Been coming here since I was a kid. Love the mountain and coming up with family friends makes this an amazing experience.

Lots of thumps and bumps could be heard as the tour guy gave us insight into the past treatments for mental health with a few surprises along the way. A bit scary at times, especially down in the cellar, in total darkness I could feel the heat from my own breath deflect back onto my face as if someone was standing up close in front of me. That was unnerving! Laura was very open about her experiences. Thanks Laura for a good experience.

Kane and Jerry were amazing tour guides, did a great job of managing the 26 people in this tour. We spent 2 nights at the Discovery Resorts close to Kings Canyon. The Rim Walk at Kings Canyon was spectacular- especially the North side. We then spent 2 nights at Sails in the Desert so we could access all there was close to Uluru. At each stop with a hike, they offered 2 options depending on how you were feeling that day. There were several stops to view areas of interest. We went to a couple of nighttime events. They had so much lined up for us. The only reason I took off one star was because at some of the locations where we were passing through, the prepared lunches were really not that good. I would have gladly paid a bit more for a more appetizing meal. But I would certainly travel with them again as they did such a good job of curating the best adventures.

FCCC, Falls Creek Country Club, commands attention as you approach the village on Bogong High…read morePlains Road. It's one of the first buildings you see and with its 6 floors stands tall... in a village full of not-so-tall buildings. It comes with three huge advantages. First, The Gully chairlift runs right next to it. In a good season it doesn't matter so much because you can ski/board down the actual streets right to the rear door of FCCC and step off your board and inside. In a bad season the streets may not be skiable but the run under the chair lift will maintain some snow so that you can at least ski to the low side of FCCC and then just walk up some steps to your digs. Second, whilst you don't have to use the FC oversnow taxi service, it's far easier to pay and go rather than drag all your stuff to your accommodation, but like everything it doesn't come cheap. Because FCCC sits by the main road with a driveway leading to its entry doors you don't need to use oversnow - in fact you can drive right to their door, unpack, then drive your car to the car park afterwards. Third, and still rare in this day and age, they offer free WI-FI which works okay. They have a number of accommodation options, to suit anything from two to 12 people, on the front/balcony side and on the rear, with prices that reflect this as well as creature comforts. There are 2 storage rooms/areas as well as drying cupboards in all apartments. There is a restaurant with quite reasonable food options and a pool/spa/sauna open till 8pm. The apartments are in good condition, although simple and dated, and management quite approachable with any issues. Returning guests get 5% off their rates and for those requiring hire there's a hire shop just a 2 minute walk away at Central Sports.

Also, it seems that many of the sites have pretty decent shade. It would, however, be nice to have more refrigerator and BBQ areas around the park.

The property has three cottages and we stayed in The Haven, which is located at the back of the property literally a stones throw from the river and walking. The owners were fantastic - friendly, informative and accommodating (we stayed an extra night and they did their best to prevent us from moving into another cottage!) The cottage was spotless and very well decorated. The Haven is the most private of the 3 with a little patio at the back for BBQ'ing when the weather is warmer. There is a large spa bath located in the bedroom - perfect for relaxing and warming up. My wife and I were highly impressed and have no hesitation in revisiting. We were fortunate to take advantage of a spring deal which made it extremely worthwhile!
Clean, modern, reasonably priced motel near the centre of Bright. The quality and friendliness of…read morethe service was excellent. We had booked for two nights (Friday and Saturday) for a weekend of skiing up at Mt Hotham. At check-in, the lady at the front desk gave us very useful information about the road condition and suggested that we may struggle to get back down the mountain if we made it up the Saturday morning - she said if that was the case, that she wouldn't charge us and recommended we take our belongings with us if we decided to make the trip (Mt. Hotham had just been hit with 2 ft of snow and the access roads had been closed for several hours). We took her advice and she turned out to be spot on - we ended up staying in Dinner Plain for our second night. We phoned the Motor Inn and it was not a problem for them. A few days later, I received a receipt in the mail along with a nice hand written note thanking us for our stay. Great, genuine friendly service is hard to beat. Room was spacious and fairly recently renovated and there is a nice pool in the middle of the complex. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced motel in the Bright / Harrietville area.

Prices are higher than the average low-end bar, but they are also up the top of a mountain so this is understandable. They hare some standard beers on tap, and the kitchen can put together some pretty large burgers as well. Not bad for an afternoon drink in the snow :)

I didn't want to slap together a few words of encouragement and leave it at that... I want to convey to you just how wonderful this place is. The first thing that strikes you about the Velo Bright is how much it seems to offer in such a small area. Renovated and expanded this place is warm, stylish and inviting. We were given a code (ala AirBnB style) and this gave us 24 hour access to the building and our room. Nice and easy. Our first room (more on that later) was small but functional, warm and very stylish. But it was the bathroom and shower that blew us away and you will be no different. No picture will do this shower justice and it is very clear that a lot of care and attention has been poured into the design and finish of this boudoir. Flourishes like tiles that extend up the wall and over your head, clearly not necessary, make it obvious that this was designed to be enjoyed and as well as be functional. We made our way to the bar and was struck by how warm and cosy it was what with its use of wood and exposed beams. The beautiful open fire and plush furnishings also helped us enjoy a beer that was, after a long drive, essential. It was then we were approach by the manager who, seemingly for no reason, offered to upgrade our room simply because we were the only guests that night. This second room was much larger with a living area as well as bedroom but an even bigger version of the incredible shower from the previous room. This room went onto enhance an already wonderful experience. Dinner at the restaurant was very since and the staff friendly and accomodating. But it was when we went to leave that the bar manager struck up a conversation that lead him to open the whisky bar - just for us - so we could enjoy a whiskey in private. The staff at the Velo are friendly and make you feel at home and while it could be argued this is what they are supposed to do, it is their flexibility and imagination that make this a very special place. They go outside the square to give you the best possible stay whether that be for one night or ten. I would happily drive to Bright just to stay there again... it really was that special.
