There is plenty of parking available outside. The restrooms are very nice and clean. We visited the bar that is open to the public (until 11) and were impressed with our time there. The staff was very friendly. There are high top tables, shorter tables, comfy chairs and t.v.s to watch any sports games that are on. We enjoyed the atmosphere here and will stop here the next time that we are in town too.

Nicely done gym floor with track around it with marked lanes, fairly large cardio area with at least 10-15 treadmills, 10 elliptical and a handful of Precor machines (I love the Precor). The weights could use some updating. I will say that! They cover all the basics but are outdated. Clean locker rooms. Nice large pool although I didn't go in it. They also have classes but didn't get to one.

Imperial Lanes is located across from Estherville High School (Home of the Mighty Midgets!) and was a place where I bowled during PE and Leagues. I really didn't have a good hook, but this is where I became a better than average bowler. In fact, I still have my original shoes and ball from this era around someplace.

In fact, just outside the door of our family cabin on Big Spirit Lake is part of the Dickinson County Recreational Trails network. These trails wind throughout the Iowa Great Lakes Region and are excellent 4 season avenues for bikers, hikers, runners, cross country skiers and snowmobiles. The Spine trail is 14 miles and I have taken it all the way down on my bike to Milford. And along the way, it's a treat to enjoy the lake scenery, cross the old RR bridge in Arnold's Park, and discover lots of natural habitat. Trail head parking is available at several location, as are resting/viewing benches, information kiosk displays, bathrooms, and picnic areas.

If you're looking for something outside the norm, check out the Scottish Links, the newest course at Brooks. The terrain is gorgeous and pretty different looking, with rolling hills and bent grass fairways. Personally, I like to hit a bucket of balls at the driving range rather than commit to 18 holes. :) I'm also fond of the red Brooks golf carts and a G&T at Bud's Pub after. FYI, Brooks is the only 4 1/2 Star Golf Digest rated course in the Lakes area. Brooks was also named one of the top 5 courses to play in Iowa by Golf Week Magazine.
