I received treatment from Kayal Orthopaedic Center, and post-treatment, I was presented with an unexpected bill amounting to $34,000. This charge was neither discussed nor disclosed prior to the surgery, which directly contravenes the ethical requirement to inform patients of their potential financial liability. After the procedure, I learned that these practices seem to have become common following the acquisition of the clinic by its new corporate owner, who appears to engage systematically in maximizing claims against insurance and then pursuing patients for the balance, a practice known as balance billing. This is particularly concerning given that such practices are now prohibited under New Jersey state law. Furthermore, there appears to be a pattern of similar complaints against this provider, as evident from multiple ongoing legal cases in the New Jersey Superior Court, indicating a troubling trend in their approach to billing and patient communication. Also , there were constant implications that I wasn't working hard enough and that was why my foot was taking so long to heal. Meanwhile at my wonderful PT office I was told that I had a severe injury that would take a very long time to heal and that they were sorry I was not prepared and impressed by my willingness to work so hard. There is definitely something wrong in this office. The only person that was consistently nice was the woman that greeted you at the front desk. I felt like no one else wanted to be there or wanted me to be there and I didn't feel like a person with value. . On my last visit I was told " this is your last visit -bye! Two years later my foot is still numb , but, I would never go back there or recommend my surgeon. I'm sorry , but, I believe people that work in the medical field must have skill and empathy!
