I stumbled upon Canadian Shade during one of my searches and low and behold within 15 minutes I knew what I wanted. The website is so well laid out with dimensions, options and pricing that I knew straight away what I required. A phone call to Canadian shade the next day was answered by Chris who was at a job site but put time aside to chat about my project. Another call was placed to Brenda and voila I had a quote within days to my specifications. The 19x12 foot Pergolino unit was dropped of months later as COVID was holding up the production line. I installed the unit myself and it is truly a wonderful piece of workmanship. Brenda actually managed to quote me on fabric for my 1980's older awning attached to the house. I tried in vain in Ottawa but the prices were off and people all around were not that helpful. They were very courteous and completed the job within a few hours. A few months later, we were having an issue with our wind sensor and thought it was broken. We called Canadian Shade and Chris was back the next day. As it turns out, it was just an issue with the battery which he replaced that day. No cost. No complaints. He was happy to help. I've been a customer of theirs for years and due to a number late, albeit paid (with late fee…read moreincluded) payments, they decided to end their service to my house. No warning, no discussion. Last year, prior to putting my Awning up, they would not release it until I paid $260 for alleged repair with " new stitching" that they say was not available when they made the awning. this was also a nonnegotiable. There was no evidence (such as leaking or fraying) that it needed to be done, but I could not get the Awning put up unless I agreed to it. There have been numerous other small problems over the years as well. I guess they have enough business to cut customers off with no discussion. It would be helpful to customers if their billing process was easier and they offered automated payments. It seems a business practice of ending business relationships with no discussion will only last so long. I would say stay clear of Custom Covers & Canvas!
