Singer Hill Barber Shop is a true barber shop. It has everything you need, without any pretentious stuff you don't. It's in a good location with ample street parking. It's a comfortable shop with good reading material in the waiting area and always some good racing related stuff on the TV, most of the time, something you've never heard of. It's easy to make an appointment online and the prices are reasonable. Jeff is what I like to call an artist. I met him soon after moving to the area, and thankfully I have found my barber. We have great conversations about all sorts of random stuff. Most people that I meet there have also been getting their hair cut there for a long time. I don't even need to describe things other than potentially leaving it longer in the winter. The true test is that my wife always likes my haircut every time that I come home from the shop. Jeff the barber will not be rushed. He carefully took care of the very hairy guy in his chair and turned him out, looking dapper and well groomed. Jeff offered me a shot of whiskey while I waited..( I declined, but maybe next time). My senior citizen cut took much less time, but I too felt well groomed and the price was not unreasonable ($13, less tip) Small town main street vibe, I went mid week and it was a half hour well spent. read more

Asked for something super simple, I wanted it cut one length, all the way around. Apparently this wasn't good enough for the salon lady and she gave me layers. Unless you want an Afro, this is not ideal for someone with short curly hair. It felt like my opinion was invalid and the salon lady thought hers was better which prompted her to think she could do whatever she wanted to my hair. Also, the whole feel is very very small and intimate if you're into that. I was so uncomfortable and cried once I left. It was the older lady who did it, so if you want a surprise once she turns you around to look in the mirror, she's the gal you want. read more

Stopped in this morning for the first time since the new owner took over. The new owner is Vickie and was super friendly and welcoming. She was conversational and attentive to my needs and expectations. The prices are very reasonable with senior and children discounts. Great value and a great cut! Vicki is not only a lot of fun to talk with and has a lot of interesting stories, she most importantly gives a great hair cut for a very reasonable price $13-$18 depending on what extras you add on. Both my sons love this guy and they have completely different styles. One is a surfer dude look with long hair and curls and then my older son has a more dapper look. When we left today my son rambled on for about 20 minuets about how much he loved his hair and said "I just love it when he cuts my hair". I am not kidding and this is one very picky kid when it comes to how he looks, so Jeff is near to God in his book. From the moms perspective, Jeff is great, always friendly with the boys and listens well to what they want, all for a great price. No beers on tap while you wait, no wall-to-wall tv's, no squad of tattooed stylists that require appointments a month in advance. And that's what makes this place a great barber shop. I went in on a Saturday morning. There were two others in front of me, but the wait was perfectly reasonable. This place is simple: One woman, listening to jazz, giving great haircuts at a fair price. Bottom line: Great spot, pleasant conversation, genuine people, and a clean cut.
