We had zero complaints about SkyShuttle. The on-line experience to book our $60 round trip for two from the airport to the Downtown Westin was easy as easy could be. Finding the airport kiosk to check in upon arrival was not hard. Maybe the signs could have been a little bigger and more prominent? The van was comfortable and the driver drove safely. Airport shuttles are used by people experiencing their best and their worst; happy to have arrived and stressed at being late for a departure. It's not shocking to see reviews reflecting this. The best shuttle service can't make up for someone's poor planning or sincere misadventure; the laws of temporal physics still apply. I've regularly used the Edmonton SkyShuttle over the last six or seven years without incident. Sometimes I'm purchasing a ride at the last moment at the in-terminal location. They've got rides from the airport into the city late at night, when my budget fares deposit me at YEG. They have crazy-early pick-up times (with advanced reservation) of which I've made use too many times to count, my eyes barely open as we crunch over new snowfall back to YEG. The drivers have dealt gracefully with rude, angry, self-entitled passengers many times in my presence. No, they can't go faster. No, they can't drop you off at your special place, not even just this once. Yes, it costs money. I can recommend Edmonton SkyShuttle unreservedly. They're not too hard to reach, helpful with my questions and scheduling needs, and always deserving of a tip. Thank you all, drivers and office staff. We had to pick up my mom and brother from the airport on Christmas Day, but our car had a flat tire. Apparently, flat tires were quite common that week because we ended up waiting for the shuttle for over an hour at the Varscona hotel, only to find out they had a flat tire too! Thank goodness the hotel lets you wait inside the lobby, otherwise I think I would have frozen to death that day! The shuttle company was sending over another van, and it didn't take them long after we called (even though it had already been awhile). The van was packed full, but luckily they had room for a few more. We were all squished in like sardines, luggage and presents everywhere, no seatbelts. I was terrified that the baby sitting behind me was going to puke in my hair, because the driver was speeding. I know, my priorities are a bit skewed ... The driver was going well over the speed limit, making me quite nervous. I think it was because a fellow in the van was late for his flight, but still ... there was a baby in the van! My boyfriend and I exchanged a nervous glance when we saw our driver counting the cash in his hand as he sped through the highway. (It's $15 per person to the airport, $30 return trip). That didn't do much to ease my anxiety. I was the first to hop out when we got to the airport. It was fast and cheaper than a taxi, but I could have done without the queasy feeling in my stomach getting there. I really hope we don't run into another flat tire anytime soon! read more

Over the years this has been one of the best ways of getting to and from the airport for me, partially because I live close enough to a hotel to use this service and walk home from the hotel location of choice. While I don't use Sky Shuttle nearly as often as I once did, now, choosing public transit or private transportation more frequently, it is nice to have an option that is not nearly as expensive as a taxi, since the Edmonton International Airport is so far away from Edmonton city proper. My latest trip on Sky Shuttle was pretty odd in that several customers somehow managed to depart after having paid their fare, and they never did board the shuttle bus. I was also really surprised to receive my change in American dollars rather than in Canadian dollars given the current exchange rate. Still it was a good trip and I made it home at a reasonable hour. I wish sometimes that this service were available 24/7 but it does have longer hours that public transit and so it is more convenient than the bus for that reason alone. Additionally the seats are comfortable and there's a large luggage rack for your luggage needs. read more

