Not my first visit to Italy, but my very first time traveling on a tour. Had many very nice memories and got to see and experience Italy in a way that would be impossible to do by myself. I would never travel with this group again. Ed Reder and his wife are uncaring, cold, self-centered people who don't mind leaving people behind, don't care if someone is injured and are unhelpful in case of emergency. I recently returned from A Japan trip a few weeks ago and my whole experience was ruined by Ed Reder! I've traveled with SIP twice before. On the first trip 2 yrs ago, I explained to Ed my knee issues... full knee replacement and then a revision. Reasons for the wheelchair. His response "why are you even here?" I was shocked! My response... I'm living life to the fullest and nothing is going to stop me from doing what I enjoy! Ed does not care about any of his travelers! So when I travel through airports I require a wheelchair. It's a challenge for me and I need to insure a safe arrival and departure when traveling. I did not ask for any assistance from any travelers and kept up with the group during the entire trip. I'm 62 yrs old and many of the other Travelers are in their 60's and 70's. Many of us have back, hip, knee issues. We're not spring chickens! Lol I have chronic knee pain but it doesn't stop me from living my best life! The 1st morning of the trip getting on the bus, Ed asked how I was doing...I told him great and it's because I used the wheelchair. If I didn't, I would have probably needed to rest that day. He told me that using a wheel chair was a problem! How dare he say that to me! He never asked why or show any concern. From that moment on, I was targeted and discriminated against. A few days after returning from the trip, Ed sent me an email stating that I was "physically unfit" to travel with his group! As soon as he saw me roll up in the wheel chair, he knew this trip was exceeding my limitations! Who is he to judge me?? His only concern was how it looked to the other Travelers! No one cared except him. He said I had some issues with stairs...yep I did! Others did too! So what! I didn't inconvenience anyone or have anyone make special accommodations for me. Took them a bit slower, was very careful and sometimes asked a fellow traveler if I could hold their arm and assist me with the stairs without rails. Sometimes, 3 or 4 of us ladies would hook our arms together and help each other! That's what people do... help each other. Not Ed!! I was totally appalled by his email and I will NEVER recommend his trips to anyone! God forbid someone gets injured on his trips! You're on your own! He just doesn't care! read more

Just returned from my first overseas trip and wanted to provide a review for others, especially any first-timers to group travel. As many have already stated, they are repeat travelers on SIP, which says a lot about the satisfaction of what SIP provides. I did my first trip to Bali and the accommodations were excellent as well as the tours and excursion options that SIP provided. One thing that I didn't expect to find was the quality of the people that also attended, and that was of particular value to a first timer like me. It's one thing to visit beautiful places but I s another to find so many considerate congenial people to share a trip with. Now for some caveats for those considering going on a SIP trip. Due to time commitments in the planning you have to be especially sensitive to being on time for the tours or you will literally "miss the bus". I saw on more than one occasion where those that didn't get to a departure on time unfortunately missed the bus because they weren't on time. This is for everyone's benefit because due to the amount of traffic in Bali, as an example, you may miss the specific vendor you're traveling to see staying open. It's a pet peeve of Ed's, and deservedly so. Time matters! In any case, as my review reflects I wouldn't hesitate to go on another SIP trip again. Ed, and Amy I found to be very affable. read more

This is really by far the best value around. I have been on 4 trips - Amsterdam, Dublin and Bruges in 2009, Sydney, Australia in 2016, Croatia in 2017, and the South of France in 2023. Ed is like a picky husband, taking care of all of the details, finding the best hotels, many times vetted, and excursions, already many times worked out as he's been going on these trips for literally decades. The best part is you don't feel it necessary to go on all the excursions if you don't want to. The group used to be called Athletic Singles, and there were many scuba diving adventures, etc. I was up for maybe snorkeling which I did. . . . Just be aware this isn't your regular tour company with a "worker" who doesn't care about fun himself. It's more like you're traveling with a would be friend who has already worked out everything. There are complaints sometimes from people who are expecting the opposite. . . . a bored agent type who will respond to your complaints like you're a customer. No one's a customer in these trips so you're expected to be on time, etc. I've always had a great time and many people like me are repeats. I hope to travel again with him soon. read more

