But I'd recommend for those who like to purchase organic meats and dairy - there was a vendor there with a long line of costumers looking to buy eggs and more. I believe they were the busiest vendor out of all and second the coffee vendors. We will return for sure another weekend!

I went on a farmer's market weekend recently. I hit 3 in 24 hours. This was by far the best and closest to what I am used to. Let me be clear, this was still maybe a 5 out of 10 to meet the CA market level, but the other 2 I visited were at best 2 out of 10. Why this one - large number of vendors, spread out in a park, multiple musicians playing, and FIVE vegetable stands!! Super happy.

Fresh veggies grown locally, crafts, jewelry, clothing, quilts and acoustic music. Locally grown coffee was interesting and even four food trucks. Shaved ice, bahn mis, brick oven pizza and bbq. There was even a water slide for the kids. And when one of the local community leaders is there with his family, I'm guessing that's a good sign. There were so many veggies I wanted to purchase. I will be back for pickling cucumbers and baby eggplants. There were even some homemade fruit ice pops that looked good. Very cool. Support Denton businesses. This is only on Saturdays from 9-1

I'm missing numerous things from home but one of them is my weekly (4mile) Sunday morning walk to…read moreFarmers Market. I've done it for decades. I think my sister in law was trying to cheer me up by bringing me to the Frisco Farmers Market this morning, but I left feeling even more sad. I'm really not used to having to drive to get to a farmers market and this was a completely different experience. There weren't very many stalls or similar items to mine back home. I'm used to countless tents with fresh flowers, fresh fish, meats, produce, nuts, soups, honey, dates, sprouts, etc. All of the vendors have TONS of fresh samples cut up. There are swarms of people everywhere. I typically leave farmers market not requiring breakfast because I've had so many fresh samples and I walk home with lovely treats and bouquets of flowers wrapped in newspaper. We also have tons of ready made food options, bakers, and endless vendors. This was all together different and extremely underwhelming. I even caught myself missing our regular paparazzi guys, who used to get on my nerves a little. It was odd walking around not seeing anyone stalking the farmers market guests for shots to sell. No A list actors, actresses, athletes, TV execs... It's all together unusual. I purchased a coffee and a couple vegan items from a vendor who said it was his very first day. I don't have any plans on returning to this farmers market even if I bore to death here, but would definitely recommend if you live walking distance as there were a couple options for fresh juices, a lemonade stand that looked tasty, a hand pie lady (with tiny samples, but enough to know she makes a great dough for them) and a few coffee options - which all together could make for a nice visit, just totally not worth driving here for.

My issue is not that the berries are repackaged nor is it about whether berries are in season locally. My concern is the lack of transparency. To me, the presentation and lack of labeling/pricing feel misleading as a customer. For example, if commercially grown berries (such as pesticide heavy Driscolls) are repackaged into open fruit baskets and sold in a store called a farmers market with no labels, pricing, signage, or disclosure of their source unless someone specifically asks, a customer could assume they're locally grown. (I'm using Driscoll's only as an example as again, I have no idea what brand you actually sell.) There's also a food safety concern. Repackaging produce into unlabeled containers removes Traceability customers rely on. If a specific lot was recalled because of an outbreak, how would customers know whether the berries they purchased were affected? I don't work for the Texas Department of Agriculture, so I'm not claiming any of these is a violation but the lack of transparency could raise consumer protection concerns. At the end of the day I simply believe customers deserve clear information about what they're buying.
