Riding in the pulley system to the top of the hill
    Bethany G.

We had a ton of fun with the TubeSlide here! We were 4 adults and 2 kids - 6 years old, and everyone loved it. The hill you go down is long enough and smooth enough. They have a pulley that brings you to the top in your tube, or you can walk. The more fit in our group walked once , and then decided the pulley was the way to go. My only complaint is that the kids working here weren't the most helpful. They had to stop the pulley system more than once for us because it's kind of difficult to get out of the tube fast enough, and each time they made it seem like we had ruined their whole day. They also yelled at me once to hurry and get my tube, while I was literally trying to stand up from tumbling out of the tube. He yelled at me like I had decided to just lay in the snow and take a break. Also, the parking lot was disgusting. We had to thoroughly clean the car the next day. And finally, there's no information about what to do when you get there. There was a very long line to talk to someone, so we waited only to find out there was a machine we could have used because we bought tickets online, but it doesn't say that anywhere. The management and organization/cleanliness leave plenty to be desired, but the tubaslide was great!

    Summer tubing

We love Ski Ward! We've come for snow tubing and tubing in the summer! It's such a great value and close to home. They have full bar and a decent menu. Great for a day out with the kids!

Blowing snow early in the season, it starts as soon as the temps fall!

This is a hidden gem in Shrewsbury - they seem to always have snow even when rain and warm temps have eliminated it all from your yard. Great ski school for the kids, great ski patrol to help if they have any problems. We like to go have a beer and burger on the patio and watch the skiers and snowboarders on the hill. They even host racing a couple nights a week so you can go down and watch the high school race teams. There aren't many of these places around anymore, take advantage of it!

It included an excellent lesson (shout out to my instructor Jason), decent rentals (notably the boots were nice and warm), and access to 2 easy slopes and a lift with 2 green slopes for practice. Once you scan the lift ticket, it's active for 4 hours which is plenty of time to get some skiing in. If you're new to this and want to get good, plan on taking more than one lesson. Not sure if it helps but I'll share my progression over one full day of skiing: It'd been 20 years since I skied, so I joined the morning lesson with the first timers and could ski down the bunny slopes comfortably by the end. I took another lesson the same day and was skiing down the green trails without any issues, although not the most efficiently (skis mostly but not always parallel). The facilities were clean and with everything you might need, hot food, drinks, a store, bonfires, wifi, a decent amount of locker space, and a very large area for rentals. It felt very safe, and everyone I interacted with was friendly. Parking wasn't an issue either. Overall, I enjoyed the lessons and my experience skiing at Wachusett, and I'd definitely go again!

When you drive in to the resort, the Aerial Adventure park is visible right away. When I first saw it, it seemed smaller than I expected and I thought we would be done in a flash. Let me assure you, the aerial adventure course is a LOT more complex than it looks and it was fun and challenging for all of us, from teens to older adults. There are two levels to the course - first you do the lower level and then if you want to try the more challenging higher level you move on to that. Both levels are included in your ticket. Each section of the course is unique: some have zip lines, there are some climbing sections to get from one point to another, some have balance activities, and some rely on strength and ingenuity. Everyone wears a harness, so you are always safe (I did end up dangling a few times and was grateful for the harness!). Staff here is awesome and they train you before you go up into the course. The Mountain Coaster is also fun, although when we went around noon on a summer Friday, we had to wait in line for about 45 minutes to get on. I am a scaredy cat when it comes to roller coasters, but I LOVED the Mountain Coaster, where I go to zip down a mountain surrounded by trees and nature, and I could control the speed. I would love to do this again, but would plan to go earlier in the morning to hopefully avoid the crowds.