This was my first trip with SIP and it exceeded my expectations. Thailand 2019 was an awesome trip planned by Ed and Amy. I thought the coordination of airfare, hotels, and especially all the excursions that were available were excellent. Our group size was approximately 44 people, and I was surprised how smooth everything ran from day to day. There were several couples traveling as well as singles. I didn't have any friends or family that was able to travel with me and SIP was a safe alternative. I got paired with an excellent roommate or I could have paid an extra single supplement. My roommate and I were able to communicate by phone and text prior to the vacation which made our meeting very relaxed and fun. We were like two ships passing in the night. A positive of the group size being large, is you have different ages, backgrounds, professions, and personalities that offer you several smaller groups of people you connect with and spend time socializing with. I made many new friends, some in my area that I will continue to stay in contact with. The quality of people on my trip was excellent. It's worth noting that I found 80% of the group had traveled with SIP before which to me was a huge recommendation. The big picture is that everything is set up for you and it's nice not to overthink things on your vacation. You are expected to be on time, check your itinerary, and have a good, fun, laid back attitude. I did, and it was wonderful. read more

I just came back from my 3rd trip with SIP 4 days ago! I am still on cloud nine! We went to the Amalfi Coast, which was a bucket list for me and it did not disappoint at all! We stayed in Sorrento (which stole my heart!) Capri and ended in Rome! It was a large group and everyone had a fabulous time. There was beauty at every turn! I love the way Ed and Amy run their trips. They have so much knowledge and know where and when to go to get everything in. You can choose to add on additional tours/events if you like, but they also include plenty so you don't miss any special places. I will say that you do need to do your homework and know what kind of country you will be in. There were a few that physically could not enjoy some of the beauty because in Italy people walk...a lot! There are cobblestone streets, alleys and a million stairs that are uphill and downhill. That IS the beauty of Italy! Ed states very clearly that you need to be healthy for his trips! They have many places in different countries to choose from so make sure you pick one that suits you. I have done Ireland, Scotland (which blew my mind!) and Iceland as well as Nicaragua (unexpectedly loved it!) and Costa Rica. I have already signed up for Tahiti! So many of the travelers that I have met are repeats on prior SIP trips, so that goes to show you how awesome they are. I have made fabulous friends from each of my trips that I still stay in contact with and sometimes have mini reunions. I never got the opportunity to travel with his company. The trip I booked did not include airfare. Ed recommended we book the same itinerary as he did so we would arrive together. I did but unfortunately one of the flight segments was cancelled so we all had to reschedule. I was unable to fly due to an airline snafu. I actually received a personal phone call from an airline representative apologizing to me and offering me a full refund of my basic economy ticket. Ed who's flight was now departing after mine asked me questions about checking in for the flight with the COVID travel documents. When I requested a full or partial refund or credit he turned me down. I filed a dispute with my credit card company and he fought it. He could have been gracious to offer me some credit towards a future trip since it wasn't my fault I couldn't get to join the group but he didn't. read more