We have sponsored a convention in Edmonton and had nothing but trouble with SkyShuttle. People booked the service from the airport to the hotel and return and paid for it and they gave the times they needed. When it came time to call back for the pick up they were informed that they didn't run the shuttle that early in the morning. These ladies had to pack everything up and get the shuttle to Nisku THEN spend the night in another hotel and get that shuttle to the airport in the morning. Of course, this meant another unpack of things and repack. There was no apology or anything give to them. What a disgusting situation for people coming from out of country. Worst shuttle service possible, thought I would save money and time by booking with these folks boy was I wrong! No departure guarantees, and they admit there is 100% no reason for them to ask you for flight info because they don't actually care what time you get in - they have no set schedule and what time you leave the airport is completely random. Upon arrival at their airport kiosk was told I'd have to wait over an hour for the next shuttle [to go 15 mins away]. Flight already arrived late so hopped in a cab and called them from the taxi to demand a refund since they could not meet basic service levels. Was told by manager on the phone that the next shuttle was only actually 20 mins out and that their clerk at the airport mis-informed me. She apologized and offered to process the refund. Months later and after multiple emails to their support team they come back and say some mid-level manager has suddenly refused to honor the refunding citing some garbage internal corporate policy - even though they told me over the phone and in writing they would process it. Don't use this service, turns out Edmonton has uber and even if they didn't I'd rather pay twice as much in cabs than give these scumbags any of my heard earned coin. Where to begin? I have been taking this service about once a month for over a year. They are terrible. Let's start when my girlfriend came to visit, her first time here. She was supposed to get off at a stop Downtown, but someone asked to get off earlier. The driver said he could get fired for doing that but did so anyway. Because of that, the driver forgot to stop at where my girlfriend was supposed to stop. Even worse, I was waiting for her at the stop and saw her bus go past. At the end, the driver ended up driving to the Ramada on Kingsway. He then wouldn't drive her back Downtown because he said it's too far and she would have to wait until he started pickups again. He tried to shift the blame to my girlfriend and said she should have said something... well, similar to Meena A (reviewer), how would she know where to get off if it was her first time in Edmonton?! As I sit here waiting for the Sky Shuttle to leave on Thanksgiving Monday, they are only running their buses once an hour even though holiday traffic is busy. I have to wait an hour, and the bus will be full. Now they are telling people an hour and 20 minutes. That is unacceptable for having a monopoly on airport transportation. Other times on pickups they're almost always late. They tell you to wait 15 minutes early, but the worst they've been is half an hour late, which means I was waiting for 45 minutes. I would say avoid this at all costs, but unfortunately the City of Edmonton doesn't have their act together either. Public transportation to and from the airport runs just twice a day, a few times in the morning and a few times in the evening and takes an hour from Century Park. Ridiculous. Hopefully as the City of Edmonton grows, so do the transportation options to and from the airport. There are just so many terrible things about this so-called service that I don't even know where to begin. A few years ago, Sky Shuttle might have got two or three stars out of me, but they have got worse and worse, particularly with reliability, over the last couple years. When I first started taking Sky Shuttle, it used to run (approximately) on a schedule you could find online and all you needed to do was show up at a pickup location, or wait around for up to 45 minutes at the airport, and you were good to go. Now, you need to book (and pay!) in advance by calling them or going online. And they tell you to arrive 15 minutes early, otherwise they won't be responsible for you missing your shuttle. Ok, fine. In practice though, it seems like for myself and my friends, about 1 in 4 times we try to take the shuttle to the airport, it's either over an hour late, or it's more than 15 minutes early. Then we end up having to take a cab to the airport anyways, and Sky Shuttle won't refund your ticket that you've prepaid for. Add to that the time the driver of our minibus and his buddy in a van decided to race each other back into the city (terrifying) and the time that I was alone with a driver who said he would drop me off closer to home if I bribed him (and that there were things other than money that would work), and I'd highly recommend finding any other possible way to and from the airport. read more

They will charge you $12 for it and then when you call to book your return trip they will tell you "Sorry no buses available (even for a 6PM Sunday Trip from the South of Edmonton". Never again will I use this service. Will just pay extra for a cab next time. Was told that the driver would call out he was loading so I waited in the lobby. Well, he either never called out or was using sign language or something. I was sitting right next to the desk. He would have had to walk right past me ... not only that but I was in full view of the lady at the counter who had just booked me 5 minutes earlier and knew damn well I was scheduled for that shuttle. I literally watched the guy pull away and ran up to the counter (3 steps away) to say, "what the hell? why didn't someone tell me he was loading?" She swears he did....I call B.S. because he has a passenger manifest.... Cleary, he never checked it. The only upside was that they had another shuttle 30 min. later. As for the ride, the shuttle was so bouncy that I couldn't even start to write this review. I had to wait until I got to the hotel. But that's not even the bad part. The really bad part is that I accepted the advice of the lady at the counter for the return shuttle time. She told me I would have plenty of time and recommended the 12:50 return shuttle for a 2:50 flight. What a bunch of crap! She totally forgot to mention that the shuttle would have 5 other stops and wouldn't get to the airport until 2:00 ... 10 minutes after they stop issuing boarding passes for my flight to the U.S.. In the end, they cost me another night in a hotel, + cabs, + food, + missed work, + new airfare ... $900 ... all because I tried to save $50 on a taxi. read more

