There are…read moreso many horror stories about working in the entertainment industry in NYC but I had a great experience with Grant Wilfey. I'm not normally an actor but I took the opportunity because I was free for the shoot. This company has very strong communication and most of the film people on set were a pleasure to work with. All the instructions of where to be and what to do were very clear (which was good because I was new) and I met so many great people. I also was paid promptly afterwards. The casting experience was not as pleasant as I thought it would be. The studio was not baby friendly. They had metal benches as seats for the casters. The benches were definitely not baby proof! They had sharp corners. We're at a studio for a BABY casting right? So unfortunately, one baby was walking around and fell right on one of the corners. Poor baby bled. They asked mothers not to allow their babies to walk around, is that even possible? Obviously these people do not have kids. Part 2. We were told we made it as finalists and to hold a certain date open. 2 days before that date, I decided to call since I was not told what time to arrive for casting. Unfortunately, we were told that we have been released. No email or phone call were made to inform us. It would only be fair for us to be informed via the many available forms of communications. They asked their casters to hold a certain date for the final casting, but when we are not "hired" they simply waited for us to call to follow up. Their work might be keeping them busy from making a simple phone call or email, but our lives are busy too; especially working mothers. Even if we are the ones who have to call, at least employ people who are friendly and professional. I have definitely experience once of the sourest customer service from Paul. Blessing in disguise. Who wants to work with an unempathetic company.

ANYWAY.. Telsey and Co cast for everything from musicals and plays to commercials and feature films. They moved to 43d street actually and their new offices are very welcoming. The waiting room is HUGE and has lots of posters, and is painted green which I learned is supposed to be a 'calming' color....right... because the hyperventilation before I auditioned for Spider man today was simply a figment of my imagination.. The bathrooms deserve a shout out. Huge stalls, plenty of light from giant windows, and enough mirrrors to accommodate approximately 15 worried musical theater divas, or 20 regular ladies.(they tend to not travel with curling irons therefore take up less space) Anyway, thumbs up on the new location, auditioning here makes me feel important and a teeny weeny big more calm than other places.

I recently got my headshots done there, and I had a blast of an afternoon and got great affordable shots to boot! Not only were Angela and Christopher a joy to hang out with and talk shop about the business, but they encouraged me to relax and try some different looks so I could get a variety of options. I was…read morecompletely new to acting after a career change, but after just my first program I started getting up to 10 auditions a week. From learning script analysis, on camera technique, getting my headshots and reel, and having help getting my casting account set up in class, I found myself getting cast super often immediately after graduation from the beginner program. I now take the on going advanced classes, and all the students and coaches truly feel like a family to me. The school's coaches are all working actors themselves who have worked with some of the biggest names in the industry so they are the best to learn from. They are people that you can go to with any questions you may have as a new actor and they are always so helpful. This isn't the type of school where you eventually take all the classes and have no more to gain; the advanced classes are always growing and the coaches give us scenes and work that they know will help our individual careers. The coaches take the most amazing tapes in class for us so I have a great reel from that to use for castings. We also always have endless support, a place to film our self tapes, and help with our auditions at this school. The classes that are offered are also the most affordable acting classes I have found in the city. I am grateful everyday that I have Act First!

All the models were so talented and kind. I felt welcomed and excited to be there. Ive been modeling since the age 11, and every agency is different, it just depends on what companies are looking for when they book.

On two occasions I've hired their women and they informed the model of the wrong day and time... Thus making me scramble to fill the now empty spot mid photo-shoot due to their screw-up! Really too bad for their gals who really are great!
