The indoor part was closed to the public (don't know for how long...) so it was straight up outdoor dining...which, not to sound like a diva but it didn't sit well for me. Yes it was shaded, but if there's a great view to look at or if they have a bug-killing device (there were several bees and flies out that day) I could settle for outdoor seating. Food was fine and the price was nice (this is a cash-only place by the way so yeah...). They assumed that I was going to take it home so they put everything in a bag. No free refills on soda. It's not really a truck stop, but it is part of a convenience store at a Phillips 66 gas station. The only options for burgers in Waterloo near where we are, are either fast food or Denny's, Applebees, etc. It's a bit of a drive down Rte 3 to Red Bud, but if you want a very good burger at a reasonable price it's worth making the trip.

The young lady provided just the right amount of attention and was super friendly. This place would be an excellent place to frequent if you were a local. I'm an onion ring snob and these were fresh, crispy, and legit. no frozen batter here, and none of that "pull the whole onion out in one bite" nonsense ( I hate that).
