We were picked up at the main dock in town, and took a very short boat ride to the island. We were greeted by two waiters who had hot towels and cocktails ready for us as we pulled in and escorted us to the dining cabin. The executive chef came out to greet us, all by name, and asked us if we had any dietary restrictions. He was prepared to make anything from raw, palio, vegan, vegeterian, etc. The dinner was delicious! The whole experience was very personalized and relaxing. I would highly recommend to treat yourself to a dinner or stay for a special occasion!

And it was my wife's birthday, so I wanted to pick the best for a lunch in town on our cruise stop. And well, she doesn't eat seafood, so she was left to order the Vegetable Barley Soup and the Mac & Cheese so she wasn't thrilled but I've got to say, those two non-fish items were amazing. It would be nice if they offered some other non-fish items. Still, the rest of our seafood eaters loved our dishes. SON OF TIKI DAVE and I shared the Blackened Lingcod Sandwich (with tomato, spinach, horseradish aioli, served on a stadium roll with kettle chips) for $24 as well as the Halibut Roll (Cooked in Butter with Shredded Cabbage, Celery on a Hot Dog Bun and served with Kettle Chips) for $23. The boy preferred the Blackened Lingcod Sandwich and I preferred the buttery Halibut Roll. Man, that Halibut Roll was so awesome! The girl had the Smoked Salmon Plate, served with House Crostini and Cheddar Cheese for $18 and man, that salmon was amazing. We took the leftovers of this and damn it, I left it when the wife and I hit for a Moose Fart afterwards at Ernie's Old Time Saloon (great shot but $10!). Obviously, prices are a little steep...because it's Alaska and well, cruises. But Beak delivers delicious food and the ambiance in an old house is wonderful. They serve local beer as well as wine. Service is refreshingly gratuity free, which is nice. Do know that service in Alaska can vary from great to 'we'll get to you when we want'. Service at Beak was kind of in the middle but that didn't detract from our experience at all. TIKI DAVE HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDS BEAK in Sitka Alaska. Oh! And how you get here...MAKE ABSOLUTE CERTAIN you download a map of Sitka before you step off the ship, if you do come from a ship because cellular service in town really sucks. We asked a tour operator where the restaurant was because we didn't know about the terrible cell service. The location is near the foot of the bridge on the west side of town. And when in Sitka, make sure you walk east to The Sitka National Historical Park, check out the great little free museum at its entrance, and make your way to the Indian River to see the salmon and possibly bears feeding. I am not a huge seafood person, so I was relieved to see they had a few non-seafood options too. We did have to wait about 30 mins outside under their "portico" to get a table. Unfortunately, the only table available was outside, and it was COLD. A few outdoor heaters would make a huge difference. I kept wondering why they didn't have any! - It is ALASKA after all... My friends all ordered the salmon chowder and said it was good, although they wished it had been hotter, especially since we were all sitting outside trying not to freeze. They also thought it could have used a little more flavor, but overall they liked it. I went with the mac and cheese, which was made with bowtie pasta. An unusual choice for mac and cheese, but it worked. It was nothing spectacular, but it was hot, cheesy and comforting, so on a chilly day, that was a big win for me. Service was fast and very friendly, which definitely helped. They also have a small but really cool gift shop, so be sure to take a look before you leave. Overall, a solid stop. I just wish they would add some heaters for those chilly outdoor tables!

They advise you to use a short & gentle 2 finger touch. I didn't touch any of them. Lol! I was just happy to see these colorful creatures walking all over their tank. As you enter, you'll see a large orca skeleton hanging over the tanks. I didn't get a picture of it, but you can see it in the reflection off the touch tanks in some of the videos. I enjoyed seeing the grouchy looking sculpin, as well as the sweet wolf eel named Wanda. She's actually quite adorable until she shows her teeth. What's interesting is that she's not really an eel. She's a fish. She came out of her home to greet me. How sweet! It was also cool to see the colorful rockfish. There's more, but I won't ruin it for you. We didn't get to see the salmon hatchery. We were too early for salmon spawning season. It's a better value to wait until the summer months to see it. The admission price was higher than what has previously been mentioned in reviews. It didn't come with a tour. They offer a behind the scenes tour for an additional charge. The proceeds help to maintain the facilities and programs. Would I visit the aquarium again? Probably not. It's a one-time experience for me. There's a gift shop next door that also houses Ludvig's Chowder Cart. The buildings are located on Sage Beach near the Sea Walk trail. It's a beautiful area!

He wasn't available so he set us up with Captain Aedon and deckhand brother Zander. Aedon picked us up on time with a smile and wonderful spirit. Aedon put us on the fishing spots to catch four King Salmon, one we were able to keep and ship home, one that was too small to keep, and two that I was unable to land :-(. We also caught a large Lingcod and a couple others smaller ones. Captain Aedon and Zander were both open to share so much information about their fishing techniques and the Sitka culture. Amanda from Sitka Point Lodge was excellent as well. She contacted us the day of the charter to get copies of our fishing licenses so she could print them and give them to Captain Aedon with our delicious Sandwiches. Chips, and cookies. We were also provided sodas and waters. She also asked us if we needed rain gear and deck boots. After our trip, Amanda communicated with me to organize the least expensive way to deliver our catch and a couple extras. She went above and beyond to get our fish to us in one day on Alaskan Air Cargo for a reasonable price. What a wonderful experience! Thanks for all the care from the first call to eating our catch im our home kitchen in Southern California.