I live downtown. I don't own a vehicle. I need to go places. Sometimes. I've lived here a few years now. I've seen the Sky Shuttle morph from a service that used to have a fairly regular route, to one that now requires reservations. They've also gradually increased their prices throughout the years. Nonetheless, for someone like myself, they have been a savior. Sure, ETS now offers service to YEG. But Sky Shuttle has saved my ass on more than one occasion. When I first moved here, I found Sky Shuttle to be a very useful way to get to the airport. I hate (and many others do too) YEG, the airport. It is really too far and the idea that cabbing it to the airport every time you need to go, is a monumentally tragic concept! From that point of view, I think the skyshuttle provides convenient service, for less, to the godforsaken airport. Although I haven't had any bad experiences, I have heard from others and has also been noted by Jacqueline S.'s review, that their schedules are all over the place and on many occasions people end up taking a cab at the last minute - that aint cool! As for me, however, I've never had that problem. I take the 15 minute rule quite seriously. Also, I live on 104th street and basically 90% of the skyshuttle buses that go to the airport, take the 104th street from Whyte itself, so it's not the same as being in a secluded pat of to town where only one shuttle comes every half hour. Of course, a quick tip is to take a shuttle that gets you to the airport well over an hour early. Yes, it's a ridiculous concept, but YEG does have free internet nowadays, so why not! I certainly freak out at the idea that I might miss the flight and end up going quite early LOL. With the airport so far away and overly expensive parking for a farmland area, the city is really giving its residents a 1-2 punch when it comes to using the airport. Skyshuttle or a friend/family drop off/pickup is the only saving grace! read more

Edmonton SkyShuttle provided my ride from the West Edmonton Mall Inn to the Edmonton airport yesterday early afternoon. Maybe the seats were what some would call "narrow", but since the van wasn't crowded, it really didn't matter. The driver picked up on time, drove safely, was courteous, and played a good choice of music (softly) on the radio. We arrived at the airport and had prebooked the tickets. I was grabbing my checked luggage while my friend waited by the shuttle registration. He had been told to wait and the driver would come and get us before leaving. We waited by the shuttle registration but the driver never came to get us so we then missed it and were told to wait a half hour for the next shuttle. We requested a refund so we could just get a taxi and were brushed off and told that there were no refunds. Booked weeks in advance for the day after Grey Cup. They simply didn't send the shuttle to our hotel. We scrambled to take a cab for another $60. Missed our flight anyway since security was slow. Spoke to their employee later that day and she told me their boss wouldn't put extra staff on and everyone was overwhelmed. She assured me I would get a refund. Three weeks later I get an email from them that they transported me with a cab so they refuse my refund. Blatant lie!! So after paying them online, we had to pay an extra $70 for a cab, missed our flight, had to pay $150 rebooking fees and spent 19 hours waiting for our next flight. We booked 2 way tickets from the Edmonton airport to our hotel near West Edmonton Mall. We didn't have trouble getting from the airport to the hotel but when we had trouble on our way back to the airport. The shuttle we booked never came and when we called, the shuttle service claim they came to our hotel and left because we weren't on time. Without writing too much of a rant, I can say, honestly we were there 15 minute prior, my husband was outside with a cup of coffee, trying to keep warm in the snow. When I inquired whether we can get a refund because we are about to miss our flight at this point, as my husband started dialing for a cab, Sky Shuttle said, go to our website and write a compliant in our feedback box. I was travelling with family with everyone arriving at different times but staying at the same hotel. I find out from my family members that they were notified of the round trip deal of $30 at the airport whereas I wasn't and told to purchase a one way ticket for $18. I called into the head office and explained the situation and was told I had to go to the airport to get the round trip ticket deal (even though I was already at the hotel). They told me they couldn't do anything for me and that my trip from hotel to airport will be $18 and "to know for next time." I can't recommend it due to poor customer service. read more

