Think Anthropologie with a Western flare and elements of Zara built in through their basics selection. As a country girl turned city, I shop designer stores in the Bay Area. I love Sezane, Paige, Anthropologie, etc., but I can often find similar styles and quality at Sitting Pretty. So when I get the chance to drive over to Chowchilla, I definitely do! While designer stores charge $200+ per item, clothing pieces here are $25-45. I'm quite picky because I like sleek, polished looks; clothing that isn't loud, but in its own way is unforgettable. It could be a black top with a scalloped neckline - unique and not something you can easily find elsewhere. Yet soft, comfortable and easy to wash. The customer service here is top notch too. They are so friendly and attentive; always smiling - that good old Valley charm and hospitality you can't quite find elsewhere. I love that I never have to carry my clothes around because they consistently check in with me. You don't have to go to a designer store to receive designer-level customer service or quality clothing. I've definitely gotten many compliments on my clothes and women asking where I bought them. I chuckle and tell them I bought them from this little town called Chowchilla from a boutique called Sitting Pretty. Strange that such a gem exists where no one would ever expect it to, but hoping Sitting Pretty is around for a very long time. Last, but certainly not least, they source their own clothing and they frequently change. So if you like something, buy 2 of them. If you didn't find something you like that day (this never happened to me), come back a different week because all the clothes will be different. read more

My daughter, grandson and I went in today. There were two employees (one old and one younger) behind the counter assisting one customer in the store. They saw us walk in yet did not verbally acknowledge us. We browsed, oohed and ahhed over some of the cute tops, and eventually found ourselves near the front counter. At this point the customer finished and left. Still, no greeting or anything from either employee. There was no one else in the store. After they finished their conversation, the older employee went to the back. We continued shopping until finally I looked up and loudly said to the remaining employee: "Good morning, how are you?". She responded and STILL didn't ask if we needed assistance, if we were finding everything okay, if we had questions about any of their products, or anything! We couldn't believe how unprofessional both employees were. They obviously didn't need our business so we left. We try very hard to support local businesses. But when the employees treat us like we are invisible and aren't good enough to greet us when we enter their establishment or offer shopping assistance, then that business clearly does not want our money. read more

My mom and I came in to look at the store, it was 5:28 and the nice employee working this Monday afternoon saw us hesitating to come in she invited us and stayed past her shift! She is clearly very dedicated and passionate about her job! She lets us see all the great offers there. We will return another time! I'm bummed to write this review, because even though I am from out of town, I have stopped in a few times and it has always been wonderful. I mostly shop via their Instagram, since they are very active. I've had a few purchase via their Instagram go really well! Up until April. Mid COVID panic, stores are selling online and on their social media. I understand things were scary and very uncertain. I messaged inquiring about a skirt. They were prompt in responding saying they had one left in my size! I was super excited and told them that would be great, and then waited for a response. Since I was busy trying to run my own business at the time, I didn't realize that 10 DAYS had gone by. I messaged asking about the skirt. Got a message back saying they sold it, and are working in getting more. I never heard from them again and I've never seen the skirt again. I was very frustrated and I thought it was very rude. Fast forward to yesterday. They have some really cute masks, and I sent another message to their Instagram, asking if they shipped and if so, which ones I liked, and provided an email address to invoice. They have since then seen my message but have not responded. I am so incredibly frustrated by their lack of response and accountability and responsibility for their customers trying to help them keep their business going. read more

Sitting pretty is a very nice boutique located in Chowchilla. The owner Trina is very nice and so helpful when it comes to helping putting an outfit together. This store sells clothing including curvy sizes for some of us curvy women she also has a great assortment of shoes, jewelry and little things to spruce up your outfit. Her prices are reasonable and no matter what when you walk in you will be greeted with a smile by Trina or her staff. I recommend this store to a lot of my friends when they ask where I purchased my outfit or shoes. Keep up the good work Sitting Pretty!!!! read more

I have been coming here for the last year, I spend $150-200 every time I shop here. Usually it's my mother and I. We have always had good luck here, and the owner has always been friendly and helpful. My mom purchased a pair of shoes this last spring, and she took them back. The owner herself said to hold onto them until she received the new shipment. She text my mom saying she received them. My mom text her back saying she will not make it in today, so she text back a week later, and the owner said they sold them. So my mom held onto them. We went in today, and the owner was rude saying she was not going to take them, she doesn't remember any of this. My mom pulled up text messages and she said she could give them to her for half.. She wasn't very nice about it, kept laughing as if we were crazy. Owner also said she sold them for $10 on clearance, according to her Instagram they sold for $19.99 on clearance. We will no longer be shopping here, it's too bad I really loved this place. read more
