A simple kosher deli through and through…read more After stepping out of my comfort zone the last few times, I decided to go back to basics with the Jewish holidays approaching and the reopening of the Carnegie Deli. This is the food I grew up eating, so I take it seriously when I try this kind of food; it checks all the boxes. No, it is not cheap, but you get a nice amount of food to justify the cost. To start, a plate of pickles and cup of coleslaw is an excellent way to start. That is the Jewish equivalent to getting free bread at an Italian restaurant, or a basket of chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant. It is a must if you want to satiate your customers. The matzo ball soup is adequate for what comes in it. One matzo ball, but some carrots and noodles help make it more. The chicken broth is hearty and full of flavor. This is the perfect soup for when the weather gets colder. I finished with a Triple Decker of pastrami, corned beef, and tongue. All the meats tasted fresh and delicious, not too overstuffed, and the topping of coleslaw and Russian dressing created a nice cooling balance from the salty meat. The real kicker? Seedless rye! Thank goodness for the seedless rye! That is how you treat customers who have issues digesting seeds. Sorry Bobby Hill, you will not find pictures of celebrities on the walls of this deli. You will just find vintage seating, and good old fashioned flavors the way you knew and grew up eating. That is at least how I felt while eating here. I am happy I got to stop by, and look forward to coming back for more.

Always 5 stars - this place has great food and particularly the turkey is out of this world…read more Pastrami is fantastic. If you get the turkey, try it on garlic bread with a side of Russian dressing and it is so delicious
