Beginner review: If you're new to skiing, I'd highly recommend the beginners package (~$150) which honestly was totally worth the price tag. It included an excellent lesson (shout out to my instructor Jason), decent rentals (notably the boots were nice and warm), and access to 2 easy slopes and a lift with 2 green slopes for practice. Once you scan the lift ticket, it's active for 4 hours which is plenty of time to get some skiing in. If you're new to this and want to get good, plan on taking more than one lesson. Not sure if it helps but I'll share my progression over one full day of skiing: It'd been 20 years since I skied, so I joined the morning lesson with the first timers and could ski down the bunny slopes comfortably by the end. I took another lesson the same day and was skiing down the green trails without any issues, although not the most efficiently (skis mostly but not always parallel). The facilities were clean and with everything you might need, hot food, drinks, a store, bonfires, wifi, a decent amount of locker space, and a very large area for rentals. It felt very safe, and everyone I interacted with was friendly. Parking wasn't an issue either. Overall, I enjoyed the lessons and my experience skiing at Wachusett, and I'd definitely go again! read more

Awful customer service! Will never go back. We went for years prior to this experience. The mountain was jam packed and making snow when we went with a party of 8. We took one lift and the snow conditions were terrible. They were making snow late in the season and there were mounds in the middle of the trails with countless people falling. Customer service promised us comped tickets for next time we returned. I emailed a man named Chris Stimpson. He confirmed the 8 lift tickets to be comped on our next visit. When we reached out the next season to receive the tickets Chris told us they would not be honored despite sharing the emails. Best time ever! It was my first time snowboarding in 20 years and I took my kids. We got the package of three people with lessons gear rental and a four hour lift pass. I got paired with some other people who hadn't snowboarding in 20 to 25 years. It was nice to have a small group and a refresher before hitting the slopes. By the end of the day, my kids were having such a great time and it was their very first time snowboarding. The mountain was safe, the staff was friendly and accommodating for our first time. The food inside is a little pricey, but well worth it when you're cold and hungry. There's a nice fire outside to thaw out and dry out your gloves and any gear that gets wet. It's a fun, friendly family feel. People leave their gear and bring picnics, I felt safe there. read more

Wachusett's Resort is the closest mountain to Rhode Islanders who wish to ski. It is beautiful both in the winter and summer, for skiing and hiking. However, the peaks are rather small and, if you're an advanced skier or snowboarder, this mountain is not for you. Definitely a good place for beginners to learn how to ride, but for the real mountains I would recommend Killington or anywhere in VT! read more

Enjoyed skiing here this past week. Quite a bit of options for trails. Check in process was absolutely efficient. No long lines whatsoever as it's just a scanning process and it spits your ski card out. I rented the gear: skis, poles, helmet and goggles. Goggles are first come first serve. Arrive early or be prepared to bring a pair of goggles with you. Otherwise you'll have to buy them at their store. Overall I did enjoy my time here! The cafeteria for quick food was reasonably priced. Hot chocolate was actually quite delicious as well. Definitely recommend this area for skiing if you're in the area! read more

I would give it zero star if there's the option! Staff are VERY rude! DO NOT CONSIDER THIS PLACE. I called them a week earlier saying I've never been there and want to get more details, they never told me there's different session tickets. And never told me foot traffic is not allowed on bunny slopes. We are beginner parents bringing our toddler with us, so we obviously cannot snowboard down with our toddler. We got there and we had to take shuttle from parking lot to the lodge, the tickets and rental payments are done in one place and the rental is a different shack (ski and snowboard have their own shacks). The rental place smells awful! My husband even got a pair of WET booths that smelled like shit. This place is super crowded and small and not clean! Staff and managers are ridiculously rude! DO NOT GO THERE and save yourself some sanity and peace. read more

