WHAT AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE. I don't think I will see views like this again in my life. We did the gondola and three run luge package and it was so exciting, fun, and breath-taking. The staff was so friendly and helpful when it came to navigating the activities. The faculties were very clean. And again, the VIEWS. I would recommend doing more than 3 luge rides. I had so much fun and belly laughed like I've never laughed before. It looks more intimidating than it actually is. Plus, you get to look absolutely fab in their helmets. read more

Way back when in 2015 on our bucket list trip to NZ our tour include trip up here and supper. Great view. Very cold for May as we just left Texas summer to go down under. Probably best to take the trip in daylight to see more. read more

Skyline Queenstown is an absolute must-visit for the best views of Queenstown. The gondola ride os steep. Once on the top, you can really see Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables very well. We took tons of pictures and videos. Amazing. read more

This is a wonderful way to view the city of Queenstown from above. You can see the lake and the Remarkables and it is so beautiful. It is a bit crowded out on the balcony, but totally worth it. The lift up is pretty steep, but it's cool because you can put your mountain bike on it and ride to the top (I take it there are some trails form the top). You go right by the bungee jump & swing, so that is fun to watch. Atop there is a gift shop, and the luge- which looks kind of intense considering it is just small curbs to keep you from flying off of the mountain haha. You can buy your bungee jumping/swing tickets from up top as well (this is AJ Hackett- not the Canyon Swing). There is a bar up there and a restaurant that overlooks the town. It would be a great place for a romantic dinner or just to watch the sunrise. Don't bother buying your lift ticket in advance since you still have to wait in the ticket line to get them to print it for you (you can't print it- it has to be them). Pretty pointless. One complaint is that your ticket is only good for one round-trip. Had I known that, I would've waited until sunset to use our ride- I bet the view is even more stunning. It is good for all ages and definitely something to see, but just make sure you go when you want to,a s the ticket it only good for one trip. read more

We came here for Christmas Lunch. The view was spectacular. The service was nice. The food on the other hand, I was expecting a lot more, for the price I paid. I understand that it was a buffet & that you had a lot of people to feed, but for the price, I was expecting better quality, better tasting food. read more

The skyline Gondola takes you up above Queenstown for a Birdseye view of the surroundings. At the top there's a lot going on with a restaurant, gift shop, luge ride (fun!), mountain biking trails and hiking trails. It was a warm sunny day so we took the short ride up in the speedy gondola. You can buy combo ticket to include x number of luge rides (2-6 rides) which we did. We spent about an hour and a half later in the afternoon (after the tour groups had already been through) with short waits going up and down. Since it was so clear you could really see far up and down the valley. We would definitely recommend to friends visiting to take in the view. read more

This was our first time ever riding on a Gondola. Our Airbnb host told us that the ride up is the same height as the lake is deep. Fun fact right? We didn't do anything up there aside from take pictures at the ever so beautiful panoramic view of the city. There was a Maori wedding happening that caught everyone's attention. This beautiful native bride walking the halls to her reception. Since I was on my honeymoon, I got a little choked up. There is a restaurant, luge ride and a gift shop. Just not enough time to do everything, but if you have the time, do it all if you can. read more

The view from the viewing top was beautiful. The area was a bit small though. We also had buffet at the restaurant which offered similar view. The service was very pleasant and efficient. There were quite a few tour groups came for the dinner. I wish there were choice of a la carte menu. read more

Dinner at the StratosFare (the buffet restaurant at the summit of the Skyline Gondola) is overpriced and not particularly impressive. The views are lovely, as is the live music - but don't come here primarily for the food. The buffet is extensive, but mediocre. The beef was dry, the lamb was too fatty, the salmon lacked seasoning, the broccoli was boring and steamed, the tiramisu was overly sweet...I could go on. The service was disappointing as well. The waiter came by to ask for our drink orders once, and when told we needed a minute, never came by a second time to take my drink order. All in all - I feel like I wasted both money and calories here. If you want to do the gondola, just do that, go on a hike up top, take some pictures, and call it a day. read more

Breath taking view if you can ignore the constant picture taking of groups of tourists. Almost comical. We rode the gondola to the top and enjoyed the view. It was a sunny afternoon and a view of the whole valley was spectacular. The ride was enclosed so it wasn't windy and felt very secure. Gondola ride was fun, although a little scary in the dark. Amazing view from the top, albeit a tad chilly! Haka show was one of the better ones I've seen - short and sweet and involved the audience. Great for overseas tourists but also enjoyable for kiwis who have 'seen it all before'. Enjoyed a private area downstairs from the smorgasboard restaurant - good for a group of around 20. Choices on the set menu seemed ok and was presented nicely but the food was nothing to write home about. Service was also average, although all the food was brought to the table at the same time, we were expected to pour our own drinks. Not sure how much it cost but as a tourist attraction I imagine it was rather over-priced for the quality of the food. read more

