. Wish the place was a little prettier- you wouldn't bring your date there. But for good Asian, it does the trick.

Very delicious dishes. We ordered the Pipi with Sambal,…read morewonton dried noodles with soft bone porks, and tofu desserts. The Pipi Sambal sauce went REALLY well with the fried crispy noodles. It was to die for. It wasn't too hot and spicy, but very fragrant, garlicky and tangy, tomato sauce-like. The wonton that came with the noodles fish was super flavorful as well. I didn't like the pork ribs much because it was a bit sweet. The tofu dessert was extremely smooth and piping hot. It melted in my mouth. The chendol was ok too. Only downside was there was a little bit of wait, and there were only 2 waiters, which made it hard to get their attention sometimes.

When we arrived it was very busy, we got taken to a shared table in which we didn't want. We order 2 noodle dishes 1 vegetable dish, which was a good amount for 3 people. The only thing is that both the noodle dishes were spicy even though the menu said it was not spicy, I recommend asking them what is popular because they can give you lots of suggestions. I liked them on Facebook and they gave us two free macha tea ice creams which were the best I have had. The service was good and the food was reasonably priced. The atmosphere was nice considering that it is located in a centre with lots of other Asian restaurants.

Whether you are after something quick and tasty like roti canai or a laska or if you are after a seafood feast or one of Singapores most famous dished the singapore chilli mud crab, Kreta Ayer has you sorted. We were welcomed and served by the wonderful staff. We were dining in a group and indulged in a variety of Singaporean delights from the menu. We were told that the seafood was sourced fresh and decided to test the waters. We ordered the Singapore Chilli Crab and as per tradition, the live Mud crab was paraded at the table. To start the ginger and shallot scallops were sweet and yummy. To mix it up we also ordered a Singaporean favourite, the roti canai, the stir fry noodles Char Kway Teow and the hawker style cereal prawns all of these taking us back to our recent visit to Singapore. What came next was the piece de resistance, the whole steamed coral trout which was literally melt in your mouth. This was followed by the amazing Singapore Chilli mud crab. The crab beautifully cooked and served in the mouth watering sauce with the mantou buns to soak up the sauce. For dessert we shared the soybean curd a simple dessert, add sugar cane syrup to taste. We also shared we also shared an Ice kachang which is always a favourite, a randomly delicious mix of shaved ice, multicoloured syrup, red bean, corn, condensed milk. We love this place for our Singaporean Hawker style food fix. Thanks to the staff of Kreta Ayer for an amazing meal and hospitality.
