Your response only confirms what so many of my Bay Area musician friends warned me about: the poor…read morecommunication, the dismissiveness, and the inflated sense of your own selectivity. For the record, I WAS a repeat customer -- you worked on both my Yamaha tenor and Selmer Mark VI alto on multiple occasions for close to $1,000 over the three repairs. So claiming you "don't know who I am" isn't just false -- it's telling. You didn't "choose" your customers carefully. You just treated them carelessly until they stopped coming back. And to be clear, your work was never exceptional -- passable at best, certainly not worth the frustration of trying to reach you or the disrespect shown in your reply. I should've listened to the many working pro colleagues of mine around here who steered me elsewhere. Who's arrogant? Many blessings to you.

Yikes, Mike! No…read moreissue with the number being NY. The issue is you shouldn't post your number if you're not going to answer. Or maybe note to leave a message for a swifter response. The phone call was urgent, we were looking to confirm your location as we were on the way. Again, the first time I called, you picked up, said nothing and hung up. Odd behavior for a business owner. So by the time you rejected the 2nd call and sent us to voicemail, you turned us off completely and we chose to explore our other options. Also, it's wild that you're only now responding to a review from 8 months ago. What makes your potential customers think you'll get to a voicemail in a timely manner??

We purchased our very first piano from here at the beginning of the pandemic. We figured that…read moresince we'd be staying home more often, why not purchase a real piano!? We made an appointment to come in and Ulysses helped us out. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and helped us through the process. He didn't rush us or pressure us to buy a piano, and he was patient in answering all our questions. We went home that same day to think about which piano we wanted to get and returned a week later to purchase a Yamaha upright piano. Overall, it was a great experience and we now have a beautiful piano!

Update: Gary responded to this review... and then deleted his response a day later…read more After reading it, I actually understand and respect the appointment-only business model. If customers want a private showroom experience, that's completely reasonable. Plenty of luxury businesses operate that way. The problem was never the appointment policy. The problem was how a potential customer was treated. I live next door and have been curious about this store for a long time. I finally saw you at the business and thought I'd ask about purchasing a piano. Instead of a simple, "We're appointment-only, but here's my card--I'd be happy to schedule you," I was dismissed while you waited for your DoorDash order. As someone who works in marketing and customer experience, this felt like a textbook example of turning a warm lead into a lost customer. Your original response then spent paragraphs explaining why I shouldn't have expected service, but not one sentence expressing regret that a genuinely interested buyer walked away with a bad experience. That said, I'm adjusting this to a 2-star rating because I did see some effort to acknowledge my post, even if it ultimately fell short. Businesses don't earn loyal customers by proving they're technically correct. They earn them by making people feel welcome. A 30-second conversation could have turned me into a customer. Instead, it turned me into someone who will be buying a piano elsewhere. If you already have an appointment, I'm sure the experience may be perfectly fine. But if you're hoping to stop in, ask a question, or get a feel for the place before committing, don't expect much hospitality. That's ultimately why I'm leaving this review--not because the business is appointment-only, but because customer service begins long before the appointment ever does.

Nothing wrong with appointment-only. Everything wrong with making a potential customer in front of you feel unwelcome.

She also is able to assess where exactly I am vocally, so that she doesn't push me too hard and get me frustrated and she doesn't leave me bored because the material is not challenging enough. She accesses that sweet spot. Her voice is incredible and it is a joy to get to listen to her sing, which she will do sometimes if I ask. I love also going out to see her in her public performances. She has brought me from not being able to sing at all to being a lot more confident and able to carry a tune. And I even noticed changes in my speaking voice. I'm going to continue with Anna for a long time. I can't wait to see where she can take my voice in the future!

We both take lessons with Jeremy. Jeremy teaches fully remotely now and does so extremely effectively - he is highly observant and picks up on the most subtle signs of tension or technique issues that are blockers to progress. He has the rare ability to teach the right technique in the most effective way for the individual student for the music they are playing. He carefully breaks down the intermediary steps towards achieving a difficult end result (e.g. we have recently worked on fast arpeggiated passages in pianissimo, rapid octaves with my very small handspan, independent articulation and phrasing for each voice in complex fugues) and teaches different practice techniques to get there in steps. My son has high functioning ASD and is not an easy student to teach. Jeremy has done a terrific job with him and has helped him improve tremendously since starting out. For us the remote teaching has not at all impacted teaching quality and has been a huge time saver advantage.
