My first time to get eyelash extensions and WOW! A few weeks ago I had a mishap with my eyelash curler and was left with hardly any lashes on my left eye. After a few weeks of fighting with falsies, I decided it was time to give Margie a call and see if she could help me. My appointment was on Wednesday and she had to work some magic but was able to give me beautiful extensions while my eyelashes grow. I'm hooked.... I love that I don't even have to wear eye makeup and it now takes half the time to get ready in the mornings. She also did a beautiful job waxing and shaping my eyebrows. Margie is definitely the most talented beauty artist I've ever been too! She is so passionate in her work and takes so much pride in everything she does. She's definitely the best of the best. I was 16 weeks pregnant when I first went to skin occasions for a wax....all my mamas can appreciate this experience. I am now on my way back, if that tells you anything, for my 4 week touch up (as I surely don't want anything long again with these hormones!!). The women there were so nice and made sure I was comfortable. She was quick with the wax but really took her time. Did not feel rushed like I have at other establishments. Saying I will be waxed by who ever is there that day and "that's how I run my business." I expect such policies from cheap corporate chain companies but not a "upscale" spa. I've been going to this salon every 2 weeks for the past 6 months. I loved the work done but when it came to scheduling another appointment they never got back with me. (After their change in receptionist) I tried again thinking maybe it was just an innocent mistake and was not spoken to very nicely. They also have an amazing product line and do so much more than waxing and facials. It's obvious they have received the highest quality education and training. So glad to have found this place! Ok I just had to post another review for SO. My skin and brows look amazing. I've been in Houston for about a year and a half and travel almost 100% of the time for work. I've tried other places both in TX and out of state when traveling for skin care and waxing. Skin Occasions is hands down the best place I've been to since moving to TX. The products they use are fabulous and the skill of the aestheticians is evident each time I go. I'm not in my 20's or 30's anymore and the aestheticians really understand and tailor my experience both relaxation wise and clinical wise to benefit aging skin. I look forward the most to my facials, as Monica truly is skilled in what she does. My face also looks amazing right after, and I feel relaxed and ready to take on the rest of the week. My skin has continuously gotten better after my facials with Monica. She tells me what to stay away from, what to use, and I believe truly wants what is best for me and my skin. I also have volume lashes and go every two weeks for my refills with Monica. She is quick and efficient, and more than once, I am so relaxed I fall asleep ;) Their pricing is fair and I have always gotten many compliments on my lashes! I have seen the work from other local places on some of my friends and was less than impressed with the outcome. Double think about going here for Microblading and shading. They coax you in promising results and quoting you one price. Once services are completed, they double the price. Although a touch-up which was scheduled 6 weeks and confirmed a day before was included in the initial fee, they quoted an additional price at the time of the appointment. No mention of this additional fee was ever discussed as they stated that it was included. Don't waste your time scheduling a time here - too many other aestheticians out there that are loyal to their word. read more

Amanda takes wonderful care of me every time I come in. I always feel well treated and relaxed when I come in for my waxing. She's very understanding - if I'm up for talking we make great conversation, or if I'm tired she just goes about her work and stays quiet. There's always wonderful music on in the background, and I know I'm going to be well taken care of when I come in. All of the staff there is great but Amanda will always be my go-to girl for my waxes. I make sure to schedule my appointments on days I know I can get her. I've had 2 experiences with this facility and I've enjoyed both. My sister in law has raved about Jenny for a while now and I finally was brave enough to get my glutes waxed by her. She was very reassuring and sweet. She let me know when it was going to hurt and when I was in the clear. Unfortunately Jenny is going on maternity leave soon so I will be using sarabeth until she is back. She has assured me that sarabeth is very sweet as well and very comforting. The day before your wax they text to confirm your appointment for the next day. That's nice because life can sometimes get out of control and you can forget appointments sometimes. I had such high hopes for this place but was EXTREMELY disappointed. I had eyelash extensions done and it looked like I barely got them tinted. You couldn't even tell I had anything done at all. I was very clear with the look I wanted and got the complete opposite. I let the staff know how unhappy I was & they told me they wouldn't charge as much when I came back to make them more full. I shouldn't have had to pay anything because I didn't receive the service I asked for! They tried to schedule me but once I had strep throat and didn't want to get anyone sick and the next time I had a death in my family (mind you they were still going to charge me). The next time I called they wouldn't help me AT ALL. Mind you I have worked in the customer industry my entire life and I have NEVER wrote a bad review. The day I came in I called and was able to get in THAT VERY DAY...after that they told me I should have called a week earlier. Since I got in on the same day I called I did not know this. So I have had to pay another place to take these lashes off..and even this place couldn't believe what a terrible job they did..and $200 for a full set. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY AT THIS PLACE AND I WILL NEVER GO AGAIN and HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! Save yourself the time and the money!!!! read more

Margie and her staff are awesome! I have always been treated so wonderfully. I'm always made to feel valued and important while at Skin Occassions. I can't understand some of the poor ratings especially when directed at customer service and attentiveness. I've gone to Margie for over 3 years. When she added Amanda she carefully selected the candidate that would treat her customers the ways she treats them. Then she spent several weeks to coach her along so that the client wouldn't feel that they had been simply passed off. Their waxing is fabulous and the Nova Lashes are the bomb! I would recommend them to anyone looking for skincare, waxing, makeup or lashes. Whether a special event or just because you're special they treat you right and provide great service. I went to Skin Occasions for my bridal make up. I love it! They made my day so much more special. My make-up lasted all night and it looked beautiful. The lashes were amazing and They took stress of my shoulders just because it was one less thing I had to worry about. I really love the work they do and was going regularly. I stopped going after I got switched over to a different person to apply my lashes, she was let go and I was back with the owner. The owner does a great job, but my "standing" appointment on Saturday kept getting changed and I had the feeling that I was being inconvenienced because of wedding opportunities. I can understand this on occaison, but it got to be too much trouble for me to have to deal with a schedule that was always changing. read more