Must visit spot in Queenstown! Even if you are pressed for time and want to see the best view Queenstown has to offer, this is the perfect place. With panoramic views of the city, the lake, and the Remarkables, it is absolutely worth it to spend some time up here marveling at the beauty. Luging is also an absolute MUST! $55 for return gondola ride with 5 luge rides or $60 for 6 luge rides. Trust - you will definitely want to go more than once. I spent a total of about an hour and a half zipping down on the luge and snapping a bunch of pictures - which was more than enough time. Highly recommended! read more

My brothers and I enjoyed the gondola ride. I would say that the descent is quite steep. We experienced differences in air pressure and topography and even spotted some wildlife on the way up. The views from the top were spectacular: The beautiful city of Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu against the backdrop of the Remarkable Mountains. There is also a restaurant and souvenir shop. I can't remember the price, but it was worth the visit and view. Similar to any gondola ride up a mountain, the view was priceless. Make sure to wear a jacket and gloves because as it rides up 450 meters up to Bob's Peak, it gets quite chilly. The panoramic view is that of 220 degrees and the nighttime view is spectacular with a New Zealand style buffet. Try the venison. I kid you not, but it taste less gamy and far better than in the states. read more

There are beautiful views from the gondola and the viewing platforms at the top. Most of the mountaintop activities were closed when I was there, unfortunately, but the gondola ride itself was fun. The viewing platforms were a good size and not too crowded, but I can imagine full platforms in warmer periods of the year might be a bit nervewracking for some. (Also, there were a few loose tiles on the viewing platforms, which gave me pause on occasion.) read more

This is definitely worth the price of the ticket - whether you are just going up to see the views, have lunch/dinner, going to up for all the outdoor activities. We had a large group and everyone found something they wanted to do - hiking/mountain biking/ luge / bungie jumping / joint parasailing and zip lining between the trees. If you have always wanted to try zip lining between the trees, this is a great place to give it a try. Guides are very good and nothing is hard - they really take care of everything for you and you can just enjoy the ride. read more

A bit expensive, but a must do if you're in town. We visited and tossed up between the $39 package per adult (gondola ride, and one luge run) or the lunch buffet deal ($55 per adult). We decided that having done the luge in Rotorua we could pass on that, but a buffet lunch sounded fairly appealing. The views from the Gondola were spectacular - you accelerate up the hill at a fair rate, so it probably isn't going to be much fun if heights aren't your thing but if you can stand not looking down then it is fantastic to be able to look out across the surrounding landscape. The restaurant was better than I expected, to be honest. Buffets aren't necessarily my thing but the food was very good and tasted fresh. A decent number of vegetarian options as well as fresh and cooked salads and the desserts especially were delicious. Tiny little creme brulees, chocolate mouses, pavlova and cheesecakes among others. My recommendation would be to head along for the lunch sitting - cheaper than dinner, and you get to appreciate the stunning views during daylight hours. read more

The luge looks scarier than it actually is. The gondola ride is awesome!!! The little snack shop has yummy hot chocolate with pink and white marshmallows. Although pricey at $26 (New Zealand) per person, the views from up here are spectacular. There is a viewing deck (bring a jacket, hat, gloves, and scarf in the winter), a restaurant and bar, and luge rides (separate cost). read more

True, it is a Buffet but the tables are laid with fresh linen and the utensil set is complete and is legitimate cutlery. The food is all freshly prepared and in an astounding array - large salad bar with all the ingredients one expects (an excellent bowl of Caesar Salad is also available), Soups, Sashimi, fresh Sushi Rolls, generous Shrimp Cocktails, Rotissierie Lamb and Beef, Venison, BBQ Chicken, Calimari, Mussels, and a huge selection of Desserts like Pavlova, Creme Brûlée, Tiramisu, and much more. The Wait Staff is extensive and are extremely friendly and very attentive. Live but unobtrusive background music, provided by a talented singer, accompanied by an excellent guitarist, further served to mitigate the ambience of a "Buffet". The Gondola Ride to a spectacular view is the "icing on the cake". In summary, this is a very worthwhile experience in which to partake and we have no compunctions about recommending it. read more

The view from the top is spectacular. We took lots of pictures. It was fairly busy, but not uncomfortable. I have never eaten the food, but it looks simple (and probably overpriced). The luge riding is pretty fun. Safe, but thrilling. I have also walked up through the forest. I recommend both. read more