No need to write detailed analysis of Ed Reeder as a human being, cus you can decide for yourself by reading his insensitive repudiation to people who find his personality to be, honestly, anti-people and abusive. Why would anyone want to spend a vacation with him around? As you begin your flights, he will never introduce himself so take a snapshot of him off his website. As you wait to board your first flight with his "company", he will never hold a sign "singles in paradise". In the foreign airport, he will not connect with you. You are left to figure out how to get to the bus that will take you to your hotel. What "good" tour guide behaves in this manner? WARNING: EXPERIENCED OVERSEAS TRAVELERS ONLY! If you have never traveled overseas, OMG, do NOT travel with singlesinparadise for your first experience! This "company" is only for exceptionally adept, confident travelers that can handle getting lost overseas where they don't speak English, personal emergencies, personal medical issues, injuries within the venues and being left behind in a foreign country. Now esp. with COVID-19 restrictions by airlines, you can be denied reentry to your country! Ed Reeder might not accompany you to the airport to return home! These are factual events I've witnessed - Yet I expect Ed will call me a liar to this review. He will not be there to help you. If you are OK with these traumatic uncertainties, knock yourself out with his "company". His only redeeming quality is his wonderful wife Amy. He sends her in to do his conflict management when he is confronted with a legitimate issue by a group member. It's his "company" and he needs to take responsibility for his short comings AND responsibility for every individual on the tour - but he does not! Yes, Ed Reeder lies. Repeat: Ed Reeder lies to cover his a s s, his irresponsibilities. It's evidenced in his nasty replies to these honest, unfavorable reviews. Yes, he gets very angry with people! (Although to his credit, I never heard him cuss.) As you read his replies, in his 30 years of touring, he states he has never been responsible for anything wrong!?!? Really? It's everybody else's fault? These are hallmarks of an abuser. YES, he will leave you behind!!! (But it's alright to him, if he misses his nightly updates which he promises in writing, to hold.) No, he will never issue a refund of any kind! Nothing about that on his website. If I have not made it crystal clear - I reiterate - he doesn't want interaction with the tour people.....just your money. Repeat: He just wants your money and leaves every person to figure it all out. He might start the group out for a venue but soon has left everyone behind wondering where to go. ESP. BEWARE of his understating the difficulty of venues! Do your own research before paying in signing up. HE GIVES NO REFUNDS. We Just returned from beautiful Croatia, what an amazing journey. Leaders Ed and Amy Reder did not let anything get in the way of planning this unique trip as they provided a safe and truly one of a kind experience for all participants. Airports were empty and everyone adhered to precautions on our Lufthansa flights. With Covid tests required within 48 hours of landing, we created an environment with travelers who played it safe but who also enjoyed a stunning country with very few competing tourists. 18,000 tourists in Plitvice NP had shrunk to 500, an opportunity of a lifetime. Outdoor cafes abounded and prices were shockingly low. We travelled to various ports with ease and even experienced a little weather, a welcome change from San Diego heat. Everyone was consistently on time due to Ed's management skills and things ran like clockwork. What impressed me most about Singles in Paradise and what will convince me to choose this group again is the fact that a number of travelers were repeat participants who greeted friends from around the country that they had met on Singles in Paradise trips in the past. This group includes singles and couples of a range of ages and all felt welcome. The itinerary included enough time with the group and on our own in various locations so the trip felt relaxed and unhurried. I just got back from my 5th trip with Ed and Amy. Thailand, Singapore and Philippines, New Zealand, French Polynesia and two weeks ago Nicaragua. Each trip was unique and well planned. Each trip I went alone, made new friends, always had people to hang out with and never once felt uncomfortable. Some tours and activities are included in the price and others you sign up for activities that interest you. Group travel is not for everyone. You have to have some independence and be responsible for yourself. Ed's trips are fun. Know your daily agenda. I have found his trip information gives a complete description of what to expect. You can be as busy or as lazy as you like. Those that sign up early for a trip get the best rooms --that is stated and not a secret. Always pick up the hotel card with the address. This is because we may be somewhere that you really love and want to stay longer than our "meet back" time. OK cool, text or find Ed and let him know and take a taxi or tuk tuK back. I have worked with three different tour companies for my trips abroad and so far Ed Reder's Singles in Paradise is FAR AND AWAY the best! Not only did he put together an AMAZING trip to Italy's Amalfi Coast (which, by the way, I am convinced is the actual Heaven) and Rome, but he paired me with the best roommate a woman could hope for. That was 6 years ago and she and I have been inseparable besties ever since, even traveled back to Europe again the following year. The itineraries are impeccably put together, the hotels are first rate, the tours are well planned and fun, the groups are eclectic and interesting and Ed doesn't even mind if you opt out of tours and run off and do your own thing. He really wants you to have the BEST possible trip you can. I am looking so forward to the Spain/Portugal trip Singles in Paradise is putting together for 2018. If you are a single person who REALLY wants to travel, but not by yourself, I highly recommend Singles in Paradise. Before you book with this "company," please do something nice for yourself and look at other tours. Many singles/solo tour groups offer a welcome dinner, a finale dinner with cultural entertainment and occasional lunches of local cuisine included in the package price. Also, the daily excursions/tours listed on their sites are included in the package price. This guy lists the itinerary descriptions clearly pasted from some brochures or websites, and then sends out a signup sheet for those activities about a month before you leave. You will pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars additional if you want to do anything you thought you were doing anyway, so tack that onto the package price. If not, you're paying to go somewhere and be left to your own devices. Besides the included daily hotel breakfast buffets, there are no planned meals. The described daily happy hour to connect and meet with fellow travelers was mostly a non-event. You can also plan to hemorrhage money all along because there are ongoing costs he's looking to pass on to you. The package price is only a starting point. You are a dollar sign. A fellow traveler asked me if this was my first trip with Ed. My reply, "Yes." Fellow traveler, "I'm sorry." This is a husband and wife traveling as royal guests on their own tours. His behavior was alternately condescending, dismissive, boastful, arrogant, or rude. Her demeanor was also dismissive, as well as disengaged and icy. They are not hosts. They are not fun. Or even interesting. They do not communicate. In addition, you may have to tolerate their pretentious crony couple friends hogging the front of the bus, disrespectfully subjecting everyone to their personal music playlist. It was difficult and annoying to try and make out what the local guides were saying as they had to speak over it. Then there was the bus ride that was a tortuous self-promoting advertisement for his past and future trips. And all of the bus rides where it was not announced where or when the next stops would be. Three hours between restroom courtesy stops is ridiculous. One local guide sat for most of the time as a passenger and said nothing. The group was simply too large for many of the indoor places we visited. But hey, head count, ka-ching! The trip I went on felt mismanaged, disorganized, rushed way too many times, and often as if there was no planning in place - in a word, unprofessional. This is a guy and his club. Read the fine print. It did not measure up to the many other singles/solo trips I've been on. Those were transparent, well organized, informative, entertaining and ridiculously fun. You may like the destinations that Singles in Paradise offers, just be aware of the kind of journey you'll be on before you subject yourself to it. For me, no place is worth it. read more