The driver that picked us up on our way back to the airport was the rudest guy I think I've possibly ever met... ick. This is the worst shuttle experience I have ever had. Our driver was beyond rude and treated the 6 passengers in his van horribly. We waited for over 20 min for one customer who have no phone number or contact info and the driver just sat and waited for this person while the 6 of us sat and waited. We all told him we were going to miss our flight and he didn't care. He said it wasn't his fault and it was our fault. Worst experience ever. Don't ever book this business. Horrible customer service. Rude people who clearly don't care about people or their business. I will take a taxi from now on and would tell everyone else to do the same. Skyshuttle is great, when they don't sell out. But if you're relying on them to get you to the airport, recognize they sell out very easily, especially from downtown to the airport. No sympathy shown from them, they had a 3 hour window on a Monday to get me from downtown to the airport, and they couldn't do it. I took the Southbound LRT to the final stop and took the 747 bus instead, and I will do that again in the future. That costs $8 instead of Skyshuttle's $18 or $15. read more

Oh god, try not to get stuck using this service. It can end up taking 1 1/2 hours to get to the airport. I had an 8:30 a.m. reservation and myself and the other passenger were told by the driver that we may have to wait an hour so he could pick up other people. He said the dispatchers sometimes instruct him to do that. I got the hell off the shuttle and called my sister. This service has degraded severely. Bottom line: truly unreliable service. As I diligently and patiently stood waiting at my pick up spot for 1.5 hours, 2 consecutive pick ups by Sky *apparently* occurred... or so I'm told. To be clear, I was not intermittent with respect to my attendance (i.e. I waited at pick up location the 1.5 hours) and was at the correct pick-up location (i.e. Sky drop offs occurred while I was waiting). Although regrettable, missing a pick up from time to time is one thing... and I'm reasonable enough to forgive. However, having your phone operators lying about said missed pick over the telephone to a customer and then messing up the back-up pick-up plan (i.e. a mistake on a mistake) suggests to me that Sky Shuttle is in dire need of new management and/or a competitor. My flight had just arrived and I walked up to the counter to buy a ticket to downtown. The sales rep asked where I was going and I said downtown, the Canterra Suites, and I wanted to buy my ticket while I waited for my bag. He said if I paid $30 cash right away then I could leave right away. I said no I have credit and I am waiting for my bag (like I had just told him, but I was ignored) and he told me I had to go get my bag and I would be on the next one in a half hour, which I said was fine. I returned with my bag about 3 minutes later and asked again for a ticket to downtown. Again I was told in a very rushed manner that if I "had $30 cash right now I could get the bus leaving now". I said no, asked why the price was $30, and said I wanted to pay with credit card. I was ignored over and over, even though I asked about 5 times why it was $30. The round trip price is $30, it was very obvious I did not need round trip, and I only asked for downtown. After two drivers and the sales rep argued about who was driving where and when (for quite sometime) he motioned for me to hand him my credit card. Before I did, I asked how much it was (he had NEVER said $18 the entire time I had been standing there) and this time he said $18 and joked "why? you want to pay $80? Haha..." I then made my way onto a shuttle for a rather uneventful ride on the loudest shuttle I've ever been on. My issue here is I was very certain I was being ripped off when asked for $30 to "leave right away". I was never asked if I was going round trip. All I said was I want to go downtown. More than once I was pressured into handing over $30 quickly without thinking about it so I could get on the next bus. It is very obvious to me that he was trying to take advantage of people who are in a rush and don't want to wait for the next bus. If I had the cash I might have paid it without thinking much. The sales rep was clearly pocketing the extra $12 as he could and probably brushed off complaints by saying he meant to sell a round trip ticket. I have sent a complaint to the company. I am writing a letter the newspaper. And I am filing a complaint with BBB, even though they are not a member since they have a F rating. When I left my apartment at 3:10 pm for my 5:50pm flight, I had no idea that I would spend longer on the Sky Shuttle bus than I was supposed to be in the air. I write 'supposed' because I missed my flight. Sky Shuttle blamed me...said I hadn't left enough time. They also hung up on me. The fact that the driver kept re-assuring me that we would be at the airport by 5 "at the latest...then 5:15, then 5:30....". Finally after taking almost 2 hours to get from Oliver to the University Hospital (a drive that takes 6 to 8 minutes depending on traffc),' I hailed a taxi. He was a great driver, but with rush hour....I didn't make it. Hopefully all of the other passengers from the Sky Shuttle bus (that's right...ALL OF THE OTHER SHUTTLE PASSENGERS hopped off and grabbed taxis at the Uof A Hospital!) made their flights. Luckly, West Jet booked me a new fight tomorrow morning at no charge. Why no charge? Because SKY SHUTTLE has an established reputation at the YEG airport for making people miss their flights. I know they only charge 18 or so dollars...but it isn't worth the cost of the airline ticket. I've used the SkyShuttle service multiple times this past year and have had good drivers and decent service for the most part. One pick up was really late and I was about to take a cab, but it showed up at the last minute. The customer service/phone agent was helpful and allowed me to exchange my pre booked ride for a different date (my return trip) and then back again when the shuttle did show up. Otherwise, drivers have been helpful. One dropped me off at a non-designated intersection that was closer to my home and en route to the next stop because it was very late at night and I was travelling alone. Depending on the number of pickups and road conditions (particularly in the winter), they can sometimes run a bit behind schedule (or ahead), so I've always made sure to be 15 minutes early at the stop. Unfortunately, I've noticed that they changed the baggage allowance -- formerly, you were allowed 2 bags and one carry on item. They now allow only 1 piece of luggage and a carry on, and then charge for any additional pieces of luggage... read more