Last weekend, my daughters skis/poles were taken, but we were reunited with them after a swift investigation. We immediately reported our concern to the information desk and our case was handled by Jim with extreme professionalism and empathy. She was put on rental skis asap to not miss one run! Same said for first impression when arriving the mountain, with amped kids in tow. Rental area and staff are efficient and helpful. Tickets are easier to pick up than a mobile order at Starbucks, thanks to a machine that reads the barcode and spits them out. You're out on the lifts and trails in record time. 3. The employees and management are available, approachable and KIND at every turn. As in even the owners are there, managing every last detail. I reserved a lift pass at this area for $97, which is not a fortune but still not an inconsiderable sum. Due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances, i was unable to use this pass. In good faith, I requested a refund, but in multiple interactions with area representatives, was flatly denied. Now, in my understanding, taking money from a subject without ever returning any goods or services to said subject is known as fraud. This is what happened to me in my most recent interaction with Wachusett. I have been there before, and I can say without a doubt that, in light of their lame, boring ski trail and park terrain, and despite their feeble attempts to supplement the almost non-existent local snowfall by plastering over all the visible brown spots with artificial man-made ice, the rates they are currently trying to charge for the facetious hypothetical 'privilege' of falling down their frozen strips of white within the sable sepia russet ocher toned umber earthen surroundings smacks of nothing less than highway-robbery. For shame! Shame upon those soulless greedy charlatans dedicated to ripping you off in the name of what had been imagined and what was once an uncomplicated family diversion, skiing. And far greater shame falls on those materialistic avaricious grasping covetous philistine operators who would fraudulently bilk the general public as well as myself of our pecuniary assets all in the name of 'consistency' in enforcing a 'no-refunds' policy; a policy dedicated to unfairly separating those of us who work for a living from our money. My request was in no was unreasonable; I just wanted to be refunded for never-used services. This is something enshrined in the American ethos, that we citizens ought not to be forced to pay for stuff we never used, if we return that stuff in unused condition. What an incredible place. I took my daughter out for her first ride. I did not have the right equipment to be on the mountain. Glen, from the ski school, could have ended my little girls first time by asking me to leave the hill. Instead he walked me into the rental shop and hooked me up with a rental setup, asked one of the instructors to give me any pointers, and reinstalled my hope in humanity. Because of Glen, we finished the most epic first day a little girl could have hoped for. Also check out identity coffee!!! They roast their own beans and they def. Know what they are doing! Plus the chicken salad is huge and delicious. I moved to TN for the past decade. Wachusett always has great ski conditions due to snowmaking and grooming expertise. They have a variety of terrain for every level if skier. Their food is always good and all ages enjoy their eating areas which are for fast food or specialty dishes in the restaurant with great view of trails read more

I enjoy skiing at smaller, ski areas that aren't overly corporate. I usually ski in New Hampshire and particularly enjoy Gunstock. Today was my first experience at Wachusett. We had a big snowfall earlier in the week and I thought I would try Wachusett instead of Gunstock and save an hour driving each way from the Boston suburbs. I went on a bitter cold Friday afternoon. Wachusett is a very nice ski area. The lodge is attractive with plenty of places to gear up and stash your street clothes. The employees I spoke to were pleasant. I don't think they have a problem with bringing your own food. A chocolate chip cookie was $5 but it was big fresh and tasty. The hill was well groomed with some plenty of interesting blues and easy blacks. As a senior I appreciated the discounted lift tickets. The weekday lifts line were trivial or non existent. As I was leaving at 330 pm I saw that legions of school kids were arriving by bus. I'm glad that the kids have a safe fun place to play but I'm sure the that vibe might change from chill to mongol hoard after school! All in all a great experience and I'm sure I will return. Some quirks worth noting. The blues and blacks are served by adjacent high speed lifts that serve different but neighboring parts of the hill. It seems like by design it is very difficult to get from the service area of the polar lift to the minute man and vice a versa without skiing uphill. Kind of weird since I think most skiers want to ski the whole mountain and not many like skiing uphill. There doesn't seem to be a convenient drop off area for gear near the lodge. There aren't any clocks in the lodge or near the lifts. This is super weird because they sell passes that expire at specific times. Without clocks it makes hard to figure out how much time you have left without taking your gloves off and digging your phone out and it would be easy to have a clock visible by lift bases. read more

Great day at Apple Fest on the mountain today. We had to park in an overflow lot and had the choice of a 15 minute uphill walk or we could wait for a bus-we chose to wait for the bus. Parking was quick and the busses and shuttles were fast. Bathrooms were clean and the vendors were great. The chair lift ride was fantastic. Had a great day! read more

Best beginner and intermediate ski and snowboard area if you don't want to drive to New Hampshire, Vermont, or Maine. Super cheap, amazing snowmaking and is almost never icy. Ski rental equipment is very good. You go onto the website to book and they give you a barcode to scan, then you just go there, scan it, and they give you all your gear. Easiest and fastest rentals in the Northeast. Best ski school area with amazing instructors. The greens are great for beginners and the blues are fun. Only drawback is the blacks. They are ok but if you are super aggressive you will have a better time at Killington. read more