This year, we had a ton of snow late Feb and early March, and then lots of warm weather and sunshine before they got here. Being the demented grandma I am, I PAID to go where they make snow. We actually went snowtubing on the very last day of their season. The price was reasonable, if I don't consider how stupid it was to spend all that money for snow at the end of a NE winter. I think about $30 each for a six-pack of kids. I should have brought my rolling walker - the trek from the parking lot was not made for old wrecks like me. They had one tubing area open, with possibly 4 inches of snow and a few bare patches. That's it for my bellyaching. None of my issues were the fault of this property - just a ridiculous situation. Anyway, the staff was absolutely wonderful - friendly, responsive, helpful - just a lovely bunch of people. The kids, who never see any snow, were totally impressed with a patchy 4 inches and must have gone down that hill about 50 times each. They had a wonderful experience despite the circumstances. The facilities, including some food service, were quite nice, and I had to drag my gang away when they were closing. There is absolutely nothing they could have done here on this day to make it any more successful. I know that this seems like left-handed praise, but it isn't. I paid my money and asked for what amounted to a miracle on a warm spring day and got it, accompanied by great, friendly, fun service. The day was fabulous all around.

We've enjoyed two years of ski lessons through our local rec relational department and the kids always have a good time learning to ski for the first time. The instructors are for the most part really great with the kids and patient so the classes can be larger or smaller. They start out assessing the kids by having them go down a bunny hill around cones. Based on their performance, they're put into different groups. They usually start on the bunny hills and then move to the blue trails and lifts and then hopefully onto the black trails. We've done private lessons as well and the one on one was extremely helpful. I highly suggest doing that if you can. They also have outside picnic tables and seating as well as the Outlook restaurant and lounge with full service and bar with a nice view in the mountain. They also have fried dough, a crêpe truck, vending machines. They always have something going on with a fun vibe: one year we saw a group of pandas skiing around the resort, outdoor grilling hotdog and hamburgers, sometimes they have jumps and moguls set up, etc. they also have events during the summer as well. Dining on the mountain was easier, being able to get food in the lodges. I know lodges can be expensive in general, but Stratton took it to a new level. We paid $20 for a tiny, plain kids cheeseburger which was too awful to eat. Oh and the gondola was broken down so there was no direct lift to the summit. It also was the most hiking I've ever had to do while skiing- lots of flat and up hill parts. We paid a lot of money for an experience that wasn't matched in quality. I also signed my son up for an insanely expensive ski lesson which they started a half hour late due to faulty fire alarms going off in their check in area. We had a bad experience last year in 2025 with severe overcrowding and a worker being physically and verbally aggressive with teenage members of our party, as well as swearing in front of six year olds. The company responded and gave us passes to come back this year. We went last night, 2/14/26. This was by far our worst experience. By the time we got there for our allotted time, 6-8pm, the hill was overcrowded. There was no tube left for my husband, so he sat out. When you got to the top of the hill, the lines were all the way back to the tree line. It was difficult to navigate to get in line. My brother timed a full cycle of getting in line to getting to the bottom of the hill, and it was 35 minutes, so you could get 3 slides if you were lucky. The rules were inconsistent with the workers. There were only 2 workers that I could see. They let a couple people ride tied together, and others were not allowed to. The hill was over- iced. Due to there not being a worker at the bottom, a grandmother and granddaughter were run over by a tuber, leading to a head and face injury. At one point they closed the last 3 lanes. Kids and adults came flying down, 6 at a time in each lane. No care or concern for safety. My son was stuck at the top while kids and adults cut in front of him to go down. This place has plummeted downhill. This used to be an amazing, family friendly, SAFE tubing experience. Based on the last two years here, I would never recommend this establishment to anyone.

Signing up was easy and I scooted off to wait for my session. Although I was put into an adult group, no adults showed up for beginner lessons and I teamed up with a really cool 6-year-old girl. So my Yelp tip here is to bring a friend if you're uncomfortable learning alongside the tykes. My instructor, Larry, was great and gave equal attention to both me and the nugget. He showed us the basics and was very supportive of our trial and error. I felt it was a great base foundation.