Overall a very good experience. The drivers were courteous and helpful. When I booked the pickup I accidentally choose the morning instead of the afternoon. Luckily, they were scheduled to pickup someone else at the same time so I got a ride on time. They did not charge me a second time even though I missed the original pickup time. I had a very positive experience with Shy Shuttle. I took the shuttle from the Airport to the Fairmount McDonald Hotel. There were several passengers attending weddings that week-end. We had a great chat, our driver pointed out several significant sights that we might be interested in seeing. We had a blast. There were quite a few stops (due to the number of passengers) but no one was in a hurry. We all had a great time and our driver was more like a tour guide, telling us all about Edmonton and all the good things about his city. If I could give zero stars I would. Surly drivers that don't give a damn about customers. My hotel booked a pickup for 3:25 and when the bus showed up at my hotel the driver refused to let me on saying another bus was coming. When I called after waiting around for another 20 minutes the dispatch told me that I was supposed to be picked up 2 hours before!!!! The shuttle arrived 5 min early for a peace of mind, and service was very professional. I feel that any delays in shuttle arrival should be attributed to passengers not being ready to board when the shuttle arrives to pick them up (eg. Someone not waiting at the stop at their scheduled time, resulting in holding everyone back). Overall this is a wonderful service to get to the airport without robbing your bank. Give yourself some time to breathe and everything should flow quite smoothly when using this service. read more

I see there are a lot of bad reviews for this shuttle service, but on our recent trip to Edmonton we had no problem at all. We pre-booked a round trip for as much as a taxi would have cost for one way. When we arrived in Edmonton, we knew that the shuttles ran on the hour and that we might barely miss it and have to hang out for an hour for the next one. But by hustling we made it to the Skyshuttle counter right on the hour. The woman at the desk suggested one of us run out to the van to stop it from leaving while she quickly checked us in. The driver was very nice and waited the extra minute so we could get on without delay. The drive was very quiet and relaxing after a long flight. A few days later, we were ready to go at the specified pickup time from our hotel and the shuttle pulled up at the exact prearranged time. We were the only people on the shuttle and consequently got to the airport with time to spare. Obviously when its a shared shuttle situation, you need to allow extra time to pick up from other hotels if necessary. But considering how much less expensive it was than taking Uber or a taxi, it was well worth leaving extra time. read more

Fortunately, skyshuttle seems to have fixed their scheduling problems. I have used them countless times in the past, and found myself often waiting for over 30 minutes, which would get me panicking about catching my flight in time. Since their new pick up times were implemented at the end of November, 2011, they have been right on time, every time for me. I use them typically 4 times a week, and am grateful they pulled their act together, as taking a taxi is simply not a viable option for me all the time. Don't do it. Booked on line with my flight information. Showed up at 6:45, and was told that the 7:00 bus was full and that I would have to wait until 8:00. Instead of waiting over an hour, I took the very convenient and affordable public transportation into town instead (only $5.00). One the trip back to the airport we had many stops--it would have been at least as fast to take the bus and metro again. Bottom line: unless you have many heavy bags and are staying far from the metro, then you should avoid this company. Terrible, terrible, terrible. read more
