This place is awesome. My boyfriend treated me to a spa day there. Had a great massage by Tom and a wonderful facial from Shelia. They were very friendly. They have this cool infared sauna. I've never been in one before, this was really really cool (warm actually) I got some good products too that they make. I have known Sheila and Tom for almost close to a decade now. I've learned so much about my skin from Sheila and about the fact that old school WORK ETHICS still exists in this world. So much so is my trust in her that she now takes care of my 13 year old son's skin (sensitive skin and eczema since he was 6 weeks old). Honestly, I read this B.S. about the location, and all I hear is Miami pretentious crap! It's about quality and true care for your clients needs what's going on here people! Love Sheila! She absolutely changed my skin. I came to her looking for a solution for my cystic acne and 8+ years later I still have clear skin. She is a true professional and is so knowledgeable. Her products are also amazing and she does not push them on you. I can't say enough good things about her and her services. And to the person who suggested that people are getting paid to post positive reviews you are clearly miserable. Just because you did not have a memorable experience don't make it look like others didn't. You can't make everyone happy all of the time. I appreciate a negative review about a business but actually claiming that others are getting paid is ridiculous. Initially I called looking for a school to get a cheap facial. When I spoke to Shiela, she convinced me to come in for a facial. Since than, I have been coming here for years. Even when I moved to 4 hrs away, I used to drive here just for a facial. Shiela will educated you about your skin, food intake, etc. She will than give you a goodie bag before you leave with products which will last you for about 2-3 weeks. The prices are very reasonable. Ive been going here for my facials for over 9 years and since i moved to san francisco, i made an extra effort to have a facial here again while in town. As always, they didnt disappoint. My husband and i were both treated to the best facials weve had in a long while. I have been going to this hidden gem for years. They recently revamped the entire spa and it looks wonderful! I went to Skin Institute bc my cousin recommended the spa and God I am so thankful I met the owner Sheila. I live in NYC but i vacation in Miami at least 5x a year and Sheila saved my skin! I cannot thank the staff at Skin Institute enough! I have sensitive skin and I very hesitant to have anyone touch let alone work on my skin but Sheila truly is a miracle worker. She started out with a basic mircoderm -she told me everything she was doing any why. She didn't push any products (but i ended up with a cleaners and moisturizer to start) and i went back 5 days later and did a fancy mask treatment. Little tricky to get inside. Once you get in there the place is great!:) Wonderful very knowledgeable staff who have trained other aestheticians. Sheila and Tom are very nice. you can tell they love what they do. i ended up getting a regular facial with a mandelic peel (which is great) & didnt burn or anything, I've also gotten the mesotherapy treatment and my skin feels great! I've heard MANY good reviews on them from people that i know. if you have anything wrong with your skin or you just want something anti aging, this is the place! i will keep going back for sure! Sheila is the absolute best to go to for all of your skin care needs.i had not been to her in ages and decided I was due for a facial before the year ended.If you don't go to the right place for extractions,you can end up with scars on your face but not here! When I got out I wasn't swollen or red at all and the next morning my skin was glowing. These great reviews can not be real. I got a facial and micro-dermabrasion for my husband and I. Not only was it painful but we left with our face looking like we had chicken pox. I've had tons of facials and never came out looking like that. I should have known better once I pulled up to that ugly broken down building. I had a citrus scrub and body wrap at the Skin Institute and, based on the glowing reviews I read, I was expecting good things. Unfortunately my experience did not live up to my expectations. Perhaps the institute is best for facials, because the scrub was very disappointing. Maybe it was my mistake because I preferred a female technician. I think she was a facialist because this was not an exfoliating scrub, but rather a soft, gentle, quick massage. When my back was to be done, rather than turning over on my stomach, I had to sit up for the quick, cursory back once over. I could not really tell the difference between the scrub and the shea butter applied after the scrub. Also I was disappointed that the 60 minutes included the 15 minutes in the sauna and the 15 minutes in the wrap. Perhaps, if you are going to try the scrub, you should stick with the male technicians if you are comfortable with that. I purchased this through Groupon, and truly it was not worth the $29 + $18 tip. Though the hallway of the building has a strong musty/mildew odor, it is not noticeable once you enter the spa which is very clean (though very tiny, yet "cozy"). They do give you to keep slippers, a t-shirt and a bottle of water. read more
