Ok, this will be a weird one.
Siro Wireless is a Plano, TX based company that provides wireless phones and plans to the families of incarcerated folks (felons / people in jail).
Why a company like Siro is necessary is as follows; jails have special phone systems on premise that control who a felon can speak to, in the past the called party (let's say "mama") had to go through an approval process to receive calls on her home phone and the phone system at the jail had a bunch of security features to make sure the felon was really calling and speaking to mama. (There is much more to it than this but I am simplifying).
Siro works with the jails and their phone system to provide the same level or maybe even better level of security to ensure the felon is speaking to mama, but allows mama to receive calls whenever and wherever. Before mama had to be at home say at 5:00 to get a call cause it was on her home phone.
Remember, a felon only speaking to mama is a good thing cause we don't want him calling his homeys in his crew anymore :)
From what I can tell, there are no disadvantages to mama for getting Siro Wireless, she can port her old mobile number to Siro and their plans look closer to "cheap" like a Metro PCS rather than AT&T. There are no hidden fees and it appears as if Siro resells the SPrint network.
So, if you have a relative in the pokey and it looks like they will be there for a while, Siro may be the wireless carrier for you. read more
