This all changed after I contacted Greg at Built Up Construction. He was polite, down to earth, and very attentive to what I wanted even though I didn't always know how to get there. He guided me through the process and continuously updated me on the progress of the project via pictures, text messages, phone calls, etc. He even sent me a video walk through while they were doing demo so I could see everything they were seeing. To say this was a dream come true would be an understatement. He turned a house that was almost in tear down condition into a beautiful new home. This company brings a completely new meaning to "Buyer Beware". LYING at the closing table, not completing agreed upon repairs (yes, McAlister and the builder are one-in-the-same), and not returning messages to buyers nor their agents. Very unprofessional crooks! It was obvious they sized my husband and I up the moment we walked in the door. We were dressed in jeans, my husband had a baseball cap on...we were dressed for running errands! After looking me up and down she immediately dismissed me, turned her back to me and walked away, and it was obvious I didn't measure up to her standards and when my husband asked a question about the layout of the house, square footage, etc., instead of simply answering the questions she just shoved a brochure at him and refused to answer. Just let me say that we can EASILY afford any of their homes and are possibly interested in building within the next year or two. Although we liked the houses and their layouts we would NOT deal with any of these rude, unprofessional women and will take our business elsewhere.

They'll help find land, or in our case, we found our own land. The cherry on the sundae is the price. Wow!! We never EVER thought we could afford a 3000 square foot gorgeous designer home. Schumacher has buying power, so you can choose any color granite you want (they're all the same price). They use name brand everything. Our contractor running the show is their real gem. Lloyd Cox has at least 1 team doing work every day. Some days I've seen 5 teams working. You can watch them all day if you like. Plus, you can call with questions at any time. Paul Schumacher had an amazing concept of providing "custom", with the buying power of the other national builders. They also guarantee you'll be in your home in 120 days!! Wow. The other cool thing is their showroom which is in one of their model homes. You go in, and in one day, you pick out everything for your home: the siding, shutters, flooring, faucets, fireplace...,etc. If you'd like to find something else....no problem. You aren't under any restrictions. Since I go to the lot every day, I've spoken to every trade partner they use. All the guys have been super nice, very helpful and totally focused on me. I, honestly, can't say enough about this team. We haven't experienced one negative thing. If you're in the upstate of SC or in NC, consider stopping in to their model homes and talk to either Heather or Lisa. These girls know their stuff and help with the initial home concept. This company has won national quality awards and this particular office is always building many homes at once. You'd never know we were in a recession.
