The cover delivered with boar was for a completely different and larger craft - it did not fit. I tried for over 8 weeks to get an answer from YH as to when these items could be delivered. After several texts and emails, I finally was called by the original salesman that my cover would be in, in 5 days. I allowed 10 days to pass before reaching out for status. I was then told a new cover would be ordered and the boat would need to be picked up. At pickup, I was told it would be returned in "a couple days".. It has now been 7 days with no communication from YH. I just called and was told "it's next in line"! When I asked when it would now be ready? - I was told "hopefully this weekend. If you value your time, expect service from companies you spend your money with, do not do business with us location.

Had a lovely Labor Day weekend campout here with some friends. The spots are beautiful among the…read moretrees and many of them very wide and spacious. We camped with some friends in the neighboring spot and it was a perfect setup. At the same time, had we not had friends neighboring to us, I still would have felt like we had plenty of space between us and the next site. We didn't visit the lake at all as there isn't really direct access from the campground itself, but we were okay with that. The only things that prevented it from being a 5-star, was the fact that there were no dumpsters or trash cans in the campground itself (had to drive to the boat ramp, which didn't make much sense), and the dump station filled up as everyone headed out so only those who got out super early were able to dump. The dumping situation didn't impact us as we have a large tank and were headed directly to another campsite where we could dump, but our friends had to find somewhere along their route and pay to dump which isn't super convenient. Overall, was a really nice laid-back spot for a relaxing weekend at the campsite and would visit again.

Swimming area has a small beach and changing rooms. A shower is available to rinse off as well as life jackets for anyone to use. The sand is groomed about every 3 weeks. The geese like to leave droppings. There is a large campground that is often full. We have never stayed here. Park hosts are fun and get to know the regulars.

Very winding road to enter for checkin. Visitor center is on the left upon entrance. Parking pass…read moreis required for $5 a day or annual option. Two spots are located by visitor center for RV's to park for checkin. Checkin is from 8 am until 5 pm at visitor's center. At camp host after 5 pm. Very small campground. All are full hookups with quite a few pull through sites. Newly renovated campground area. Horseshoe, volleyball, playground, and bath house are located within campground as well as dump station. Small lake to fish at by visitor's center. Larger lake to fish on is located straight past the turn in for the campground. Mostly stocked with catfish and bass. (Hint they like corn, hot dogs, Vienna sausage and chicken livers which can be found at the local dollar general.) Over 21 miles of hiking trails but only some are available for non equestrian use on the weekends. The civil war museum and sites are a great adventure and Melanie is a good guide. The museum needs updating and some placards need to be moved for better viewing. All in all a good campground and experience. Will be back.

Just got back from a three day camping trip at A.H. Stephens State Park. my wife, dog and I all…read moreenjoyed it. We arrived on a Monday. As a result, there was no one else in the camp ground. The sites seemed spacious. We found a site on the opposite side of the camp ground from the camp hosts. It was quiet and very peaceful. There are several lakes in the park as well as a walking trail and an equestrian trail. All were nice. There's also a Civil War museum / historical site. We didn't visit but it looks like a neat tour for history buffs. The park staff were all very courteous, friendly and helpful. The camp ground was very clean and the camp hosts were great. The biggest negative was the bathhouse. It was spotlessly clean but very small. They had women's toilets in the men's room and didn't even have a urinal. There were only three stalls and two small shower stalls. It appears they have cut away some of the bathhouse to use as a handicapped mens / womens room. The camp hosts said that the room is supposed to be locked except when there's someone in the handicapped camping space. So, about half the bathhouse of the only bathhouse is off limits to most campers; your ax dollars at work. I understand it's the law and even if it weren't, having handicap accessible restrooms would be the right thing to do but no one says they have to be off limits and inaccessible to the rest of the campers. That strikes me as just plain stupid regulatory over reach. However, it's not the fault of the camp. The only other negative was the train. There's a train track within a half a mile of the park. There are three trains that run daily; one during the afternoon, a second one in early evening and a third one later in the evening (believe it's around 9 p.m.) They might be a little distracting for anyone trying to hit the sack early but they weren't too distracting. I also think the campsites might be a little crowded for tent camping if the camp ground were full but we didn't run into that problem. I did read Beth M.'s review. However, we didn't smell any foul odors while we were there. Don't know if it's seasonal or if the issue's been corrected but the air was fresh and clear through our stay. Overall, the experience was excellent. We plan to go back to A.H. Stephens. If you're a camping enthusiast, give it shot! You'll probably enjoy it.
