I left with the understanding that the clinic would be reaching out to St. Michael's for a date to preform the surgery. I finally called the clinic back on Jan 12, 2026 since I had not heard back from them. I was told that the St Michael's anesthesiologist had stated "due to my past history and current health issues" I was unable to go under anesthesia. You can only image how upset I was; since I know of no reason I'm unable to go under anesthesia. So, I made an appointment the next day with my referring doctor. When I got to that appointment, she showed me the report she received from Dr Sherris, dated Dec 19th, that clearly shows it was his decision, not St. Michael's. I made another appointment with him on Jan 28th. The appointment was at 2:15. I didn't see him until almost three. I confronted him about not informing me he had changed his mind and did not have the curtesy to call me and inform me. He said he thought the referring physician would tell me. Now, since he told me one thing and her another thing; how would she know he changed his mind; and why would it be her responsibility to inform me of anything? Then, when I told him his staff had lied to me about the anesthesiologist at St Michael's; he proceeded to tell me "I'm sure they just misinterpreted what I wrote". I had actually called twice that day. The second time they stated emphatically that it was St Michael's that had made the decision. Then, Dr. Sherris stated that in order for him to do my surgery; I'd need a report from my primary physician that I'm healthy enough to have the surgery. His concerns, according to what he told me are: I have a fatty liver and Lupus. Since I've had those for years and have had much more detailed and longer surgeries in the past two years--I find this total BS. I'm requesting a referral to a different podiatrist.

I was extremely frustrated with the major Healthcare system of big corporations such as "St. Vincent" hospital, and "The Doctors Clinic" I hadn't had medical care in many many years when I first came to Dr. Esser, to say I needed more than OBGYN care would be an understatement. Esser really takes a holistic healing approach to health. She guided me through many medical situations, helped me with my overall health, diet, nutrition, vitamins for overall well being. She is a problem solver. She puts real time into solutions varying dosages of medications until we have the right outcome. She is also an incredible surgeon. At 35 years old I was in need of a total hysterectomy- She called me from her home over the weekend to check on me. I called in December as a returning patient after two years, and I was told the next available appointment would not be until May. I asked if I could be placed on a cancellation or waiting list for anything sooner, but they told me no. On the day of my appointment, I arrived 30 minutes early to the office I had previously visited, only to find out the provider had moved to Gig Harbor. I immediately called the office, but they do not speak directly with patients, only through text messaging. I explained that I was already on my way and would only be about 10 minutes late due to the address confusion. Instead of trying to accommodate me, they told me I would need to reschedule all the way until August and then charged me a $100 no-show fee. When the appointment reminder was sent, I did not notice the new address, but after waiting five months for an appointment, I do not believe this situation was handled fairly or professionally. Charging a long-term returning patient a no-show fee under these circumstances feels unreasonable and shows a lack of compassion and flexibility toward patients.

Unfortunately, my experience over the last few years changed my opinion of the practice. A few years ago, the clinic switched to a membership model that required patients to pay approximately $300 per year just to remain a patient. That decision created a major issue with my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance, which would no longer work with the clinic under that arrangement. As a result, I was forced to change my health insurance just so I could continue seeing my primary care physician after more than a decade as a patient. Even after paying the annual membership fee, I only saw my doctor once or twice a year for routine checkups. Paying hundreds of dollars every year simply for the privilege of remaining a patient never made sense to me. The final straw was how my billing was handled. The clinic stopped collecting my approximately $40 copay at the time of each visit and instead mailed me a bill afterward. I admit that I should have paid those bills when I received them. That's on me. However, according to the letter I received from the clinic, they had become frustrated that they had to call me to collect payment for these balances. From my perspective, it was confusing because these were small balances that could have easily been collected while I was standing at the front desk, as many medical offices routinely do. It seems like collecting the copay during the visit would have been easier and less expensive than mailing statements and making collection calls. I'm not sure why this became such a significant issue when it could have been avoided by simply collecting the payment at check-in or check-out. Instead of working with me to resolve the issue after 12 years as a loyal patient, the clinic chose to terminate our relationship. That was extremely disappointing. I have since learned that the practice was sold. Looking back, the move to a mandatory membership model felt like the practice became more focused on revenue than on maintaining long-term relationships with established patients. Whether or not that was the intention, that's certainly how it felt as someone who had been a loyal patient for over a decade. I hope other patients carefully consider whether paying an annual membership fee is worthwhile, especially if they only need routine preventive care. I also hope Washington continues to monitor concierge-style medical practices to ensure they remain transparent and patient-focused. After 12 years, I expected better communication, more flexibility, and a greater appreciation for patient loyalty.

As explained in phone call I got 2 weeks before my blood work appointment. Now on top of copay out of pocket there is a yearly charge of $250 broken into monthly payments. And I was almost 3 months behind and would need to pay up to date to be seen. Never received paperwork, email etc. My insurance did not cover office visits as Dr Gross was out of network so I had to pay $200+ out of pocket.... Now add on $250. I can't afford it so asked for a reference, (just like I got from UW) the office called and said there are no primary care providers available in the area. Well, Dr. Morgan, isn't like anyone I've ever been to, FIRST, she came out and said that after three visits for the same thing if she hasn't fixed me, she'll refer me out. Second, I work crazy hours and she is willing to work around them and find a time that works for me and her to make sure I can be seen when I do need it. Also, she adjusts way differently from how I have ever been adjusted, it's not a 10 minute jump on you crack crack crack adjustment, she'll crack you but it's by you using your muscle manipulation and getting the nerves involved, it's intense, and you'll feel it. She takes my insurance and she's easy to talk to. Not your typical chiro office or practice, but I feel at home here, even with the Cross-Fit gym shouting next door. Yes, there is a Cross-Fit gym right next to the office and it's not exactly LOUD, but if you're expecting an office with an old man with Enya playing in the background, this isn't it. If you're expecting a Dr. that truly knows what she is doing, is honest, fair, and works with you. This is the place.