I travel frequently, sometimes with friends and sometines alone. I traveled to Africa in 2012 and Vietnam/Cambodia in 2015 with this group. Ed and Amy are amazing. The trips were well planned, logistics nearly flawless. My only gripe is that I tend to be the youngest person on these trips, by a lot. However, I always meet interesting people and have made a lot of good friends along the way. Have no hesitation with this group, they are amazing tours. read more

I would think long and hard before booking a vacation with Ed Reder, owner of Singles in Paradise. I was registered for a trip to Tahiti. We were to leave on June 20th. I did not get the tour information at the same time as the other travelers. SIP sends emails from at least four different email addresses. It's possible that my network blocked the email with the information to sign up for the tours. I did get the email that stated that all tour bookings were due in two days. I immediately signed up for the tours I was interested in. I was unable to get on the one tour that I was most looking forward to as it was sold out. When I expressed my frustration, Ed's immediate response was to inform me that I had a very bad attitude, accuse me of waiting until the last minute, suggesting I cancel the trip and stated he didn't want anyone on the trip with a negative attitude. Multiple emails were sent back and forth. He said that I would have to pay a name change to cancel and that if I wanted to still go I should "brighten my attitude". I never considered cancelling the trip prior to this exchange. However, he put me in a position that made it impossible for me to go. He treated me like a child and "spoke" to me in a rude and condescending manner. I was shocked that someone in tourism would treat their clients with so little respect. It would have been a very uncomfortable situation and there was no way I would have been able to enjoy myself had I elected to go. There are plenty of other travel agents out there. I had a wonderful trip with Singles in Paradise in Slovenia. The people on the trip were WONDERFUL. I've never had such a fun group of adventurers to travel with. You'll have a chance to sign up for many adventures you'd never think with any other tour group. I suggest you sign up for all the optional excursions.