My friend raved about this place and I decided to join him on a skiing adventure! I was impressed to see the crowds of people in the mountain. Tickets must be purchased ahead of time online and when you get to the register you present your phone and they just ask for the order code. If you rent the equipment as I do, they give you two pieces of paper and are told to go to the building next door. When you get there you enter the two codes in the computer (1-ski and boots, 2- helmet). The computer then prints a sticker and you take it to an actual human for the equipment. One side note is that the compute era don't have hand sanitizer and I didn't see anyone disinfecting the stations. While there I warmed up in the bunny slope and spent most of my time in the two green sections which are big. However they don't have many greens to practice on and this was a bummer. I rate my experience three stars because they can do better with COVID guidelines such as hand sanitizer and enforcing social distance at the ski lift lines. The staff are great, epically the instructors. The food is really overpriced but tastes good. The mountain did rectify our experience, but I still felt the need to share our interaction with the staff. We went to one of their fall festivals earlier this month, as we usually do. It took over an hour to get to the lots, they had no staff or even police directing traffic down the street. Once we got in they had packed thousands of people into the event and it was a miserable experience.. we had driven over an hour to get there too.. It was a beautiful day too so we felt like we wasted our afternoon. A staff member inside the event said they had sold 4,000+ pre-sale and still sold tickets that day and they were completely overwhelmed. Towards the end of the event, I tried to reasonably express our disappointment with the ticket office on the over-crowding and asked if we could come back the following weekend (since they were hosting the same event 2 weeks in a row) without paying the entry fee again. Not only did the girl at the desk yell at me for even insinuating that this would constitute giving me a refund, she got her manager who doubled down and called the staff "a bunch of liars who should've kept their mouths shut" when I mentioned the staff actually working inside the event felt it was overwhelmingly packed. I tried to say we were willing to come back the next weekend and spend our $ inside to which she said absolutely not and demanded we go back inside and "enjoy the last 40 minutes of the event", even though she was on her way out the door to go home early too.. which we didn't want to even try so we could to avoid the traffic jam that was probably looming once the event officially ended. On our way back to the car we decided that even though we loved coming here in the past, there was no way after that interaction with multiple employees of apparently high rank we'd come back. Can't imagine how the staffs treated if they get called liars to patrons either.. The mountain clearly had others that were as frustrated as us, since they had posted on their social media a few days later that they in fact WOULD offer refunds or free entry to people who felt they didn't get to enjoy and rectified the situation. I reached out and did receive a refund and am glad they actually seem to value their customers' opinions, cause it certainly didn't feel that way at first. read more

Wachusett is an underrated mountain with 1000 vert, some good steeps, varied terrain including moguls and some trees, and the best value and customer service of any ski area anywhere. Any real skier will appreciate what Wachusett brings to the table. Exceptional family and teaching slopes. Plenty of draw for the best skiers. Great for client entertaining. Yeah, this is a thing I review now, apparently. I'm giving this 4 stars strictly because it's ~1 hour away from Boston. It's not quite a mountain, more of a large hill, but it fits the bill for a simple, reasonably-priced ski trip. Everything's in pretty good shape, and when I've been there it hasn't been an insane wait. It's a single peak so it's kind of a hard to mess this up. Definitely worth a trip if you don't feel like hustling up North. read more

I pondered long and hard whether to ding Wachusett, a ski mountain I like and will continue to visit. What's my beef? I received a $200 gift card ten Christmases prior, which I lost in a move (my bad), and then found at the bottom of a box of papers which I almost threw out. I pleaded with management, but they wouldn't even give a penny on the dollar in discounts. Of course Wachusett has a right not to honor the gift card. So, is it fair for me to give them a 1-star review when it's their policy? Can I justly criticize them for not giving me a break? I honestly struggled over this. But then the light dawned: I realized Wachusett pocketed $200...for NOTHING. So, I imagine paying $200 for this tiny morsel of justice, because in all honesty, as a small-business owner myself, I would *NEVER* treat a customer this way, rule or no rule. read more

I am extremely disappointed in Wachusett this year. Way to use COVID as an excuse to get more money.... except they aren't following COVID procedures. The lines were ridiculously long, and absolutely no social distancing happening AT ALL. Additionally, people are wearing their masks however they damn please, and no workers are asking them to fix them. You'd think with making people buy the $60 tickets for three hours only would been a smaller capacity and smaller crowd. Nope. It was the busiest I've EVER seen it. In the 3 hours we got to ski, we only went on 4 runs because the lines were so long. I get being busy on the weekends, but there's no excuse for the lack of COVID safety. I'm surprised they haven't been shut down yet. I'm sorry Wachusett, but we will never be back. read more

