Amazing Amazing Amazing All six senses are completely on and happy. Everything here is beyond belief and perfect. I really love everything about this experience. I feel lucky to be here and can't wait to come back!! read more
Beautiful surroundings, but very disappointing. The food and service are just not up to the cost. Prompting "wellness" is not an excuse for serving tasteless food and providing no service. We came a long way to get here so extremely disappointing. If you must, come for one night only. read more
An ultra high-end luxury property with an outstanding view of the Douro River and situated in the midst of vineyards. We stayed for three nights in late September in room 202 paying over €700 per night. Things I liked: -comfortable modern rooms-we had wooden floors and large window facing the forest with peaks of the river -big beautiful outdoor pool with plenty of loungers, a bar and a great view (indoor pool also) -facilities overall from the cozy bar to wine library to terraces with fire pits to fitness center and yoga room and onsite restaurants-this place is well endowed(which is good because it's a bit isolated from the small town of Régua) -our room came with a nice breakfast buffet served in the main restaurant and was available until 11 -front desk staff will arrange transfers to other local restaurant for you in very punctual taxis Opportunities: -I thought the a/c in our room was a bit loud and somewhat rattling and I suspect that the temperature setting on the digital thermostat was fake (as in so many eco-conscious hotels). We like the room cold for sleeping and despite setting it at 17-around 65 F-it never got that cold-probably only around 72-74 F. -prices-as with almost all luxury hotels where we've stayed, you can expect to pay 50-100% more for drinks, food, etc compared to local places. For example all across Portugal glasses of wine were €€5-7 while here €10-20. Despite a few minor flaws, this is an exemplary property with superior service and great creature comforts. Certainly one of the nicest destinations in the Duoro if you can afford the prices. Definitely a splurge. read more

It was such a joy last evening for us to witness a fire that exudes such kindness and warmth, while seemingly natural. Six Senses Restaurant is just that; with the leadership of Chef Nuno, the evening's tour of revisited simplicity proved to be an experience like no other. As Chef's brigade hustled with ease and finesse, right in front of us, Chef Nuno leaned in and offered happiness by virtue of his menu and preparation. As the evening paced itself to a relaxed closing - not one person of the team was flustered, noisy, or disorganized - Chef Nuno led us into a calming dessert course, by passing his torch to the pastry chef. From there, the evening came to a quiet, yet triumphant close. To Start: Cabbage kimchi, botarga Then: Brocolli apple, almond Next: Onion leek, red wine After: Eggplant sweet potato, swiss chard Following: Pike cauliflower, kale Finally: Duck quince, spinach Always: Strawberry pennyroyal, sparkling wine White Chocolate coriander, lemon read more

Nice atmosphere. Good food and service. Expected more from the price. Extremely disappointed that they charged 8 Euros for two rolls that they brought to the table without asking. Portion sizes are large - probably don't need an appetizer or starter with your meal. read more

Food at dinner really needs more work, not up to the standing of the hotel. Location and rooms are fabulous. Pool is gorgeous. read more
