I got a last-minute audition and needed a same-day self tape service and after trying but failing to book a time slot at my usual spots I stumbled upon skytown and wow I am thrilled that I did. I worked with FLORIN and he was exceptional from start to finish. He was very communicative and fit me into a tight schedule; not only that, he was EXCEPTIONAL to work with. considering it was such a last-minute audition I was hoping for some coaching and he really knew what he was talking about. He improved upon what I had brought in tremendously and was very easy to work with, he made me very comfortable, and really knew how to work with an actor. Probably because he is a great actor himself! It's hard to find self tape services sometimes that have good readers but you do not need to worry about that with skytown. I can't say enough about how wonderful Skytown has been for me. I stumbled onto it almost by accident, as I had a last minute audition (on a weekend, of course) and I have never been pleased with my results (nor have my representatives) self taping at home. Jane immediately found time for me. Most self taping resources (who also tend to cost more and are not as experienced or efficient) have a voicemail message sending you to their website to access their availability-- which doesn't work when there's a time crunch, and there are so many in this business! Jane is a true pro, a wonderful reader, organized, kind, and supportive. I never felt rushed through the scenes and I felt she wanted me to turn in my very best work, even when I felt silly for doing one short scene more than several times. Well I got word from my manager that the casting person reached out personally to tell her that while I wasn't right for the role, she would have me back in a few weeks for one she thought I was perfect for. I'm so grateful to have found Skytown. About two years ago I researched and tried about 3 other studios and I've stuck with Skytown because 1) they're very accommodating and have been able to schedule me on very short notice, which, between the way auditions come in and keeping a schedule at your survival job, is verrry helpful 2) Very quick turnaround time getting your tape out 3) great pricing 4) They are technically and artistically very experienced. Which also leads me to the last and most standout reason they are my go-to studio now 5) They are reserved and professional as a default but if you ask for any input they give great tips and guidance in the most respectful, compassionate, supportive and efficient "we-are-on-the-same-team-YOUR-TEAM!" way that really helps me put my best work out and feel good about the creative experience. I've worked with Jane and Jacob probably 5-8 times now (and Roy once, I think) and I will continue to go back. After being stranded with only one place that I knew of to self tape, honestly, I was frustrated. I'm a pretty easy person to please, but having said that, each time I felt my money had been wasted, and a semi decent performance was taped. Hopeless.......until now. Jane was simply awesome! She is centrally located so I was able to get to her rather quickly even in LA morning traffic! I was able to find parking directly across from her office. When I got there I realized my shirt and the background were the same color, she gave me time to run to my car and change shirts. (I always wear a royal blue shirt to auditions and her background was the exact same royal blue that everyone should use for their background). She gave me time to catch my breath and set up without feeling rushed. She even has air conditioning to keep you cool until shooting so that you're not a sweaty mess on tape. Lol. Jane even gave me helpful direction throughout shooting without being too overbearing! I really appreciated her input as it completely made sense and I felt comfortable with her directing me. In these situations there is so much you can miss and she was my extra pair of eyes, I've never had that at a self taping before. She made me feel like she really cared instead of just rushing me in and out. I must say she seems great at reading people and being able to tell when you are ready to tape after a few practice runs. When I got home she walked me through each step to download my video which I know she really didn't have to do. It was such a great experience and she made the self taping a breeze for me, I know I will be back! read more