It was always a pleasure to take a ride here, and hit the slopes. It's great family fun, and accommodating to a range of riders from beginner to advanced. They made it effortless to get out there as soon as you arrived. So, what's the problem? There wasn't one, until COVID. Now, their prices have increased to nearly $70 for 3 hour sessions that is realistically like an hour. I've come here 2 times this season; a Friday 1230-4 and a Sunday 730-12 I believe. Understandably I came on the more busy days, however they need to restrict their capacity if they are going to increase prices, and shorten their ride times. It's expensive enough to ski, and from the look of their crowds, I can't imagine them hurting for money. Also, COVID distancing needs to be reinforced. There wasn't 6 feet's apart in these lines. Now, just imagine full lines with people close together? Way too many people. read more

Their COVID policy is beyond greedy and into irresponsible. They are selling way too many tickets for the reduced lift capacity, resulting in extremely long lift lines. In addition, they are grossly overcharging for each short session. In a three hour session we were only able to take 4 runs. In addition to being a bad experience for their customers, this isn't safe, as people are packed in tight lines for long times. The line was so long people couldn't distance without having the line going up the mountain. There were long lines for food, long lines for ticket pickup, long lines for lifts. I'm not sure what it would take for them to stop selling tickets, because last night was a cluster F under normal circumstances, let alone within a pandemic. I'd rather not ski than spend of my time standing around waiting. I can't believe people are willing to pay for this experience. I hope their exploitation of COVID for profit results in their long term loss of business. I will NEVER come back. read more

The lesson I paid for was abusive. None of instructors were excited to go out with me. They "hot potatoed" me to the Asian instructor, who despite everything I tried was difficult to understand. I was nice at first but then realized that the smiling was mistaken for agreement and the man wasn't listening to me AT ALL. They wouldn't listen to me to assess my skill level. Spent 25 minutes on the bunny slope proving to them I had had a few lessons previously. Just a waste. The lessons are for babysitting children. Send your kids if you want to hit the slopes solo. Not for adults seriously trying to improve. Avoid if you can. Big regret wasting the couple days I had in the area at this place. read more

This is my home mountain and I love it here. Only 1.5 hrs from Boston with night skiing until 10 pm. I get the Bronze pass which includes all weekdays and night skiing on weekends which start at 4 pm. The bar and restaurant is awesome wit great beers on tap. They have an annual ski swap where I got a decent price on my old equipment. Got a good 20 days here last season and improved my skiing tremendously. read more

My friend and I decided to try skiing for the first time in awhile. Wachusett was a great place to go! We bought the beginner package online, which came with rentals, a day lift pass, and an hour and a half mini lesson. The package was $99, but it's $5 off if you buy it online ahead of time. You can also get another $5 off if you have AAA. The package was definitely worth the money. Our instructor for the lesson was fantastic. I wish I could remember her name. You could tell she really wanted everyone to learn the right way while also staying safe. She even took the time to find out where we were from and learn about us. We visited on a Monday morning/afternoon. There were a lot of people there but we didn't have to wait in any lines for the rentals or to get on the lifts. Everything was super organized. All of the other visitors were also super friendly and some offered tips (maybe because we looked like we needed it). The staff in the rental area was also really great, offering to help with sizes and tightening our ski boots. I'll definitely be back since it's only a little over an hour drive. Don't forget to get a snack from Waffle Cabin! My only complaint is it's super difficult to get in touch with them by phone. I've called several times with questions or because I left something at the ski area. I wait on hold forever, or leave a voice message but don't get any call back. read more

We were supposed to go somewhere else closer but my bfs friend has a cabin close by so we decided to just meet them in there. Turned out to be really nice and fun. Went there on the New Year's Eve and they had fireworks at night that day which was perfect! I went snow tubing with his mom and him and he went snowboarding by himself. He had a lot of fun and so did me and his mom. The slope of the tubing wasn't that long so it wasn't that exciting, which it was longer. They had bars and restaurant, there's also a cafeteria that you can just grab and go while you are there. In the lounge area they have some fire places which was cute and makes you warm after going out the freezing mountains. We had a blast that night and would love to try something else next time! read more

The mountain is lovely, convenient location, quick drive from anywhere in Southern New England. However, the process of buying lift tickets is virtually impossible and extraordinarily frustrating! Two hours later I now own 5 lift tickets for the family only to learn that the lessons are now sold out for the same day. I am not sure when the family can get together again on the same day and they have a firm no refund policy even though I called 3 times asking for help. They've made it so hard to get on the mountain and so inflexible with their policies I don't know if I can ever go back, it's actually impossible to book a family trip there now. Shame. read more

Had a great day at wachusett today with 18 inches of fresh powder. No ice anywhere. The school buses to the slopes were purposely not very populated. Everyone had masks on and skis naturally distance people from each other. The views from the mountains are really incredible if you have never been here it's very beautiful.
